  1. We are in danger of arguing over semantics but I don't think this is technically a template. The Oxford English Dictionary defines a template as I agree that being able to store tables, checklists etc and then copy them into a note would be useful. Personally I have a reference note with some of those things in and I just copy and paste as necessary.
  2. It's not supposed to be good enough! It's a another work around. It simply gives you another option until EN implement tags in templates or you decide to go elsewhere. As you have clearly described, going elsewhere also requires compromises - there is no perfect app. Going back to the comma separated list of tags workaround. If you put them in the first line of your template and have "start a note in the body" as your option, then the following key sequence (no mouse) adds them as tags (Windows shortcuts, mac may differ) shift+End Ctrl+X F3 Ctrl+V F2 (returns to title area) Enter (goes to body of note) I personally would automate this process using AutoHotKey.
  3. A small step in the right direction would be allow any template (EN's or our own) to appear under suggested templates on a new note. I really don't know why EN has decided that only 9 of their almost 90 tempates and none of mine can be added. How do they know which are most important to me?
  4. All I can do is point out other ways of doing things. EN templates have never had tags, so this particular issue is nothing to do with V10. I agree there are (for me) more workarounds in V10 than in legacy and I'm certainly making good use of AutoHotKey to give me extra functionaility some of which was available in legacy and some wasn't. I'm actually much more concerned about the number of bugs than missing functionaility but that is a personal view based on my particular work flow.
  5. The web and desktop versions are different because you can't right click on the web as that gives you browser commands. There are also two places you can work with tags. This is what I am seeing (10.81.4 on windows, 10.81.6 on web). Sidebar Windows desktop No three dots. Right click to access menu: Web (Chrome browser) No three dots so can't doing anything from here (other than click the tag to filter obviously) Main tags pop out window Windows desktop Three dots when you hover over a tag or right clicking give the same menu as above Web (Chrome browser) Three dots when you hover over a tag gives the same menu as above
  6. I would definitely like to be able to type a date (creation, reminder, task etc - they are all as bad) in any reasonable format and have EN parse it into a date. This is basic stuff which many apps have been able to do for years (no AI necessary!) In the meantime, Sorting by date can be achieved by adding the date in iso 8601 format (YYYY-MM-DD) at the beginning of the title, but that won't help in searching for a date range. I might use a year tag, so that if I wanted to search for a range of a few years it wouldn't be too onerous to create the search. You could also have a month tag if required. Remember boolean search is now available for everybody so it's easier to create complex searches, although the original search syntax works in most cases. tag:1932 AND (tag:Feb OR tag:Mar OR tag:Apr) You could also search for decades with tag:194* However, to find all notes created in the 1940s intitle:194* would also work if you went down the date in the title route. It's also possible that intitle:1932-02 OR intitle:1942-03 OR intitle:1942-04 would also work (might ned a * after the date) Not ideal, but its a possible way forward if you want to continue using EN and EN don't improve their date input system.
  7. I agree with you. There are however plenty of ways of avoiding using templates at all. If you have a notebook of "template notes", which can contain tags, you can then just duplicate or copy them. The only disadvantage is that you will probably want to manually change the creation date. Another alternative is to export your template note as an enex file and choose not to save the creation date. I put that enex file on my desktop. Double clicking (Windows) the enex file then creates the note in my default folder with the current time as creation date.
  8. It's not obvious but you can click on the year (or month) to get a list. Not easy but easier than going back through each month If you need to go back earlier than 2015, click on 2015 and then click on 2015 in the date field
  9. True. If I know the name of the tag and persevere with typing it does eventually come up in the "add filter" section of the main search. I don't really see that the issue is a separate section for tags. A separate section containing only one tag is not going to be any help either! I don't think it would. We should be able to add a filter in whichever way we choose. That should then be automatically added to the search as well as to the filter. This is what is supposed to happen, as evidenced by the fact that if you do a forced reload the tag appears under the search bar as explained above.
  10. If I understand what you are saying, then it doesn't work for me. As noted above the thing that does work is opening the target note in a new window by ctrl clicking the link. The only time this works for me is if you also clear the search in the main window.
  11. Another update. As noted above the trick to using search after filter is to ensure that the filter appears underneath the search bar. There is a trick that is working for me today (no saying it will work tomorrow!). If you do a force reload (ctrl+shift+R) the filter is added to the search and you can the search as normal. The only disdvantage of a reload is that it refreshes certain things you might not want refreshing. For me these are tag structure is collapsed Any filters on tasks are removed
  12. Just other EN users here. If you want to communiucate directly to EN you will need to contact them directly. Also worth explaining why sorting by tags is important for your workflow and cannot be done in any other way.
  13. The nearest you can do at the moment is to have EN web open at the same time. Peel off the tab and shrink it horizontally so it just shows the tasks (and the collapsed side bar)
  14. If you edit the link, so that you can see the actual link, is it in internal link format (begins evernote:///) or a regualr weblink?
  15. It depends. I assume EN expect you to update the header style. Then every time you use that header, within the note, you get the updated style. However when you turn this note into a template the header styles are reset back to default. The same happens if you copy or duplicate the note. So you would need to modify the header styles but not update them. They would then survive the templating process and if you wanted to you could then update the styles in the newly created note. Does this sound like madness? I agree, but my atempts to get EN to acknowledge that this is a problem have fallen on deaf ears.
  16. Just one other thought. The filter in the tasks pop out searches in both the individual tasks and the containing note book names. So you could add your "tags" to the name of the notebook. I really like the EN tasks philosophy of having tasks in the notes with all the accompanying info needed and having the ability to then pull out all those tasks into a more traditional task list. The ability to pull out the tasks from a subset of notes filtered by tag (or any other criteria) would be an awesome additional feature.
  17. Not directly. You would need to use the filter menu (or the equivalent advanced search syntax) to find notes that contain tasks and contain a specific tag. You would then need to look in the individual notes for the tasks. The equivalent search syntax for the search shown in the screen shot is tag:$action contains:taskNotCompleted
  18. See this post for an interesting (to me anyway!) additional point.
  19. @Jon lowbank @Steve2014 Just a quick update on this issue. If you add the initial tag by searching for it in the main search bar you can then search correctly. You need to make sure that the tag appears underneath the search bar If you add the tag in any other way (list below of ways I've tried) you don't get the tag incorporated into the search as shown in the screen shot. The main problem with this is that the main search is rubbish at finding tags! Other ways I've tried Clicking a tag in the sidebar clicking a tag in the main tags pop out window using the filter Searching for the tag using ctrl+Q (which btw does an excellent job of searching for tags if you add characters from the beginning of the tag name ) Filtering by a tag from the tag list at the bottom of a note Not really a great workaround but it helps me understand why very ocassionally it seemed to work for me - obviously the times I've added the tag this way.
  20. You can't turn it off. Personally I don't think it should work within code blocks but it does. The good news is that if I copy it from the code block and paste it back into my IDE it returns it back to the original string.
  21. What I'm asking is does it work on different networks. We don't know whether you are using it at home or work or using mobile data or what.
  22. At the moment you are stuck with enter (or click) to edit the note and then ctrl+F to jump to the first occurence. Hitting enter will then cycle through the occurrences. I'm not sure that this is really that much more complicated than the compromise you are asking for, although I agree not as straightforward as legacy.
  23. Obvious question but I don't think we've asked it. I assume the mobile devices don't work on either your own wifi or wifi elsewhere or data?
  24. @Steve2014 Your process is exactly the same as mine. See my description here: My support ticket for this was raised on Oct 10, 2023 (10.63.3!!) and still no meaningful response. Don't really understand this comment. My AHK script (see further down the post above) chooses any tag from the sidebar and puts tag:tagName into the search bar. So instead of hovering over a tag and clicking it to use the filter you hover over the tag and run the ahk script. @gazumped The support ticket number is #3764929 incase you can work any magic!
