  1. I am using iphone 13 pro max. The text expansion works just fine within the body of any EN note. Does not work in the search bar which is exactly where I need it to work.
  2. I use text expanders quite frequently. On my windows desktop I use a program called "activewords" which does text expansion, scripting etc. It works quite well even in conjunction with Evernote. For example, if I don't want to type "intitle:XXX tag:XXX -tag:AH notebook:home" then I can simply use a secret key and that entire string will appear in the search bar. I can then swap out the XXX's for whatever I'm searching for. I use this in a hundred ways. In iphone I use the text expander that comes with the keyboard and this works in nearly every app in iphone except for the search bar on EN. It even works within notes in Evernote but not in the searchbar. Does anyone know of a way around this?
  3. I use EN v10 on iphone and ipad and I like the general layout, tasks, reminders etc. Due to recent limitations on using it on win7 computers I am trying to get used to using EN web o those devices. Overall I'm happy with most of its features and am finding it very similar to EN on my other devices. There is, however, a huge difference in manipulating files on EN web. For example, I can drag a pdf file from my desktop into an EN web note, but I can't figure out how to delete that same file once it's in that note. Also, when you double click on a pdf in EN web it does not open. Instead it asks you to save it somewhere and after you do that it can open. There seem to be other limitations when it comes to files but I'm still experimenting. Also, it seems as if it's not possible to open a note into a separate page of it's own. This is a very helpful feature of legacy and v10 and I used it all the time. However, with the web version I can simply open another tab and it's kind of similar. So gradually I'm finding workarounds to make EN web more usable but I still need to do any major file manipulations on Legacy. For users on this forum who complain about v10 it may be useful to use EN web for a while to get a much better feel for v10.
  4. I think that you can do this pretty easily if you are using EN web. You can take anything eg: a notebook, a note etc and make it into a browser tab. You can even permanently pin it to your browser address bar. I am not a mac user and therefore never even knew about this "tab" feature that you mention. However, I agree that it is a useful feature and I have used it with EN web.
  5. You can also elect to use the 2 factor authentification which is offered by EN on the profile setting. I try to use this for every app or website whenever possible.
  6. Yes, I did the same. Reinstalled the prior version of ENv10 from one of those sites (similar to filehippo) and now it works as it did. I also find that I can use the web version and it works quite well. I too am in the position of not being able to update win 7 at this time for various reasons. I opened up a ticket with EN and they confirmed that this is a "known issue" and they are working to fix it. However, I do not know how to check when and if they fix it. Maybe if one of us discovers this they could post on this forum. PinkElephant posted somewhere that since this is a java script issue it may not be that difficult for the company to fix it; we can only hope.
  7. So if i have a task that says “make appt for dentist” that’s pretty easy. Let’s say a week later I receive a pdf image eg: molar xray that i want to show the dentist on my upcoming visit. I can not quickly attach that file to the appt. Had i created a note that was titled “appt with dentist” i could have attached that pdf into the note. When this happens (and it has happened several times as my tasks increase into projects) i need to re-do the entire task as a note. The last time i did that i erased the noteless task, replaced it with a note/inserted task, appended the files and then duly inserted the WRONG due date by mistake. No more noteless tasks for me unless it’s something like “take out garbage”(i don’t do that anyway).
  8. Yes spaces are removed from texts. Even more annoying is that ios16 has changed Siri dictation! I used to dictate an exclamation point on important notes so that they stay on top. However, now if i say “exclamation mark call airline” it creates this title “callairline”. But if I say “call airline exclamation mark” it gives me “callairlines!” I can’t figure out why it suddenly refuses to put the punctuation where i want it. Almost as if it had been reprogrammed not to punctuate in wrong places. Addendum: just realized that i can dictate AAA or AA in front of the term and it stays on top of the notebook similar to “! “ This works very well.
  9. If I create a noteless task within EN eg: directly from the Tasks module, is there any way to attach a document to it after it has been created? If not this may be a downside to creating tasks in that way. When you create a task from the module there is a little icon which allows you to "Add new task". Next to it are three dots which gives the option of "New note". If you select "Add new task" it creates a noteless task and I don't think you can add any documents to it later. If you select "New note" it gives you the ability to create the task within a note and therefore allow you to add documents or anything else as needed. I"m beginning to really appreciate the value of adding documents to Tasks and therefore would probably not be creating tasks that are not contained within a note (unless the task was something like "take out garbage").
  10. Thanks. That’s unfortunate. I was moving entirely away from EN reminders and solidly into Tasks. But when i discovered Cronify i began to immediately see the advantage of using reminders again. My EN reminders can now send me notifications emails via the Gcal integration. I love that.
  11. Based on recommendations from this forum I have been enjoying using Cronify in conjunction with EN reminders. I can set a reminder in an EN note and it will instantly show up on my Google calendar. However, it doesn't seem to work for reminders that are set on Tasks. For example, if I create a Task with a reminder for tomorrow at 3pm it will not show up in my Google calendar. Apparently the "reminders" that are set on Tasks are not the same as the reminders set in EN notes (even though they appear very similar). Is anyone aware of a way to make Task reminders work with Cronify?
  12. I have a trip coming up and I've added the various elements of the trip as tasks. Airline boarding pass, hotel reservation, rental car. These tasks will be visible on the day that I travel and simply selecting the task will also bring up the notes that contain the relevant information. Likewise, I have a blood test coming up and I've set it up as a task. It will be easily accessible on that day and will also contain the authorization from the doctor that's linked to that task. I think that I like using tasks the most when I can attach documents or notes to that task.
  13. Depending on your situation you may be able to merge a lot of your notes into larger files and then store those elsewhere eg: Google drive, icloud etc. In my case I have thousands of faxes and pdfs that I merge with Adobe Acrobat and then move out of EN into offline storage. If you have entire notebooks that you don't need you can export them as enex files and store those also in offline storage. Bottom line is that I try to have my EN as slim as possible and do not keep notes from 10 years ago lying around.
  14. As far as i can tell this does not work on iphone. I can get to the created date but can not change it.
  15. That's interesting. So one more downside to using win7 for v10. I can't do this on my system. It's not a big deal since I don't have to do it every day and I can always set it up on the browser version or on Legacy. Usually pinning of notes to the top is something fairly infrequent but can be very helpful if that note is for guidance for what comes underneath. Thanks for testing it out for me.
  16. Just wanted to let you know that not only does this script work flawlessly but I've figured out a nice way to use it as an effective memory jog. If I tell Siri to "Create Note" it will simply create a note that sits on top of my inbox until the next note comes in. After a while that note gets buried and ignored under other notes. However, what if I need the note to stay on top because it's something important? To solve this problem I now add "Exclamation mark" in front of the dictation eg: "Exclamation mark doctor appointment 1pm". Now the note is pinned on top of the pile and remains there. Of course one has to have the sort order set for title for this to work. I have found it very helpful for those situations where I need to jog my memory on something really important but don't have time to enter it manually or I'm driving.
  17. I agree that it works in the browser and on legacy but i can’t get it to work on iphone or windows desktop v10. I am using win7 so, if you got it to work on your windows desktop this may be an explanation. However, definitely does not work on iphone. I can see the created date but can’t change it. Can you actually manipulate the created date on your windows desktop version?
  18. Thanks agsteele. However, I do not think you can change the created date even if you go to the three dot menu/Note info. I tried it both on the desktop and on iphone and although I can see the created date I can not change it.
  19. Just tried Cronofy and looks very impressive! Took about 60 seconds to set up and implement. One minute later it was already working. My only question is that the link that is generated in Google Calendar does not seem to link back to Evernote. It simply says "bad gateway" every time I've tried it. Also, from what I can tell if you put a calendar event into Google Calendar it does not seem to show up in Evernote. It would be nice if it showed up as a note with a relevant reminder.
  20. I seem to recall in the past that I was able to change the "created date" such that if I created dates in the future I could fool the sorting structure and have notes arranged in the order that I want. However, in v10 I don't see these options available. Am I missing something or do these features no longer exist?
  21. Thanks for that advice, very interesting. Usually in my specialty what happens is that you purchase a machine in which they have installed a particular version of windows and their own programs which perform specific diagnostic tests. There is no program per se that you load or that you own. It is simply a huge machine that is already completely configured to run the way it is. They tell you that tampering with it in any way will violate the warranty (that they sell you for a fortune). A few years ago something went wrong on one of these machines and it was causing a lot of errors. The company (a German one, by the way) offered to "fix" the problem with a technician visit. Of course, the technician had to fly down from another state and they were charging $4000 for the fix and asking me to wait 2 months. I showed the machine to a clever friend who deduced that the entire problem may be due to a battery that was WELDED onto the motherboard. By cutting through the weld I would violate the warranty but I asked him to do it anyway. We replaced it with another battery ($5 on Amazon) and welded it again so as cover the crime. The device was as good as new. They were going to charge a minimum (maybe more) of $4000 to "fix" this problem.
  22. That's wonderful news (potentially). In the medical field (ie: mine) there are a lot of super-expensive legacy type instruments that are still working on win 7. Just to put in perspective, some of these initially cost $65,000 or more. There is no feasible way to upgrade these devices other than just buying new ones because the predatory manufacturers designed it this way ie: the programs that do the actual measurements would not work with a more advanced operating system. Our work stations are networked with these older devices and are also running win7 to match them. We also have the last "local" versions of Acrobat X on all of our desktops and have probably paid thousands of dollars for that, as well as some other proprietary but outdated stuff that are all working well. Therefore, upgrading to win 10 (which I use at home) would cause untold problems. I am sure that we will have to do this eventually but I would do a lot to avoid it in the meantime. Let's home EN shows some compassion for possibly thousands of their users that may also have issues such as these.
  23. Gudella, Can you tell us where you found this version? I see it mentioned on various Google searches but am a little reluctant to try getting it from an unreliable website. Any help appreciated. Also, when you got this version how did you wind up installing it? Edit: OK, so I found a reliable source and it seems to have given me a good version that works well. I found it at https://www.filepuma.com/download/evernote_10.43.7-33005/download/
  24. For whatever it's worth I opened a ticket on this and had a chat today with Evernote. After sending my log files etc they told me "it's a known issue and we're working to fix it". He specifically said something to the effect that there would be a fix because I asked when it would be available and he suggested that I keep checking. Therefore, I don't know if he was trying to placate me or if there is indeed some work going on with this fix. Of course EN has no obligation whatsoever to devise a fix for an outdated operating system; however, if it's something that is easy to do and would please many of their customers I can't imagine what the downside would be. I understand that in an ideal world all of should be upgrading to the newer operating systems but many of us have specific reasons for not doing so and yet would want to continue enjoying the benefits of EN (we were doing just fine yesterday).
