  1. @DavidAron, welcome to the forums. Hard to know what your point is, but if all a person uses is MS Office, and all a person needs is a place to store documents, then yeah. If a person does wide-ranging work, whether material or intellectual, involving finding and storing information and ideas to be searched, connected, and used later ... then Evernote.
  2. Thanks for alerting me to the fact that this is back. I've been wanting it for ages.
  3. @maara, as others have noted this forum is not a way to contact Evernote directly. We're just other users. If you want to give Evernote this blast, it's https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new (before your subscription runs out). Two specific comments: First, a lot of your issues seem to be with code blocks. A number of other coders have made the same complaints here. The bottom line seems to be that Evernote is a generalist tool, not a specialized one, not for coding, fiction writing, business management, or anything else. Second, I don't know why you can't select a block of text and move it around. This has worked in Evernote since ... well, since forever, AFAIK, and certainly still works in v. 10 on all platforms. Probably not worth your while to try it again on the way out, but it does work.
  4. What I'm seeing seems to be the overlap or convergence of several problems that are being reported separately in the forums, and have been reported separately by many people to support. So this morning in the Android app (v. 10.51, which seems to be the latest), I searched on a term that appears in the title of a number of notes, and got a list of two results whose titles consisted only of that term. Then: I tapped on one of them, but the note didn't appear, only a spinning circle for a minute or more (as reported here). Likewise with the second one. Later, after working on a different note, I repeated the search, and the same two notes showed up as the results. This time when I tapped on the first one it displayed just fine, and so did the second. I went back to the search results, tapped on the first note again and it appeared, but this time I was taken to the bottom of the note instead of the top (as reported here for multiple OSes). This continued to happen every time I viewed that note. It has also happened with other notes, and indeed it may be happening now with every note. When I went back to the Home page, there in the list of recent notes were these same two notes at the top of the list, even though I had not edited them but only viewed them (as reported here [and the following posts, including one from @Federico Simionato indicating they're working on it] and here [Android]). I don't even know how to report this to support: all together, even though it appears to be 3 separate problems? Individually, even though they have popped up for me simultaneously? But #1 is temporary and intermittent (though I also saw it on the Web client today), and #2 is only an inconvenience, not a loss of data or functionality. #3, which can certainly mess up access to what one is currently working on, is known to be under investigation. It's these weird confluences of issues that makes me think there is something screwy with the overall RTE/sync upgrade--maybe just growing pains, but maybe due in part to insufficient allocation of resources. EDIT: FWIW, I did report #2 to support. It's just getting too annoying. In the Android forum, staff say they're working on it.
  5. Glad that worked. I have experienced something similar on the Android app and in the Web client: a note is in the Notes list, but its content cannot be viewed; then after some time, or after viewing other notes, it appears. There is just all kinds of weirdness going on in Evernote these days:
  6. OK, I tried again with a couple of different apps and am not getting this problem. If Samsung support has not been able to resolve it, it does sound like an issue in Evernote. First thing would be simply to clear the Evernote app's cache; next would be to restart the phone and see if that fixes it, both of which you've probably already done. Ultimate thing might be to be sure your notes are synced, then uninstall Evernote, restart the phone, and reinstall Evernote. You won't lose data, since it's saved on Evernote's servers. Give it a bit to download what it needs to, open the app, then try sharing to it. If it doesn't work with a whole new installation--essentially a brand-new app on the phone--then it's definitely a phone or OS issue, and you might need to escalate to a higher support level with Samsung.
  7. Hi, and welcome to the forums. I have begun to see this in the Android app too, on some notes but not others, whether I open them from the recent notes from the Home page or from the Notes list or a notebook. There's a longer discussion of this on other Evernote platforms here: You may want to report this to support: 3-line menu at bottom left > gear icon top right > Support.
  8. Hi, and welcome to the forums. There have been a number of reports of content missing lately. If you can access the note on a different Evernote client (the Web client for instance), is the content there? Has it showed up now that some time has passed?
  9. This. I've had some issues in recent days that make me wonder whether they anticipated the strain on their systems.
  10. As a certain pachyderm has pointed out before, the new sync at its best happens faster than you could reach to click a sync button anyway. A sync button is not needed any more than an electric car needs a hand crank. If you absolutely have to add some duck tape to your belt and suspenders, you can always press Ctrl/Cmd + R.
  11. Not meaning to be obnoxious, but ... how many days do you think you'll bleep up switching to another product? Sometimes a day or a week must be sacrificed to the overall greater good. (Easy for me to say, I know, it's not my day.)
  12. I've now experienced this, simultaneously with a rather nasty mix of other problems, and posted the whole business here:
  13. Over the last few days I've been experiencing problems with one particular longstanding, frequently edited, moderately lengthy and complex, and quite important note. Today I ran into multiple problems with it, including versions of issues reported in threads such as https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/145893-content-of-notes-is-disappearing/ and https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/145995-notes-pinned-on-home-now-start-at-bottom/. When I first looked at the note today, it had almost all of its content deleted. I restored a previous version from Note History (which creates a note with "Restored - " added to the front of the title). I cleaned it up some, exported it to .enex, and then re-imported it under the "Restored - " title. This of course generated a new note with a new identifier/link, which I hoped might somehow keep the problems from reoccurring, since other issues had been going on with the existing note for a few days (see #4). I deleted the earlier, now defective copy of the note, and tried to change the title of the restored version by removing "the Restored - ". But in the Windows desktop app the change did not appear in the snippet(!), nor did it sync to the Web. Ultimately I had to change the title in the Web client also. In the course of checking the title in various Evernote clients, I discovered that, although RTE seemed functional for the note, neither the avatar icons at the top nor the cursor markers in the body appeared when editing it in both the Windows desktop app and the Web client, though sometimes adding the Android app to the mix seemed to restore them. This note (in its now-deleted version) had also lost some content in previous days, though not as much. Weirder yet, at other times content that I had typed near the top or middle of the note would appear at the end, either not appearing at all in its right place, or duplicating the material in the right place, or appearing as an earlier version of the material. I could see all of this in versions of the note saved in Note History. In the Android app, this note and some seemingly random others are now opening at the bottom of the note when I open them, whether from the recent notes on the Home page, from the Notes list, or from a notebook. I know we're just other users here, but this all seems too complicated--and, I hope, too temporary--to take to support. I'd love to know if others have experienced similar, particularly content moving around in a note. #4 in particular makes me think that all of this is likely related to the rollout of the new RTE/sync structure, which might then also be true of what others are experiencing, esp. regarding content loss, in the threads I linked above. I don't think I've permanently lost content, thanks to noticing the loss immediately and being able to restore it, or to Note History. It's starting to feel a little dicey, frankly, though so far it seems limited to a small number of notes, for no obvious reason. But for all I know this has happened to other notes that I just haven't happened to open and look at lately. And that's disturbing. From my experiences (including also the "syncing temporarily paused" issue -- EDIT: and now see Federico's post) and from what others have reported, I am coming reluctantly to the conclusions that the new RTE/sync was rolled out either before the technology was really ready or before the back end was fully up to speed for it, or both; and that it was unquestionably a mistake to roll out the AI cleanup beta before everything had completely settled in around the new sync. IMHO, it would have been better to be sure one big upgrade was working before setting the next one out.
  14. Well, now a few hours later I am seeing it in the Android app, on some notes but not others, whether I open them from the recent notes from the Home page or from the Notes list or a notebook. It does not actually happen with my one note pinned to Home. I'm seeing enough other weirdness that I don't have time to report it all to support. I am crossing my fingers that it's all related to the growing pains of the new RTE/sync structure, and will pass. Soon, I hope.
  15. Of course, this depends on the honesty and integrity of OpenAI. I don't use it and don't know if it's trustworthy or not. I do recall that its CEO recently went before Congress and asked them to stop him and his AI colleagues from doing harm, so....
  16. A discussion in the Android forum: My guess is it's an unintended and inappropriate consequence of opening an older note and having it converted to the new RTE/sync structure.
  17. https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209005157. In general, Evernote Help & Learning (https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/) is very easy to search.
  18. You might be able to create a template note with the unchecked boxes, and apply that template to new notes rather than copying. As for "improvements" ... Evernote did release a separate product for the new design, v. 10. A few years ago (and still now) people were (and are) complaining bitterly in the forums that suggestions for new features have been ignored. Changing nothing is just not an option. Most of what was lost in the initial release of v. 10 has been restored, but not "Check/Uncheck All." We can't know whether it's coming back, but you could start a request in the Windows app feedback forum: https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/forum/731-evernote-for-windows-requests-versions-100-and-above/.
  19. Just to say it has in fact popped into the most recent updates of my Windows and Android apps. Am currently quarantining myself from it (i.e., just not using it--it doesn't do anything if you don't click the button).
  20. I've seen that happen in the Android mobile app, usually when my keyboard app has suggested a text completion and I've accepted it. Could there be something similar happening in your case?
  21. Hello, and welcome to the forums. Someone else has also reported this: I'm not seeing it myself. So you're not the only one, but it seems not to be very widespread. In any case, the advice suggested in that other thread would be a place to start: quit the program (File > Quit, not just the X at top right, which only closes the interface), then restart it. Maybe reboot the computer in between to be sure.
  22. I'm seeing this also, on v. 10.51, which I think is the latest. Checking permissions, I see camera, location, microphone, and notifications are allowed, and none are denied. Don't know where access to files would come in, but since you can share from the photo gallery the permission must be there. Probably needs to be reported to Support: 3-line menu bottom left > gear icon top right > Support. (I'd do it too, but this is not something I need to do very often.)
  23. My prognostication: converting a note to the new RTE sync structure any time an unconverted note is opened counts as an "edit," which it shouldn't.
  24. That's also what I experienced, actually: the quick note shortcut was just dead, but other widgets went to the login (but didn't create a note without logging in). I've never had an Evernote session expire on my phone; it seems to be "always on"--I don't even have to log back in after restarting the phone. Just hoping there's not a factory reset in your future.... But if the problem doesn't reoccur, making it even harder to track down a cause for it, maybe it just goes into the excrementum fit file (will be interesting to see if that gets bleeped by a Latin-speaking forum management robot).
