  1. I'm using Evernote quite successfully on a Galaxy 22 Ultra with Android 13, similar to @YJPark's previous experience. My wife has a Z Fold (but not Evernote), and it can be troublesome at times. For instance, she finds that the touch screen often fails to respond if the phone is unfolded completely flat; it has to be only partly open. Other than that, I can only agree with @agsteele and suggest opening a support ticket, using the Web form rather than from the app if it is having trouble submitting the information.

Yes, UpNote is what most people suggest in forums and YouTube as an alternative.

Monthly subscription is only $0.99 and lifetime subscription is $24.99!

It does offer all the functionality of Evernote apart from OCR. But it makes up for it by offering tons of other features: you can lock notes with a password, there are collapsible sections, custom sort of notes and folders, a very clean and modern look, you can pin the app to the top of other windows (ideal when using Zoom or another app and you want to have your notes active), proper backlinks by typing [[, and much more.

A lifetime sub for $25 means out of business before long, IMHO, at least if very many people subscribe and put up very many notes. Collapsible sections and custom sorts sound useful, but I don't see how they make up for lack of OCR, which would mean that attachments are not searchable. My Evernote Professional sub renews next month for the same as last year (US$100), so I'm staying put. Of course, they could change that price in the next 6 weeks!

I also have the same issue.
Saving image from the note, then adding it again also doesn't help.
Looks like something happens with a file when copying or saving image which is stored inside the note (stored by evernote)

Dear devs, if you having trouble to reproduce this bug I'm willing to let you connect to my machine if you need

Welcome to the forums. These are user-to-user forums. The only reliable way to contact the devs is to start a support ticket, if you are a paid subscriber: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. For non-subscribers, I believe they also take support requests on their Twitter account.

I find that between my laptop, desktop and phone I do not always get proper sync. My desktop in particular seems to give up on syncing. Please, PLEASE bring back the sync button for force a sync!

On the Windows and Mac desktop apps, Ctrl/Cmd + R will reload the program, essentially forcing a sync. On the phone, if it's an Android, there are well-known issues with Evernote syncing slowly, and the only fix (till they fix it properly) is patience.

I got this problem a few days ago and thought it was my phone.... or my internet. But I have done everything. Nothing has helped.

And I cant contact support becase I use the free version. So.... any other suggestions? :(

Welcome to the forums. There have been several problems described in this thread. Can you give some more details about what is happening (or not happening)?

  6. This has been a problem for a long, long time -- maybe even before v. 10. For me, it seems to be cookies rather than cache, as if Evernote somehow chokes on its own cookies (so to speak). At any rate, clearing the last day or even last hour of cookies fixes it. Really aggravating if I'm in a hurry.

Now I have had ample time to give Bear Markdown a try, and their notice of increase in price has come at a very bad time for them––especially considering the fact that I could not give a toss about any "new features" being added to a program used (on my part) mainly for notes and very simple shopping lists. Anything creative ends up being lost in the mix, so Bear is far better suited for such. Demanding $50 per year for an app, especially during what looks to become the most disastrous financial collapse in recorded history, is flagrant extortion.

If you're not doing anything on Evernote that is worth $1 a week, then definitely it is not the tool for you. I pay twice that and consider it good value for what I do with Evernote. To me, it seems that their pricing  is not extortionate, just too high for some people's use cases.

I'm sorry you're resentful that you've paid Evernote so much more money than me. I'm sorry that debt has made it hard for you to feel sympathy for people who don't have that debt. I know you think I'm being "ungracious" to a company, but you're being "cold" to a fellow human in distress. I'll pick the former over the latter any day.

Well, now you're claiming to read my mind. I do not feel resentful for paying Evernote more than you, or for paying period. I feel glad to pay for what I get good benefit from, just as (I suppose, but now I'm reading your mind) you feel good about paying for Google Drive.

But taking a step back, I'm sorry for responding "coldly" to what really is a dire situation. I remember the first time I had a power outage when I'd been working on an unsaved document for some time. It was miserable. I should have shown more sympathy to your understandable distress.

For me, a one-time $8 payment is a pretty low paywall. But I'm not in your shoes, and I don't know how much of an obstacle that is for you. For that matter, Bending Spoons has been going a little nuts with different rates in different countries lately, so I don't know if you'd pay as little as $8. I don't need to know your circumstances. I just sympathize with your loss. I hope that by now you've been able either to recreate your material, or to get in touch with Evernote support.

Plenty of companies offer support for their free products. It's ***** of EN to say "Trust us with your data" then lose the data, and not care. I don't care if it's bad business, it's still ***** behavior

And other companies barely support their quite expensive products. Not meaning to pile on, but just offer a perspective: if you've been using Evernote for free for almost 10 years, you've already gotten an enormous amount of value at no cost. Something went wrong in this case that was not your fault, not Evernote's fault, maybe not LS's fault.... But something went wrong with a computer and you have to pay a little money to get it fixed. I don't understand why that seems so unreasonable.

No real need to reply. Obviously it seems unreasonable to you, so there we are. I think the reason some others here seem to be pushing back is that, frankly, we've been paying for the whole 10 years you've been using it for free. You're welcome. But a little graciousness in seeing the forest, not just the one tree, might be nice.

  10. Hi, and welcome to the forums. Many people have found the Android app to be intolerably slow and difficult to sync (not me, but lots of others), but losing notes is another matter. This definitely sounds like an issue for technical support. How long have your been waiting for a reply from them? Honestly, I doubt that there's much your fellow users here can do but sympathize. Just TBC, it's not a matter of one Evernote client syncing with another. Each client (desktop computer, Web, mobile) syncs with the Evernote server to update the master copy stored there, and then other clients sync down from that. Which makes it all the more surprising that the mobile and Web clients are lined up, and not the computer one.

I also cannot log into Evernote from my Samsung Chromebook via the App on the Google App store. I can log in and use it from a browser.

Has anyone gotten assistance to fix this issue?

Welcome to the forums. You've already posted about this issue in a different thread, which I think was the more relevant one. This thread is about a different issue. Please don't do multiple postings, or divert threads into other directions. Thanks.

Funny - I just saw the discussion and asked GPT itself if it created the initial post. Here's the answer:
    • It's possible that a similar text was generated by me, as a language model, as I have been trained on a vast amount of text data and can generate a wide range of outputs.

😄 I believe I saw somewhere that chatGPT had successfully passed a bar exam. So it appears to know how to give appropriately legal-and-yet-uninformative responses when a simple, "Yes, that was me" might be true.

OMG I just installed the new Evernote Win10 app. JUST TODAY. I've been using the legacy app since the new one came out because the new app was so GD annoying. It is now very close to what the legacy app was, so I can start to use it, but I just noticed this charmer. When I double click the icon, BRING UP THE MAIN WINDOW for X's sake, what the heck is this quicknote *****? And if you're going to force a new workflow on me, give me the option to get rid of it.

The whole new app was a fiasco. Thank whomever that they finally seem to figure out the old app design was good.

Please see my note 2 prior to yours for some suggestions.

Glad to see it's not just me!

I submitted a ticket on this. The initial response I got was that it had to do with the location on the taskbar. Well, I had not done anything with the taskbar. It went from being in the lower right to lower left to upper left and now back to the lower left.

For those who haven't used it, the Evernote Helper is so convenient. It's like the little memo pad that used to live by the phone during the pencil and paper days. Great place to jot ANYTHING and then clean it up later.

Strangely, if I double-click the white elephant in the tray, Evernote Helper opens at the bottom right of my screen.  If I invoke it with Control+Alt+H, it appears on the bottom left.

Wow, literally all over the map! I find that either clicking the elephant in the tray or using Ctrl+Alt+H pops it up in the lower right.

@DrFrankBuck, I can't imagine what they mean by "location on the taskbar." Does anyone have a choice where the system tray is located on the taskbar??? I suppose depending on how many windows you have open and how wide your screen is, it could get a little cramped there toward the right end, but under no conditions does that tray show up on the left end! Does it?

I think this just happened after a recent update - A clip now always lists "Main Notes" - I need to pick something else. A recent change (bug).

    • Windows 11,
    • Firefox 111.0,
    • WebClipper Version: 7.31.1.493-787ddd7

Windows app, though I'm not sure related to web clipping.

    • 10.54.4-win-ddl-public (3978)
    • Editor: v166.1.20643
    • Service: v1.66.1
    • © 2019 - 2023 Evernote Corporation. All rights reserved

    Anyone else notice this??

    thx,

I can confirm this, on Windows 10, using Edge v. 111, Clipper v. 7.31.1.493-787ddd7. With smart filing turned on, no matter what kind of page I try to clip (even pages with obvious connections in their titles to specific notebooks of mine), it wants to send the clip to my default notebook.

I just want EN to consider adding AI functions, as it is a trend. Please do not talk about privacy, as there is no privacy in this world. You are just fooling yourself if that is the reason why you do not like AI.

Robot or no-bot, you are making the case for Evernote not to rush to add AI. "As it is a trend" is not a reason for doing anything. NFTs are a trend (or are they not one any more?). People who say there is no privacy are people who want an excuse to steal something. Or bots trying to justify their existence. If you don't think there's any privacy, why not share your email address and bank account info, maybe your DOB? Unless you are just fooling yourself.
