  1. Clcik the tag to filter by it and then create a new note.
  2. I'm still getting the expected behaviour - searching for a word in quotation marks only finds that exact word. I would definitely try searching on the web version to see if that is the same. Also try searching for "foot " (wih a space) and 'foot' (single quotation marks) incase EN isn't recognising double quotation marks on your keyboard.
  3. Given all the things for which you can use contains/the filter menu for I'm surprised that EN links and backlinks are not included. Surely more useful than contains:numberInteger! @PinkElephant's suggestion of contains:url is a good one (certainly for finding links). However this will also give clickable emails, note urls and web adresses in the body of the note. This search string makes some progress in weeding these out - but I still have results that I don't understand. The danger of course is that if your note has both external web links and internal links they will not appear. contains:url NOT (contains:webclip OR contains:email OR http*) I'm using a Boolean search string as this is now available for everybody and seems to give slightly different (better?) results than the traditional (add a "-" to negate) method.
  4. You really notice this lag if you use the new insert "new linked note" function. The new note is created but it does yet have a backlink. I guess that is why the blue pop up, that appears when you create the note, advises you to use the back button to go back to the original note.
  5. Remember searches and filters are different If you click a tag in the sidebar it will automatically filter "Notes" ie all notebooks. Same if you click a tag in the tags pop out window. If you use the filter menu it will filter the current view If you search for a tag (using the main search bar) and you are in a notebook it will default to searching just in that notebook unless you click on everywhere If you search for a tag (using the main search bar) and you are in Notes it will search in all notes If you use ctrl+Q (which is much better at finding tags than the main search provided you know what the tag stsrts with) it will always search in all notes
  6. As I've noted elsewhere it is possible to "convert" the filter to a "search" by pressing force reload (ctrl+shift+R). (If it doesn't work first time try it again). To me this means that this is definitely a bug and not a concious decision to prevent a "tag then search" workflow. The tag should be added to the search but for some reason it isn't unless you reload. Now we need somebody at EN to actually deliver on the promise to work on all the bugs in 2024 (You're already had a quarter of 2024 EN and I am still affected by just as many bugs).
  7. On Windows {Windows key}+shift+F brings up the whole application with the search bar opened. If you don't want to use search pressing esc removes it.
  8. As I have already pointed out this is an option and therefore does not distingush between checklists and checkboxes
  9. I think part of the problem is a poor decision (in my opinion) to use / as the "command". If they had used ctrl+/ (I know that is already in use - see below) they would have much more flexibility. We also wouldn't get an unwanted, distracting menu pop up everytime we type / and actaully want the / character. If I use ctrl+/ to open the keyboard shortcuts list when my focus is on the note list, the keyboard shortcut list opens and my focus is moved to the search at the top of the shortcuts. Perfect. If I use ctrl+/ when I am editing a note both the keyboard shortcuts list and the insert menu open and my focus is left in the text. A pain. I completely agree that we should have consistency, although by comparison with other auto formatting I don't believe this is a good example of inconsitency. The different behaviour of notebooks and tags, which you describe, is a much better one.
  10. There is certainly no option to automatically delete a task on completion. You haven't said what your workflow is so it is difficult to comment on the easiest way of manually deleting. If you are working with a list of tasks in the task view window then the easiest way is probably to open the task rather than complete it (click on the task name). You can then complete it in the task pop up and then press "Delete task" at the bottom. Personally I use the option to hide completed tasks inthe task view and then periodically clear out completed tasks from notes so they don't really get i my way
  11. This is how it seems to work for me. If I change the sort order for a notebook it changes all notebooks and is persistent "Notes" has it's own sort order which can be different from my notebook sort order and is again persistent If I filter by tag I get the same sort order as "Notes" (as this is just subset of all notes ignoring notebooks) None of the above actions give me the option to sort by relevance If I search for a tag in the main search bar, I get the option to sort by relevance but it still defaults to my "Notes" preference. It's possible that it has adapted to my consistent refusal to use "relevance" as a sort order! If you do normally search for tags to add them, remember there are three ways of doing this Search in the main search bar - normally only get one tag and you may end up having to type in the whole tag name Switch to (ctrl + Q on Windows - don't know what Mac is) which does a good job of finding tags beginning with the text added The main tags pop out tags window, which finds every tag that has the search text in it.
  12. It's perhaps worth noting that the embedding of spreadsheets into a note is one of the things that EN decided to offer to all users. Therefore you get all spreadsheet functionaility including filtering and sorting. It's definitely not a perfect preview (fixed cell height and width) and you can't interact directly with the data (you have to open the spreadsheet for that) but it is worth bearing in mind.
  13. We are not talking about typing a command. I don't think Windows can possibly know that / is a command in EN. If you select text and press any of the "autoformatting" combinations in EN they will delete the text. The same happens if you highlight text to make it into a link. Ctrl+k or the insert menu or the tool bar icon adds the text to the "text" section of the link menu. Typing / deletes the text.
  14. I'm afraid I can't add anything to the discussion of what happens to checkboxes created in legacy as it is a long time since I used legacy. Going forward there are now two features, Check boxes and checklists. Checklists are lists so can be dragged around into different orders, indented etc. There is also the option to strike through text when a checklist is completed. They can be added using the menu commands or the {open square braket}{close square bracket} shortcut as the beginning of a line. Hitting enter at the end of the line automatically creates the next checklist item. Checkboxes are stand alone and can be added anywhere. You can use multiple checkboxes in a row. They are more like a character. However if you attempt to add a checkbox at the beginning of a line EN will automatically turn it into a checklist. The workaround is to add a character (eg a period) before the checkbox. The filter/search for notes containing checklists/checkboxes is a bit hit and miss - search for a full discussion on the forum if that is important to you. I tend to use checklists most as I like the crossing out and the ability to easily sort them into an order. I mainly use checkboxes if I want to use multiple checkboxes in a row.
  15. I'm not really sure the / was intended to be used like that. If you slect text and hit any key the text is replaced by that key. This default Windows behaviour kicks in before the menu appears. If you are going to select some text and turn it into a code box I guess you will either have to use the insert menu or even better the keyboard shortcut (ctrl+shift+L)
  16. I agree with @gazumped that some more information would be useful but given that you are using the web version I would try deleting all the site data in your browser. In Chrome this is done by going to the Evernote web version and clicking the "View site information" icon to the left of the url 🢂 Cookies and site data 🢂 manage on device site data 🢂 and then delete the data using the trash can icons. When you go to the site again and login, Evernote will have to download the "app" and data so it should solve any corruption issues.
  17. I really love this new feature, accessible using the / command or from the insert menu. But why does it not resspect my preference (text) for the format of Evernote links set in settings? Answering my own question, I expect it is because the "Title" view is dynamic - it changes if you change the title of the target note. But even if I set my preference to preview (which is dynamic) I get still title. I guess I will just have to change it from "title" to "text" when I want the link to have other text on the same line (my main objection to the title view, together with the double click required to open the link)
  18. One "interesting" feature is that the code block and inline text converts <= and >= into the correct mathematical symbol but leaves it untouched in the main body of the note. This is exactly the opposite of the behaviour I would expect. My main use of EN code blocks is to store important snippets of code, and although it looks weird, it does always copy back to my IDE correctly.
  19. Boolean search is now available for everybody so you can actually get the same result with created:20240325 NOT created:20240327 which is possibly easier for somebody not experienced in the advanced search syntax.
  20. It could be a typo but you need a space between the two terms created:20240325 -created:20240327 You can also use the filter menu to filter using the same criteria
  21. We are in danger of arguing over semantics but I don't think this is technically a template. The Oxford English Dictionary defines a template as I agree that being able to store tables, checklists etc and then copy them into a note would be useful. Personally I have a reference note with some of those things in and I just copy and paste as necessary.
  22. It's not supposed to be good enough! It's a another work around. It simply gives you another option until EN implement tags in templates or you decide to go elsewhere. As you have clearly described, going elsewhere also requires compromises - there is no perfect app. Going back to the comma separated list of tags workaround. If you put them in the first line of your template and have "start a note in the body" as your option, then the following key sequence (no mouse) adds them as tags (Windows shortcuts, mac may differ) shift+End Ctrl+X F3 Ctrl+V F2 (returns to title area) Enter (goes to body of note) I personally would automate this process using AutoHotKey.
  23. A small step in the right direction would be allow any template (EN's or our own) to appear under suggested templates on a new note. I really don't know why EN has decided that only 9 of their almost 90 tempates and none of mine can be added. How do they know which are most important to me?
  24. All I can do is point out other ways of doing things. EN templates have never had tags, so this particular issue is nothing to do with V10. I agree there are (for me) more workarounds in V10 than in legacy and I'm certainly making good use of AutoHotKey to give me extra functionaility some of which was available in legacy and some wasn't. I'm actually much more concerned about the number of bugs than missing functionaility but that is a personal view based on my particular work flow.
