Wouldn't help to set the updated date field. Next time you touch a note it would be set to a new value again. To group notes together, use tags, or create a TOC note that holds links to all linked notes. The new Backlinks feature in v10 facilitates navigation between linked notes. About speed: You need to wait for some days until the whole setup is running at speed. It needs to organize everything into the new data structure. Even then, when you open a note that has not yet been converted to the new data structure, there will be a delay. It is a one timer per note. v10 is the most feature complete EN we ever had. Some details from legacy may be gone, but we got Home, Tasks, a new Editor, Backlinks and RTE syncing on top, just to name a few. Legacy was the low point in degradation: No new features for years, only stagnation. Since v10 we have got innovation, and since the takeover from the former owners it seems they get their act together.

It doesn't play a role where the notebook is located. Just add this to the title of the email before you send it: @notebookname will send it to that notebook, no matter if in a stack or not. #tagname will enter this tag (several tags possible)

I think (without knowing) that Apple tries to determine which receiving app has a format that allows the sharing. Apps that don't have it are excluded from sharing into that specific app, even if they are selected in MacOS settings. Pages for example allows to share to EN, but not directly: When hitting "Share", EN is not on the list, But there is an option "Export & Share". It first asks to save the document. Then there is an option "Export and send". When I choose it, I get the regular export dialogue. From there I can choose a format, and share the file to EN. This works - but in effect I can save a file from Pages in a number of formats, but NOT as Pages document. Crazy - but this is IMHO done by MacOS, not by EN.

Maybe somebody on Android gives a try. Tried on iOS, works as it should: One attachment deleted. When I undo, it's back.

Mac mini, right now. The sharing doesn't even show. But it is there in MacOS settings: Observe from the list of apps that should be in the Sharing dropdown that others don't show up either (like Fotos). Others that are not listed in MacOS settings are there in the dropdown (Like Pages) 🤷‍♂️

Having an ... elephant's image does help, somehow.

I have had any version of this in the last year (all on Sonoma, MBP 15"/2018, MBP 14"/2023, Mac mini M1): Share list without EN, share list with EN, but the position not working, share list with EN & working. I could not find out yet what makes a difference, and it went from working to not working to working to disappearing on the same Mac. Working on one Mac, at the same time not working on the second, with the same config and release versions. I assume it is a MacOS issue.

Oh, yes, they will just do for notes what Todoist does for Tasks: 🤣

Exotic use case indeed … Just copied 4 links to random websites to a Pages document. Then selected them, copy and paste into a note. The result were 4 perfectly usable links in the note. Each one opened the designated website without any mistake. It seems it is a crooked source that creates an issue here.

It’s definitely a Win 11 problem. Works fine on MacOS, for example.

@tuulikki It works differently in v10: Each screenshot is directly saved as a note. If you want them combined, clip everything you want to clip. Then select the notes and merge them.

Evernote general discussions … Nothing about the client used … Nothing about the OS used … “Each of those notes“, unexplained … Sorry, my Palantir is out for maintenance. I see an Apple in the mists, but this doesn’t help.

Probably a font incompatibility. Since the fonts in v10 are standardized, but the fonts in legacy were not, you could have used any font back there. If they are not compatible to the in app fonts of the new client, remove the bullets, and set them again.

Exotic use cases should be properly explained. What sort of links ? Which origin ? Just to say „oh, they are links, and it used to work to copy them“ has no meaning. Only if it can be reproduced, we can understand what is meant. Beside this there is no relevance in telling „XYZ doesn’t work any more“. V10 is no prolongation of legacy. It is a completely newly designed app. Copycating legacy was never intended. If something that did work in legacy doesn’t work anymore, my only comment is „Shrug - then it doesn’t work“. There is no need it must, and it is nothing wrong if it doesn’t. Only who got stuck with legacy will still be whinnying about milk spilled in transition.

What is your type of Mac, your screen configuration (multiple screens, resolution ?) and on which version of MacOS are you ?

Just a side remark: For an account with probably highly sensitive information, there should be 2FA enabled in addition to a strong, unique password. It would be better for every account, but in this case that’s for sure - for all users who have access. EN is not HIPAA compliant.

Personally I don’t use Chrome (as I avoid Google products and services in general). Can only contribute that EN Web works fine on Safari, Firefox and Edge for me.

EN doesn’t claim handwriting support, and in fact it doesn’t really work well with handwriting. Anybody who wants to go into handwriting should look for a dedicated handwriting app. When you observe what they do, it is easy to understand why EN will never be able to support it. The basic data model of EN is HTML, and this is entirely text oriented.

Some general search advise, this from the iOS client: Search the note, open it. Usually you get a list of notes, and the search can’t decide which one to use for a deep dive. So you decide. Then use the in-note search to locate the location in the note. The in-note search field will already be filled with your prior search term, so it’s just click it and hit Enter. You have arrows to jump from one place to the next - they are highlighted. Or open the attachment and use the in-attachment search to locate it there. You get a thumbnail view with all hits in the document, sorted by pages, and can usually select the right spot. This is fine with large attachments. Where it becomes tedious is when there are several files attached to a single note. In such a case you need to open them one by one, if you don’t know which one is the one you are looking for. Happens for me maybe in 1 out of 50 searches.

Cmd-W is a general MacOS shortcut. The signs you describe speak for a broken local database. To fix it, get the app AppCleaner. Log out of EN, quit the app. Now use AppCleaner to remove all traces of EN from your Mac. Restart the Mac, download the installer from the EN website. Install, open, log in. Leave it running for a while in the background while it downloads your notes from the server.

Choose whatever you want. Do you blame EN to forget to raise the prices or stop your subscription, grandfathered since long ? OK, they are just correcting this. These subscriptions are not for light use any more. But this you found out yourself. Good luck with your alternative.

EN is a cloud service. They don’t need to make their software „available“ for anybody, just because there are some legacy forever diehards. They offer a service based on a subscription, it updated to a new version more than 3 years ago. Now they took the business decision to stop offering the service based on the old, deprecated software (for reasons explained in their blog). That‘s it, move ahead or leave.

There never was, and there is no possibility in v10 to store content ONLY locally. Some clients allow to store a copy of the cloud servers database on local memory. But it is always, 100% syncing with the server.
