  1. "As a developer you should be thinking about what makes a great iPad app, not just an iOS app that looks OK on an iPad. If you're a document based app, are you going to support multiple windows, of course you should." Craig Federighi Apple senior vice president of Software Engineering. https://www.macstories.net/news/craig-federighi-the-appstories-interview/
  2. I agree with that. I bring up many notes via siri voice shortcuts on a three year old ipad and they stay open stacked on top of each other. The ipad definitely has the specs to handle it.
  3. Said hoping, not assuming. They'll have to develop for the ipad, unless you're talking about just not differentiating between the iphone and ipad versions.
  4. Now that the developer build of iOS 13 / padOS is out, I hope Evernote is working to allow split screen with different notes on iPad. EN on iOS has looong needed a way to be in a note and not lose place note hopping back and forth between notes. Been playing around with the iOS dev build and it’s quite powerful.
  5. Somehow retaining formatting only the user has made would be helpful, not holding my breath on it happening soon though.
  6. Yea, I agree. As a developer myself, I was taking his word for it. Have a feeling it’s just an edge case that’s not high on his priorities to really look into. Will update here for posterity.
  7. Hello, I’d already tried dropping various forms of text from Evernote and it works fine into native Apple apps. Slide over or split screen with any kind text from Evernote to Anki isn’t working though. Had a talk with the developer of Anki and he told me Evernote is doing something proprietary where the text isn’t accepted. Probably will open a ticket. Thanks
  8. I’m trying to drag and drop paragraphs of text from Evernote to Anki and I get the error “unexpected rich text formatting - please try copy and pasting.” Trying again after simplifying the formatting of the Evernote note doesn’t help. I guess this is going to be a multi-step process, like saving the note to PDF and sharing to another app? Would be nice if there was a way to do this.
  9. Sure, I’ve already upvoted all the relevant feature requests I could find for what I’d like to see Evernote get. Essentially, I’d like to navigate quicker through EN on mobile. I already do that with note links and you’re right the creation of these should be quicker. I have some “dashboards” in Evernote that link out to other notes like a mindmap. Thinking about it further, I wouldn’t have to have inline links to tags, notebooks etc if I were able to save searches for certain notebooks, tags etc as links I could drop within notes.
  10. Evernote would do well to take strides in enabling; *quick* links to other notes (via mobile especially), notebooks, tags, searches. Notion.so and others are innovating fast in this regard.
  11. Yea, I have nearly a hundred workflows (not related to Evernote) that I've made over the years in the workflow app before it was bought by Apple and became shortcuts. I'm referring to Evernote's baked in option for Siri to directly open notes via voice. The way you can, from within an Evernote note, record a phrase to open that note with voice command. Often, when calling the voice command for a note, the note will pull up via Siri, but all the text won't render - the note just sits there spinning. Notes use to pull up fine, they sometimes still do, but often they do not render. Notes almost always render when they are accessed with a text search.
  12. Notes are often not loading when using a Siri Voice shortcut to open them. These offline notes are able to be pulled up, then fail to render. What's weird is I can pull them up and they render fine with a non-voice search in EN. Anyone else experienced this?
  13. I like the idea, but wonder about privacy. On the authorization screen, it says the site would be allowed to retrieve notes. Anyone know if it's doing any storing or able to see note content on their side?
  14. Yea, I have an email launcher app to Evernote set up in the top of my iOS widget area. It’s not a great solution since emailing in to Evernote has failed me before. Not paying for Drafts either, I used it before it went subscription and I’d figure a shortcut app route before that. I was thinking back on how five years ago I was in a relationship and the woman I was with read my diary I was at the time keeping in Evernote via iPad. What’s hilarious to me is I was hardly putting anything in there because the editor was such a fail. So the ***** editor maybe saved me.... Putting some thoughts in Evernote this first day of the year and I’ve had moments where I’m trying to hold a couple in mind while I wait for the note I’m writing in to open. Five years down the line, still, that cognitive load of wondering if a note will come up so you don’t forget your thought.
  15. Happening again here on ios and osx. A few times in the past hour on ios where I tried to open an offline note and it wouldn’t render. Had to click a note in the shortcut pane and back to the note I was trying to get to and only then it would render on screen.
  16. I’d like to see reminders as a first class feature baked in Evernote similar to how this new competitor is going about it: ”Glad you asked, this is an area we've very passionate about! We've probably spent half of our development time building todo list features. Our todo lists currently support: • Fixed recurring todos (e.g., every Thursday at 8pm) • Snooze / Hide item from list for X time • Relative recurring todos (e.g., whenever I call grandma, remind me to call her again a month from now) • Time estimation: optional means to assist Amplenote in estimating priority of task • Important/urgent designation: optional means to assist Amplenote in estimating priority of task • "Todo trash" = whenever you finish an item, it's automatically moved to bottom of note, and grouped by day so you can quickly see how much you got done on a per-day or per-week basis Native reminders are a feature we already have in our UI, but it's not enabled yet. Probably late this month or early January for reminders.”
  17. So Siri shortcuts just quit working for me. All the notes I've created voice shortcuts to open on will not open the note. Siri does recognize the voice shortcut, but just tries to search the web or open apps with the same name. I've looked in all the notes with voice shortcuts and under “edit Siri shortcut” the same command is still there. Since there still isn’t parity between iPhone/iPad etc voice shortcuts for the same note, i’ve only been using iPad for them. Anyone else experienced this?
  18. What I do is export the Evernote note to PDF sending it to MarginNote 3 (ios / osx) and then quickly highlight the sections I want to remember. I then use Marginnote’s export highlights to Anki feature.
  19. Clicking on the top of the iOS device where date, time, WiFi etc are will take you to the top of the note. I’m often not able to even add info to the bottom of a note when it jumps there. Just freezes. Hope this bug gets fixed soon.
  20. A word to the wise, if you create these on one device like an ipad, the same voice shortcut won't work on another device like an iphone. At least not for me. Explanation and pics here:
  21. Has been happening for me on phone with iOS 12 beta installed. Right after I updated iPad to the 12 iOS beta it’s jumping to the bottom on edits there too. Long press then quick tap sometimes works to edit. Evernote should push a fix out, final 12 version is coming quick.
  22. never received the sign-up e-mail in any folder including spam.
  23. Hey Myles, I took the survey. To answer you previous question, I am noticing better results in the context feature of Evernote now. Thing is, I drop so many note links in the top of my critical notes that I rarely go all the way down there to navigate. I've done some PKM research on my own and I've read it's better to demonstrate links between information visually. One way I try to do that is to drop note links at the top as mentioned and use a universal emoji/character/line/graphic system to quickly see what I need to. Would help if some of this were automatic and a lot more visual.
  24. Is Tangle going to start out as desktop then move to mobile or vice-versa? I’m barely aware context is there. The results were so lackluster for so long that maybe I trained my brain that it was a waste of energy to look there. Maybe it’s due to the design as well, there isn’t any visual hook to look there. That could be intentional. On mobile now, so no context. Will take a look at it when back at laptop.
