  1. When I scan documents with my iPhone, and send them to Evernote, it just creates a new note with the scanned document as content, and the properties (title, tags) assigned to it by the scanning app. No new window. Just when I use the ix500 ScanSnap, a window is created. This is an Evernote window, not a scansnap-app window. So somehow the transfer of the scanned document into Evernote makes EN show a new window, with this note as content. For each scanned document a new window is created. When I scanned a lot, I have some housekeeping to do. For me, scanning things is the most important source to create content in Evernote, followed by Webclipper and forwarding E-Mails into the account. Creating and typing notes in EN I do comparatively scarcely.
  2. If on a mobile device, for me the ultimate test would be to sync through a mobile connection. If it works there, the likely problem is somewhere with the WLAN network.
  3. Maybe ... My EN got snailed down when Windows left so much update residue on my system disk that only 30GB were left. Among this were several system fallback points, probably created between Update runs. I could free nearly 100GB by getting rid of this stuff (no need to fallback, things were running, but slooooow). And I know pretty well what all this is good for, and whether I need it or not. Cleaning up helped, but only after a complete restart the system and Apps were back to normal. Evernote performed after this little operation as before, which is fast throughout any practical use like search, retrieval, scanning, tagging etc. Maybe the software concept is a little dated - room for improvement, but for me without a real negative impact. P.S. I would not call an i7-Desktop with 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD, 2TB HDD and a 21TB NAS as data server „restricted“. But the Windows updates this year made my day ...
  4. Sometimes it is just try and error. As an example: When I scan something from my ix500 into my Windows Evernote, it goes straight into the database, without an extra window. When I do the same scanning into my Mac, each scan opens its own little window, that I will have to close later. Why ? No idea ! I have not yet found the switch to kill it. And the scanning interface is very different in Windows and Mac. But this is Fujitsu, not Evernote.
  5. What may have an influence is the second option from top down „Open note links ....“. You have switched it off, so no new window from there. Another may be in the clipper tab the topmost option „Clip forward. ... „ (or something, have to translate this stuff) In the Mac client these two are those that may have an impact on this new window creation.
  6. Another option would be to create a pdf from the paper layout, import it into a notetaking app (Goodnotes 5 in my case), take notes with an iPad + Pencil, and copy + paste the resulting handwritten notes into Evernote. To create the pdf of the paper form, simply scan it using a scanner that can create pdf-format. Any pdf can be imported as a template into Goodnotes.
  7. From my experience: Evernote is not the culprit... Windows updates made it slow down in my case, and filled my SSD with sedimented data left over after the update was through. What helped: Clean up the start up disk (in most cases “c:“ ) Using the explorer, right click on „c:“, properties, clean up as admin including the system files, then empty the trash, and restart windows.
  8. Anybody can and should use what he likes for his purposes. Dynamic Type will only change the appearance of the font on the iOS device, not the font itself. The same text will look larger or smaller when displayed, allowing either for better reading or more information on the same screen. The font in itself is not affected - you can test it yourself when altering it, create several documents with several settings (in an app that supports it) and open it on a Mac. One app to try this is Apple notes, which supports dynamic text. Independent from the settings of dynamic text on iOS, the notes look all the same on the Mac. What would be really nice: If Evernote would support markdown editing, which due to its closeness to HTML should be reasonable to code.
  9. The Evernote editor is following the OSes abilities. On the Mac, it „borrows“ the font-management from MacOS. This is not a property of Evernote. With iOS, my iAwriter has exactly the same font editing ability as Evernote: Small, medium, large, and that is it. Only apps that bring their own fonts along like Pages or Word offer more control. As long as iOS is Running without an own font module, I doubt that typical apps will start to offer this as a feature. The unevenness of the look of notes in Evernote-iOS is probably a side effect of fonts carried over from the MacOS or even Windows- world. Heavy editing there may have side effects in the iOS client. This is not good, but I think there are many other things to straighten before this one.
  10. Right. iOS is a pretty closed shop regarding fonts. So what is all this about ? Claiming that notes are looking one way on one platform, and other on another, when it is not even possible to pick or change fonts. I can pick on iOS - Evernote small, medium or large size, and that is it. This is similar with markup-editors (in my case iAwriter), that have the same choice of s/m/l without any font picking. The font will be added by the properties of the web site the text is embedded into. IMHO this is nothing to blame Evernote for anything, and it is nothing to complain about. EN is a note taking tool, not a full fledged editor, and this it does. It does not have to look the same between operating systems and devices, because it was not built to look the same. This even makes it easier to move notes around between clients and devices, because it will always flexibly adapt to the new environment. if I want to create a document with more formatting control, I export the plain text to pages (or word, or ...), and format it there.
  11. Go to Evernote.com in the Internet. Go to the help & Training section. Click on send us an e-Mail. If not yet registered, you can proceed as guest. Or register, creating an account is possible without having a subscription. The accounts & payments section is open to everybody, not only paying users. Post your question there, with a valid E-Mail-adress.
  12. Interesting thread. One little question: Where do you set fonts in iOS ? Fonts, not font sizes ! In iOS in general, not in specific apps like pages !
  13. Searched today on iPhone/ 3G while out of office, still working fine for me.
  14. P.S. If the alt-key does not work, try with „ctrl“. As I say, I am far from my PC, iPad-only and can not check.
  15. I am not on my PC currently, so I can’t send you a screenshot. Typically, when you click with the mouse on the help menu, it is pretty short. Close it again. Then press and hold the alt/option key on your keyboard, and while the key is still down, click again on the help menu. You should now see more options that appear below a little separator line in the menu box. Some of theses additional options perform rebuild functions on the local database. In general, the deeper down the list you go, the „stronger“ gets the reorg, and the more danger is in this. I have used the first 2 or 3 and have had my search issues fixed. To check on progress, I had my databases synced before, and then did the same searches on PC and iPad. PC is on local, iPad is on web by default. When both agree on several searches in what they find, the database on the PC and in the web should be harmonized again.
  16. Thanks for the comment. My congratulations are mature, because on my devices it went bad some time ago, and is now and still fixed. Since the new release I had no search-freezes any more, not on iPad nor on iPhone, not on WLAN nor on mobile data (4G+3G), not with 12.2 or 12.3. I am far away to think that by this, anybody has to experience the same - even when iOS is typically much more stable with solving issues on all devices because the devices are well designed, and get fresh OS-releases every few months. So if you still have trouble, and as a premium user, I think a support ticket is the logical next step. Would be nice if you keep us posted about how it evolves. There is always „one more thing“ to learn.
  17. As I read it, it is Open Source so basically free to use. They just ask for a small contribution in the range of 5$, which for me is sort of a one-time without being a real purchase, because no contract will go with it. But this leaves the option to contribute more or less, whatever you like. Concerning the confidentiality, it all boils down to whether you trust the other party or not. Since it is open source, you can at least read the code and find out if it contains any problematic parts. Or you can check in the internet for others that have looked it up already. Open source for this reason is usually more trustworthy than proprietary code nobody can check.
  18. Just when signing in through the Goggle ID, or with the Evernote account as well ?
  19. The windows (and Mac) version uses its own local database for searches and the like. Mobile and web trust the cloud database. Therefore search results may differ. If the search goes bad on the desktop, it may be that the local database got damaged somehow. Chances are that just the Index got corrupted. You can reach additional database fixing options when you press and hold the „alt“ / option key before clicking on the help menu. Some of them will rebuild aspects of the local database. Just take your time when doing this, and after starting one of the options wait until it has run through. Then check the results, and decide whether to go further or not. The deeper you dive, the more additional damage can be done. A more radical approach would be to delete the local database, and rebuild it from the web. For me the reindexing worked, and found a few notes with bad properties to fix as well.
  20. From how I understand the process: - a new release goes first to the company homepage, for download and free installation - the same goes to the App Store, for the fruit shop guys to check and approve it. This does not depend on the software provider, but on the App Store Operator. Sometimes it takes a while ... - There are cases in which the App Store Version is permanently restricted, for example because of the obligatory sandboxing. In these cases, there May permanently exist 2 versions, one for the App Store, and one for free installation. This means: If you need a fix fast, get the downloaded version. If you can’t install this (managed Mac etc.), maybe you need paaaaaaaaaatience (sorry).
  21. Changes to a standard GUI is in most cases not a good idea. When you can make it disappear, you have to make it come back if needed. And you have to explain desperate users how to achieve it (read through the forum if you do not believe me). So why bother, the option will not bite you when you ignore it ... For many users, sharing is a most relevant function of Evernote. And you never know when it will come in handy for you to use as well.
  22. I perfectly understand why the OCR is in trouble. My handwriting is similar .... 😉

  24. If you use the keyboard, the undelete button is above the keys, the symbol at the very left. If you use a real keyboard, there will only show a small menu bar at the bottom of the page, where the undo is found as well. Beside it is the redo-option. A further option in iOS is to activate the „shake to undo“ option in the settings of iOS. Somewhere in settings, general, .... Mine is in German, so I am not sure how this spells in Englisch. Looks weird to hold your iPad firmly with a furious look in the eyes and rattle it, but it will open a little window asking whether you want to undo the last action. For me this is enough undo in iOS in practical life. Sequential undo some steps backwards might be nice, but is IMHO not essential.
