  1. Interestingly, the Web client version does not include this in the release notes, presumably because it never applied there. Agree with your overall point about "gone are the days."
  2. I don't have this update to the Windows desktop app yet (and I'm not forcing it, just waiting), but in the Web client I just selected a notebook with 83 notes and hit Ctrl+A to select all, and all 83 were selected. In another notebook with 138 notes I did the same and 100 were sellected.
  3. We are wildly, and perhaps permanently, off the topic of this thread here, and it might be well to open a different topic. That said ... in a brief trial it does look more or less as @Boot17 describes. The notes proposed come from all notebooks, not just the current one. The search seems to be quite "fuzzy" as well: searching for Mary brought up notes with titles that included Martin, marchers, marginal, etc. It seems to me that I will probably always have at least a general idea of the title of the note I want to link to, so I won't have to painfully open up notebooks and hunt for it. But seriously, if someone has the superpower to clip this portion of the thread and move it to the https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/144254-evernote-for-windows-1050-feedback/ thread, I'm sure that would be helpful to all. @gazumped?
  4. First, please see my post in your other thread about "updating" to v. 6.25. Once you've done that ... I still don't think there's any way to merge entire notebooks. What you can do is create "stacks" of notebooks. Go to https://help.evernote.com/ for information on how to do this.
  5. Wow. Sorry for that, but v. 6.25 was the final version of the "older" Evernote, and I'm surprised that you were still running the even older 5.8.3. V. 6.25 is now available as the "Legacy" version. Go to this page for instructions on how to install it: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052560314.
  6. V. 10.50.9 is being rolled out, and it includes a new option in the Notes section of the Settings to select default views of attachments, including whether PDFs display as title, single-page, or all pages.
  7. V. 10.50.9 is beginning to roll out. I've only received it for the Web client so far, but it is supposed to allow us to add links to other notes using Cmd+Opt+K / Ctrl+Alt+K (or the Insert menu).
  8. Can you say some more about the machine, especially, what operating system (Windows, Mac, etc.)? V. 10.05 is a very early version of the "new" Evernote, which is currently up to v. 10.50.
  9. On the Web client, I just got updated to v. 10.50.9, and there you can now select up to 100 notes. Progress is being made; no doubt coming to a Windows desktop app near you soon. Other improvements: Add links to other notes from Insert menu or keyboard shortcut Cmd+Opt+K / Ctrl+Alt+K. Option to view note links as preview of contents, text link, or note title. Select different default views for links and various kinds of attachments in the Settings menu.
  10. Interesting. I've got a fair-sized Dell 2-in-1 laptop, and I haven't thought of using Evernote in tablet mode. Tried it, and I do get a lot more reading room with longer notes, though the display is nothing like your gigantor HP monitors. Something to keep in mind!
  11. These forums are primarily user-to-user; Evernote staff may look in, but this is not a direct way of engaging with them. Since you have a paid account, you can contact them through their support page: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.
  12. My bad. For me the elephant is in the "hidden icons" section that I have to click on the ^ to get to; and he is indeed a ghostly fellow there. I never use that to access Evernote, and I seldom need a quick note either, so I haven't felt the problem.
  13. @agsteele, were you responding to a different thread? This one actually is about the taskbar, not the System Tray. I don't know why Evernote's taskbar icon should be a different color in Win11 than Win10, but this definitely sounds like an issue for technical support (if you are a paid subscriber): https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.
  14. On my Windows 10 Dell laptop, the Evernote taskbar icon is a green elephant in a white circle. The taskbar itself is a light gray, very much like the OP, and the icon is quite visible. Is this a (another) Windows 11 issue?
  15. In another thread related to bulk-deletion of completed tasks, I came across this authoritative (but year-old) explanation of the origins of the 50 limit, and an indication of what is involved in removing it. The issue has to do with performance problems in bulk actions generally.
  16. But of course none of those is exactly the way it was before, which is obviously the only possible right way of doing things, since nobody in their right mind ever wanted to make a note quickly with a single click, right? Or ... maybe ... there are different ways of achieving the same purpose, and people can accommodate themselves slightly to the needs of others. Or maybe not.
  17. Welcome to the forums, @komlaetou. It's mostly user-to-user here. A better way to contact Evernote staff directly is through support (https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new). But it's true that EN is really a generalist app, meant (as I see it) to offer basic functions to a broad range of users, but lacking some specific functions needed for specialized uses. Code highlighting has been requested before, I believe, and you could check the feature request forums and vote for it there. Other features, such as collapsible lists, have been equally hotly requested by people who need them for their particular purposes, but that too in vain, so far.
  18. My apologies--I didn't read carefully enough. Yes, I agree, having those reminders is helpful. Strikethrough is one that always gets me -- Ctrl+T? Ctrl+\? I actually made a note with all the shortcuts, but that was for v. 6 and needs updating. Updated, I could keep the relevant bit of it open in a separate window during some intense editing. Not as good has having it in the tooltips though. I've voted the suggestion up.
  19. Looking at complaints, here or on Play, gives the impression of lots of problems, naturally. But that is not an impression I get when I'm actually using Evernote. It works just fine for me, and I'm not going anywhere. Maybe it's the universe paying me back with extraordinary good fortune to make up for the fact that I can not ever catch the traffic light near my house when it's green. Or maybe Evernote actually works pretty well for most users in most circumstances. Having said that, I will confess that Evernote 10 will not install on my old beater Samsung phone, which ages out at Android 9 and Evernote 8, which works OK. Yet even the legitimate complaints about syncing, slowness, and duplication in the newer app on Android, while very common here, and understandably aggravating, are not universal. At any rate we do get some reports here of the Android app working properly. WRT "death spiral", searching these forums for that exact phrase finds posts back to 2018, when it was a hot topic. "Evernote" and "dead" takes you back to 2015 or so. As a charming sidelight on the insights into Evernote's strategies and the future of computing in these environs, there is also this, likewise from 2015: "I cannot agree less that Evernote respects its users. Because Windows is dying, and so many people use/ are moving to Linux, what more comes across is that Evernote must have been paid off by Microsoft to not develop Evernote for Linux."
  20. The tech support person didn't say they don't know how long it will take to fix it, only that they don't have a timeline to share with users. That is absolutely standard practice in the software industry, at least from my experience as a user. From what I've seen, companies that violate that standard and say "we'll have it fixed in two weeks" inevitably live to regret it. Obviously what you and others are experiencing with the Android app is very problematic. But making these kinds of harsh assumptions doesn't help anything. There's no refusal anywhere that I've seen, only an acknowledgment that the problem exists, work is being done, and no timeline can be shared. It's taking way longer than users want, and that's frustrating or even infuriating, but conspiracy-theory type accusations count as venting, not helping the discussion. And believe me, I've felt that way about Evernote, Comcast, Google, Google, Google.... But eventually I have to conclude that some things are harder to fix than it seems to me. Was the problem with Android v. 10 foreseeable? Maybe, but that's another question, and I don't know if we actually know the answer to it either.
  21. ... and Ctrl+Shift+- (minus/underscore on top keyboard row). For clarification, Insert menu is the blue circle with a ➕ at top left.
  22. This is probably unnecessary advice, but if you go to the Help menu and check for updates it should bring you up to current. If not, you can download directly from evernote.com.
