  1. agsteele's post in Regarding screenshot saving was marked as the answer
OK. Got it now. This is a web clipper issue.
I don't think I've ever thought of using the web clipper to capture screen shots. So I've no experience of that to offer.
Web Clipper will capture a screenshot which it will place into a new note in your chosen notebook. You are correct that you cannot save, by that method, into a specific note.
On Windows 11 Win+Shift+S will give you a pair of cross hairs to highlight what you want to capture. Then open the desired note and paste Ctrl+V.
I think that should work on Windows 10 too.
  2. agsteele's post in Windows "send to" function - can't set that up any longer? was marked as the answer
Ah, so you have the Microsoft Store app. That version of Evernote suffers a number of limitations brought on by being in the store. One is, I think, the automatic creation of the send to link.  However, all is not lost.  Your first option is to uninstall the store app and download and install the app direct from the Evernote website.  That should automatically fix the send-to link.
Alternatively, if you want to stick with the store application I think you can do the following. I'm not absolutely certain since I haven't got the store app installed to try out.
    1. Create a shortcut to the store app on your desktop.
Open the Run dialog with Win+R then enter shell:AppsFolder Locate the shortcut icon for Evernote Copy and Paste to the desktop 2. Open the Windows sendto folder Win+R and enter shell:sendto
Copy the Evernote shortcut and paste into the sendto folder 3. Test that the sendto link now works. It will depend on the Store app accepting sendto activity.
Let us know how that goes.  For sure using the download from the Evernote website will resolve this issue and avoid other limitations of the Store app.
  3. agsteele's post in PDF Files Garbled when placed into a folder to be imported. was marked as the answer
I would put this down to using the different monitors. You can only experiment and see which works.
Although you have been working this way for years, you now have a new PC on Windows 11. This is as good as starting afresh.
  4. agsteele's post in What is the right way to back up Evernote data? was marked as the answer
Evernote-backup does two things. First off all it creates a local database. I run it every Sunday and the local database is updated to match the online copy. You can then, as required run it to create the notebook ENEX files. These ENEX files are created from the locally backed up database. So nothing affects the master copy. It is a simple backup which you can then import.
But I note again, the cloud copy is your safest backup.
  5. agsteele's post in Android app repeated shut down was marked as the answer
Not seen this at all. I'd suggest uninstall and reinstall the app. If you continue to get the issue then open a support ticket.
  6. agsteele's post in Manually back up Windows 10.46.7? was marked as the answer
@steveo2q Thanks for your note.  As you realise v10 of Evernote stores data in an entirely different way.  Sync to the cloud is more or less instant. v10 does not create a .EXB file.  If you still have one on your PC it is left over from the Legacy version.  If you still have Legacy installed then it will sync on its normal cycle and update from the cloud.  In that situation you will have two separate copies of Evernote running.  This isn't a problem provided you work in one at a time.
So no EXB to backup with v10.  The Legacy version offered the option to exporet a whole account backup as as ENEX file. However that has always come with one major drawback. ENEX files do not keep the notebook structure. So if you used it to restore you would get all your notes in one large notebook.
So the best practice method of bhacking up was always to export each notebook to its own ENEX.  This same function exists in v10. Open a notebook. At the top of the snippet view column tap the ... three dot menu and select Export Notebook. Slightly quicker if you have multiple notebooks is to open the notebook view and, again, select the three dot menu by each notebook and export.  You end up with an ENEX file for each notebook which can be restored as you desire to an appropriately named notebook.
If you want to automate this process there are a number of third party applications.  I use a Github project called evernote-backup.  Search the forums for what others are doing.
Of course you can simply backup the Evernote v10 directories using a standard Windows backup program.  In that case you will want to have %AppData%\Evernote backed up.  This is the data directory for v10.
  7. agsteele's post in Help starting evernote desktop with a batch file was marked as the answer
No disrespect perceived. Extra information always helps
I had a couple of spare moments and created the most basic of batch files:
C:\Users\myWindowsUsername\AppData\Local\Programs\Evernote\Evernote.exe I was able to run this as administrator and Evernote started.  However I did notice that there was a bunch of program response in the command prompt window but it all ended correctly.  So I guess that the response from Evernote.exe is tripping up your batch file.  I couldn't comment on the BATCH code you're using. I'm sure that it is well written. Just to note that there are no command line switches for Evernote 10. Perhaps place Evernote as the last item in your batch file and don't exit or end the batch file.
  8. agsteele's post in Cronify and Evernote Tasks was marked as the answer
It isn't currently possible to use Cronofy with Evernote Tasks reminders. Cronofy is a third-party application which depends upon the Evernote API and this doesn't support Tasks yet.
  9. agsteele's post in I have problem to get backup of 6500 Notes was marked as the answer
You can access your data to backup in Evernote but exporting notebooks. But I think you want something else. I use an external backup routine. Others are content with the device backup.
Evernote had provided a process but that doesn't suit everyone.
  10. agsteele's post in Please stop the popups for upgrades was marked as the answer
There are a number of threads on this issue. Take a look around and perhaps as your vote on this issue. You'll likely also see some suggested resolutions. Marketing options can be selected in your account settings. It is suggested that instead of cancelling the pop up, instead, start the upgrade but then cancel without paying. There is some indication that this stops the regular reminders.
  11. agsteele's post in Accessing tasks via API was marked as the answer
You are correct the API hasn't been updated to include tasks, or any of the new features.
I think the best guess is that this won't happen until v10 developments are more complete.
  12. agsteele's post in Work chat is gone V.10.44.8 was marked as the answer
Check in your account settings that WorkChat is enabled.
  13. agsteele's post in Can Evernote Tasks be shown on Google Calendar? was marked as the answer
No. The Google Calendar link is one directional. You can view events inside Evernote but cannot add to the calendar from Evernote. Also, Tasks has no link out.
  14. agsteele's post in Can't Install EN 10+ on New Chromebook Due to a Legacy Android Version was marked as the answer
You are probably searching but my favourite search engine took me to this page which includes the Lenovo Ideapad Duet as being eligible for upgrade to Android 11. Not sure if this works for you but there are instructions...
    https://beebom.com/get-android-11-update-chromebook/
Personally, I wouldn't follow the Beta channel option suggested. Once you are Beta, switching back to release channel erases your data
Perhaps Lenovo is the place to enquire for a release schedule.
  15. agsteele's post in Evernote Downgraded my Subscription Privilege 1 month too early was marked as the answer
Account issues need to be taken up direct with Evernote. You can open an Account/Billing ticket regardless of status.
  16. agsteele's post in incorrect received date was recorded when save gmail to EN via gmail add-on was marked as the answer
I don't typically use the Gmail add-on since I moved away from Google hosting my domain.  But I still have my personal Gmail account so popped in there and used the add-on to add an Email into my Evernote default folder.  I tried with both Gmail in my desktop browser and on my Gmail app on my Android  phone.  Both added the Email to my Evernote account and both times the date/time remained as in the original Email.
So I 'd think that this might relate to oddities in the message headers.  As you say possibly a local time zone issue.  But it didn't affect me for a message sent from someone in my UK time zone.
I don't think anyone in these forums is likely to be able to assist you. You will likely need to open a ticket with technical support to investigate.
  17. agsteele's post in Images won’t upload anymore from Mac was marked as the answer
This issue feels like it is going to be firewall, VPN or other issue. I really don't it will be the Evernote application since this is the only instance of this being reported. While you are waiting for sorry to respond you could try temporarily disabling the various security settings to see if they assist. Also connecting via a different network... Instead of the normal WiFi or LAN try using a mobile hotspot.
  18. agsteele's post in How to UN Highlight text in notes? was marked as the answer
Mark the section of text you wish to un-highlight with the mouse and click the highlighter button.  If, for some reason that doesn't work then tap the highlighter a second time and all should be good. If any character in the marked section of text (such as a leading or trainling space) is not already highlighted then the first click will extend the highlighting to the additional space.
  19. agsteele's post in Sharing a screenshot to Evernote doesn't work was marked as the answer
I've found the most recent Android app needs to be brought to the foreground before I share content.
Tap Evernote to bring it forward
Go to the screenshot and follow the share process.

  20. agsteele's post in Tasks linked to a note was marked as the answer
Tap on the Notes tab which will support by note name. You can then tap the note name to open the relevant note.
  21. agsteele's post in Image in Snippet view does not update when you replace the image. was marked as the answer
This is a well known issue and has been discussed a number of times in the forums.
There is no solution other than to create a new note containing the image of preference and then paste in the text once the new snippet image has been created. Then delete the original version.
  22. agsteele's post in Downloading from Evernote site problem was marked as the answer
The button doesn't seem to work in all browsers. It is a standard browser alternative unrelated to Evernote.
There is no option to install on an alternative drive. Some more tech focused users have achieved using a workaround using symbolic links - symlinks. Search the forums or use your favourite search engine.
  23. agsteele's post in Formatting with Checkboxes was marked as the answer
You are experiencing the new checklist format. Check boxes need to be surrounded by other text or they will be converted to the new format.
You will find many discussions of this change in the forum's. A quick search should help you.
  24. agsteele's post in Notes from other devices not syncing was marked as the answer
It is hard to say. Syncs do, sometimes, take a few minutes.
On your desktop I'd first try File / Sign Out / Remove data from this device
Log back in and allow your data to be rebuilt.
If that doesn't fix then a complete uninstall using an uninstaller such as Revo Uninstall on Windows.

  25. agsteele's post in Can't log into any either of my devices - Says I need to unsync a device, but I only use two? was marked as the answer
It is still possible that Evernote had more than two connected - possibly from the past. In settings go to your account devices and remove all connected devices then log back in again.
