  1. Nobody likes to pay more for anything and this is understandable. On the other hand, when I see weekly updates and constant improvements it shows me that the company is investing in the product and is committed. When I look at how v10 was in the first few weeks and then compare to how it is now I feel that it has come a very long way indeed. I have seen massive software price increases in many products that simply went from bad to worse (Quicken, Quickbooks, Acrobat etc). Paying more for something that is progressively worsening is truly a slap in the face. However, paying more for something that is incrementally improving is a different story. I realize that a lot of people don't see it this way because they were perfectly content with Legacy and are now comparing it to a more expensive product that they don't like as much. Nonetheless, for many reasons which we do NOT need to revive, we no longer have that option. So the real issue is that we were paying less for a v10 which was unusable and we are now paying more for a v10 which is stable, very usable and improving daily. In fact, if there existed a more expensive solution that was better than v10 I would happily pay for that one instead.
  2. Actually I was inquiring because I sensed a lot of euphoria on this feature and was wondering if perhaps I was missing something. However, after playing with it for a while I am realizing that at most it could save me a few minutes of time daily. Overall, nice to have but I'm not raising the champagne glass on this one. On the other hand, collapsible sections is a real game changer. That one feature has completely changed the way I interface with EN and has solved longstanding issues that bedeviled me for years. Looking forward to more of those types of features.
  3. Not sure why the new slash command feature is such a big deal. It seems as if you can invoke any one of these features by simply going to the "insert" option on the menu above or the "Heading" menu. , which takes the exact same amount of time as typing in a slash. Actually I'm thinking of disabling the slash feature since I don't like the way it pops up constantly as an option. The arrival of the slash command was heralded as a great feature here but, unless I"m missing something, I don't think it moves the needle for me one way or another. Pressing either one of these two buttons gives you the same features as the Slash.
  4. Bingo. That solved the problem! Thanks for the assistance on that. I never noticed that the font was slightly different. Overall very pleased with these collapsible sections.
  5. When trying to use collapsible sections I am running into an issue that lower sections disappear when I collapse the upper ones. It almost appears as if they are nested in the upper ones but I can't figure out why. I'm sure there is an easy explanation but after playing with it for 30 minutes I haven't figured it out. Here is a screen shot of all the sections. All of the sections contain pdf files and text. However, when I try to collapse the third section, all other sections underneath it disappear. This shouldn't happen because the section that is disappearing is itself a collapsible section
  6. I have an employee who is using the online EN. She is under a shared plan with me and I paid a subscription on her behalf. Everything works well except for her access to pdfs within the notes. Most of her pdfs show up in the normal way and she can open, save or print them. However, some are showing up with the name "untitled attachment" even though the note has a title. Those pdfs can not be opened no matter what she does. They appear to be html files and not pdfs. If we try "convert to pdf" or something similar we can see some of it (perhaps the first page) but it still doesn't turn into a real pdf. Those particular pdfs all seem to come from a 3rd party source that we use, Hellofax. They send all of our faxes to a notebook on my EN and I have no problem seeing them as pdfs on my desktop. The problem is just with her online EN and inability to open those pdfs. Anyone know what the issue is here? Thanks in advance.
  7. I have refrained from asking this question but since there are so many posts on this issue I suspect that I am not understanding it. What is the big deal with these "bulleted items". I have been using EN for a decade and have never even used a bullet. I usually use other methods to demarcate that seem just as good. Is the problem with the bullets or with the new software that allows you to collapse the text under the bullets? Although I don't use bullets I was quite enthusiastic about collapsible sections since it would fit nicely into my workflow. However, I will refrain from doing so if it causes lag or other issues. It's hard to get too excited about any flaw in the program because updates are happening so often these days that one literally expects that any perceived issue today will be fixed before you need to adjust your workflow. This is in direct contradistinction to how it used to be when updates were very infrequent and you knew you would be stuck with the problem for 6 months or more.
  8. For the record, I followed Pink's instructions regarding Revo uninstall and it was a surprisingly fast and easy process. In fact, I was amazed when I started to see all of my notes within a few minute of installing the new program. Many people have pointed out that even after doing this and seeing all of your notes there is a lag time of possibly a few days before it's functioning at its maximal capacity. In my case, I felt that within a few hours it felt as fast as it ever was.
  9. If he is locked out of his account I assume he still has access to the evernote data file and can somehow reconstitute his notes with that?
  10. Just out of interest; why does EN show 9 processes working on v10.80.3-win-ddl-public and taking up about 528 MB of CPU. Except for google chrome (which takes up 1800MB) this is the highest.
  11. If the current version caused this problem then I would assume that the next version should solve it (if enough of us complain). I am assuming that this is an EN issue and not a gmail issue. If that's the case then it may not be necessary to look for a work arounds since they seem to update the program fairly frequently. Actually, some of the updates have caused new issues and I may be tempted to not update every single time anymore.
  12. Not sure of the distinction. This little green elephant on the right is no longer working (at least after the last EN update). It used to give me various options. Now I just get an error message. I have submitted a ticket to EN and suggest that everybody who is having this problem do also. It must have been something to do with the last update.
  13. So I tried clearing the cache on my Chrome browser, used CCleaner also, tried Firefox, reinstalled the webclipper, updated Gmail and tried a separate computer. Nothing is working. I can forward the emails to Evernote but can not send it using the Gmail clip feature.
  14. Just noticed a problem with the green elephant method. I can still forward to EN if I bypass the clipper method. I updated Chrome and signed in and out of Gmail but it didn't help.
  15. If it makes you feel better I am a paying customer with two separate paid accounts and I can’t reach tech support either.
  16. Trying to be supportive because I understand the frustration. I loved Legacy and I loved my 6 win 7 desktops at my office. Legacy started to misbehave with win 7 and I was forced to upgrade to v10 which also worked poorly on win 7. Finally, I was compelled to upgrade all 6 desktops to win 10 and to accept v10 into my life. In the process my trusty, old paid-for Adobe X and Quicbooks 9 wouldn’t work well on win 10 and I was forced into their newer, crappier and predatory annual subscriptions. So the arrival of v10 cost me thousands of dollars and I also hated it. After griping and seething I simply had to accept it and change my workflow. Long story short, overall very happy with it now and looking forward to more improvements. I hope this story is helpful to others who may also be in a similar situation.
  17. Pink Elephant doesn't suffer fools very easily. He has close to 25,000 posts and is an absolutely invaluable contributor to this forum. However, even some of his "spicier" posts are immensely entertaining and part of the enjoyment of being on the forum.
  18. I really love the notion that we are part of a cabal of Legacy haters who are being paid by EN to promote v10! If you look through our posts you will find that many of us loved Legacy and were dismayed at early iterations of v10. Some of us (myself included) refused to use v10 for months because it was unacceptable. However, v10 improved by leaps and bounds and it was evident that EN was making a sincere effort to produce a product that would satisfy on all platforms and work in a standardized format. It was also clear that v10 had to give some lip service to both attracting new users and not alienating its avid fans. It also had to accomplish this with limited resources hence no multiple products on multiple platforms. The end result is v10 which has exponentially improved since it's dismal debut and is now a very stable, workable and useful tool. There are still some things missing and I suspect that some of them may never come back due to systemic technological hurdles. On the other hand, I look forward to constant improvements n the future. For those who feel that v10 is unacceptable compared to Legacy there is still the hurdle of trying to decide if something out there is better. If not, then the better part of valor is to work with what you've got and figure out ways to adapt to it. Some things may take more time and some of us may even need to change our workflow to adapt. Many of us felt the same fury when beloved windows 7, Acrobat X, Quickbooks 11, Quicken 7 evolved into products that we felt were worse than the originals. Nonetheless, there will not be a Classic Coke moment happening here no matter how much we wish it were so.
  19. This brings up an interesting point. Recently I have had a lot of problems with my Acrobat pdf files. Acrobat used to work flawlessly for me even though I'm using a very old version ("X"). It hasn't been too long since I upgraded my computers to win 10 and to EN v10 and I reloaded the old Acrobat disc. However, I started to notice problems that I had never seen in 10 years ie: pdfs suddenly closing down by themselves; not being able to conduct a search within a pdf; a pdf file getting corrupted etc. Most of these problems are solved by going to Ctrl-alt-del and shutting down Acrobat and then re-opening. Recently the problem has gotten so bad that I can rely on seeing it almost on a daily basis. I'm starting to wonder it it has something to do with the fact that I open all of my pdfs from EN and some of them are very large (2000 pages). I have downloaded some of them onto my desktop and will try to compare what happens when I work from there and not open from within EN. It really is becoming a scourge and I never suspected that perhaps EN v10 could be the culprit.
  20. Just so you know: there must have been 1000 threads and conversations about Legacy going away. We have been warned time and time and time and time again on this forum. Pink actually is the poster boy for rattling the trees and sounding the alarm. Based on his warnings I upgraded 3 computers to win 10, updated to v10 and started to wean myself away from Legacy 6-8 months ago. I can't imagine that EN corporate possibly told you anything different. In fact, if you even googled "Legacy Evernote" prior to 2 days ago you would have seen countless threads about this. Yes, we all loved it and we wish it weren't so but it's over and time to move on and stop talking about it. Nobody on this forum works for EN and many users here have tirelessly donated their precious time and effort to help us move on to the next steps. I personally get anxious when I see rude comments directed against our experts because their help has been INVALUABLE to me and to thousands of others who read their posts. I have no idea why they expend so much of their obviously valuable time, but thanks to them this forum fills in all the gaps you would otherwise never figure out using the official help features that EN provides.
  21. Can't imagine why you couldn't do that. If I can download an entire notebook into an ipad and an iphone why wouldn't you able to do that on a mac? I'm 99% sure that there are a lot of posts in which this was mentioned and they had no issues with it. There were, however, a few tricks that made it easier eg: disabling screen saving.
  22. This is a good example of something that was better in Legacy. I have adapted so fully to v10 that I barely remembered the previous way until you just mentioned it. It's a little less intuitive now ie: you get multiple notes and you need to combine them. Annotation also works in a little different manner (if I remember correctly). Overall, it requires a short period of adaptation. Another big advantage of Legacy was the ease of handling pdfs across notes ie: moving them , dragging and copying between notes etc. There is no question that it is more cumbersome in v10. As I adapted I found work-arounds to those things that became more cumbersome and appreciated those things that improved. If I had the option of using Legacy I would; but it's not productive to keep pining away for something that is dead and buried when there is an acceptable although imperfect alternative.
  23. Yes, I faced the same issue. Look up some of Pink's comments about this issue. I followed his advice and downloaded all my relevant stuff to my local iphone and ipad. I tested it before I left by switching into airplane mode or shutting down the internet connection (my ipad only works on wifi) and I could see that all the stuff I needed had downloaded locally. It worked seamlessly throughout my trip even though I was in places with poor or no internet access.
  24. Yes. It does work. Before your trip you need to make sure that your notes are locally stored. This is a somewhat annoying process where you need to keep the active screen of the ipad or iphone (or whatever you use) open as you download the data to your local source. In my case I de-activated the feature that turns the screen off and I selected the notebooks that I wanted to download. You will see a little icon which indicates which notebooks are stored locally. You can google the specific instructions (it's very easy). It does work.
