From what I've seen in the forums, people who find themselves on a "basic notetaking model" at a basic fee often interpret this as "they put the good stuff behind a paywall." It's not a bad idea, but it would not end the complaints.

This is apparently the first price increase since 2016, and there have been plenty of improvements in features since then. The question is whether these features are of any use to you, and if they're not then indeed the price will be unreasonable.

Evernote android sync broken again?
Dave-in-Decatur replied to janndk's topic in Evernote General Discussions
Thanks. Looking it over, I see that the problems for you are mainly with checklists becoming bulleted lists, PDF export (and sometimes printing), and various Android issues, esp. involving widgets. These are mostly not circumstances that I happen to encounter often, hence our different perspectives. I have seen the text corruption with accented characters and non-Roman alphabets with notes created via widgets and quick note. -

Evernote android sync broken again?
Dave-in-Decatur replied to janndk's topic in Evernote General Discussions
Not to criticize, but although that's what you're experiencing, it's not universally true. I did see some moments of slowness on Android yesterday, but things did sync, and today it's working very fast. Sync experience still seems to be uneven, which is a problem for those having issues with it, but not evidence of general unsuitability IMHO. -
How to get a completely new email address?

Weirder all the time. (But not the art/music project--that sounds interesting.) This is probably going to be a job for support (we're other users here), which requires a paid subscription: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. If it's a free account, you can subscribe for just one month, then drop back to free once it's sorted. -
turnoff rotating wheel next to "syncing changes"
Dave-in-Decatur replied to CPack's topic in Evernote General Discussions
Hi, and welcome to the forums. It's meant to be a notification, so no way to turn it off. Possibly an artifact of the move to the new sync system, meaning it should go away soon. More here: -
How to get a completely new email address?
Dave-in-Decatur replied to C_Dub's topic in Evernote General Discussions
Hi, and welcome to the forums. I find that my email address to email notes to starts with the name on my Evernote account (i.e., the name of the account). If your account name is pesky_human, that would do it. (If it's not ... could I have it? 😄) -
Just chiming in to say that I didn't expect I'd get much use from this, being a solitary worker. But I'm gathering and organizing materials for a conference I'm attending this summer, with my wife and a travel companion going along, and with a number of notes in play I'm finding that some things can be done better on my desktop using the Web interface and some on my laptop with the Windows desktop app, and some on my Android phone. Even if not quite editing simultaneously, the ability to rely on something done on my desktop computer appearing on my laptop when I turn around to it, or on my phone when I pick it up, is amazing.

Integrating AI into Evernote
Dave-in-Decatur replied to Paul A.'s topic in Evernote General Discussions
My experience is far more limited (and I plan to keep it that way, for now). But this corresponds with the few samples I've seen here. "Robotic" would be another adjective I'd use, not surprisingly. I'm a retired academic in a field that involves a good deal of literary criticism, including questions of authentic authorship. I never understood why students, in a class where we'd been working on exactly that, thought they could a term paper plagiarized off the Internet past me. I'm guessing same for AI: more work for professors tracking down the cheating than the students put into the papers. Does not end in charitable grading. Apologies for digressing. "Wordy, over-precise and mostly boring." -
I've just re-tested also. I started in the Web, creating a new note and then going to the ... menu, where Save as template was again grayed out. But I tried clicking on it anyway -- and it worked! My test note could be turned into a template, and the template could be used to create a new note on the Android mobile app. I did the same there (Save as template for a new note was not grayed out), and then also in the Windows desktop app, where this time Save as template was not grayed out and was active. All the new templates were accessible for creating new notes on all 3 platforms. So possibly whatever was wrong is fixed. Or maybe just clicking on the grayed-out option (for me) reactivated it.

For starters--wow, that's weird. Certainly not the expected behavior. A little more detail would be useful: what Evernote client are you using (desktop, mobile, Web, etc.), and on what kind of device? Does this happen with every note and every tag you try, or only one specific tag and/or one specific note or type of note?

Integrating AI into Evernote
Dave-in-Decatur replied to Paul A.'s topic in Evernote General Discussions
I'm fortunate not to have to be in meetings much anymore, but I think it would be interesting to compare an AI-generated summary of the minutes or notes with the notes themselves (if it was a moderate amount of material). I would be interested in knowing how well the AI understood what seems important to me, whether it was able to highlight what is relevant to my actions, etc.
