A forum Troll and heavy Evernote user for close to a year who wrote over 100 pages in the app in multiple notebooks and who used the latest features, then went against his closest mentors advice by dropping this software because of its heavy fees, lack of Android support, difficult to export from file extension and realization that publishing from this software wasnt going to work as well as a lack of clarity on why GPS coordinates are included in notes although I can definitely understand how that fits into a long term development roadmap. But yea - a troll. Truth is - Evernote is not a note taking software, it is intended to be something completely different in the next few years. My guess is some kind of mobile/AR/VR tagging and authoring software over the long haul but for now I sure cant afford it.

Cheaper (free) and easier, without gps logging: EMAIL draft mode, any software.

Host Locally on Mobile - Wordpress has instructions on how to do it, or host on Desktop. Issue: lost mobile, lost notes, unless a regular backup is set. No plugins needed for features that match Evernote. Use Case is: take notes for free, backup to devices, and publish to web when needed. This is a trap, I'm out.

I will bet you $1 million that everything I have done with Evernote I can do with Wordpress and a great deal more (for free)by using the draft page function with layout and formatting functions at the level of a marketing professional. Very stupid of me to not realize this sooner. Never had a single use case for tagging my notes with GPS either although now Im considering building that function into a Mapbox Page. No doubt people already do this with Evernote, but $10 a month with limited options for import and export abd constant crashing on Android / Kindle just doesnt make sense. If the Android support was here maybe I would have stayed longer.

Saw that Evernote can publish direct to HTML which seems useful, but why do that if I can just run Wordpress on my mobile device? Also - opening an Evernote file in Notepad++ shows latitude, longitude, and altitude information instead of the note contents. Looks like I might be publishing my coordinates. A previous response mentions privacy concerns, not sure how I could get around this without a lot of extra HTML editing. Also - Wordpress is free and already formatted. Seriously considering a major switch to my mote taking but I have to save to PDF then save to word to even get the notes into a usable file format.

Much appreciated, didnt realize the forum is public - edited. Current issues on my Kindle Fire: Full Browser support - Firefox / Chrome, etc. Unless features on those browsers are being blocked somehow. Android App Crashing.

Evernote login / security is acceptable, no issues from me. Better than any Yellowpages. Evernote shoud work by default in all mobile browsers and screensizes, but thank you for the workaround. If not, that definitely needs to be fixed. Pretty foundational feature for any website / app. Never seen that acronym.

Evernote crashes on startup, gets stuck on the first note shown. Reinstall doesnt repair the issue. Unusable on my Kindle Fire. Happy to share crash logs etc.

Copy/paste from word removes formatting and random words / reorganizes the words.

Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, and OneNote have some pretty good widgets that show lists of documents or document content. I would love to be able to see the content of one of my notes, or a scrollable list of all of them as an Android Widget.
