  1. Sorry, I meant 2,000-3,000MB, not kilobytes. Yeah, I remember programming in C, trying to squeeze every byte out of memory. My first computer at 64K of memory. I know, because I loaded all the chips myself.
  2. In my system memory use is as follows EN6 73Mb EN10 475Mb Nimbus 700Mb Notion 529MB But I have 32MB. Chrome eats up 2-3K and Lightroom is usually open at 3-5K
  3. No, I said the syncing was flaky. 15-20 seconds as in the Android app, including time to start the app and type in the search term. I wanted to test speed IRL, not just how quick it returned searches. All the apps, whether web, desktop or Android were equally good at searching.
  4. I think it will be more than a couple of months, just based on how slowly they develop. But I don't think it will be years. At some point, they will change the engine behind syncing and that is when it will break. Of course, as a standalone app, there is no reason it won't work as long as the OS can handle it.
  5. Nimbus has an Import from Evernote function. It is under settings on both the web and Windows client. Also, know that in OneNote, you can import individual Enex files as well as point to notebooks. This is also how Nimbus works. And, Notion has an import tool. Again, I would recommend doing it on a per Notebook basis. This morning, I did testing on Android. I searched for a unique word in one of my notes. From touching the icon to displayed results was 15-20s for EN, Nimbus, OneNote, and Notion. Notion has gotten much better, at least on my device. Nimbus was slightly faster each time, but by a second or two. I'm seeing the same flaky syncing in OneNote that I did when I tested it two years ago, but since I have 1Tb of storage, it will, at the very least, be a backup location.
  6. Best might be a stretch. I am taking a short and long term approach. Short term, just in case, in addition to my normal backup procedures, I have dumped my entire EN catalog into Nimbus, Notion and OneNote. These were all easy to do, ran overnight, and it's there if I need it. Longer term, I am reevaluating my entire workflow. For ten years, I have just dumped everything into Evernote. It was easy and it worked. The problem now is, I have a huge dump, with whichever way you want to take that word. And a lot of those decisions were made ten years ago with ten year old tech. So now, I am doing what I have done in other workflows of mine, photography and project management and segmenting the needs, then deciding what will get each job done best. It's nice to think that one piece of tech will do everything, but 1) you end up pounding a lot of square pegs into round holes, and 2) there isn't much difference in clicking between tabs in one software vs clicking into different software. So, it's still being fleshed out, but my thinking is this. Email will be organized in email. The tools to organize email in most packages is much better than it used to be and searching there is just as efficient as anywhere else. Web clipping will be done by Pocket or Notion depending on the intended use. Anything that would benefit from a graphical UI and/or a database will go into Notion. Notion will also be a hub so I can reference what is in other places. Document storage and retrieval, most likely OneNote. Only because I'm already paying for 1Tb of storage there. The interface will get some getting used to, but it works. During this process, Evernote will get pared down to bare bones, flushing out all the *****. So, if they do turn it around, I will have a good, new starting point to build the future.
  7. I agree that due to the nature of Evernote, our diligence at backups and the local nature of the storage means we can wait and be fine. But I've used the other guys enough to know I can be happy with any of them just as well and would rather not wait. I've been working on my transition since I first saw the beta. If that was the result of two years work, I had zero confidence. I don't want to wait until I'm floating on a piece of wood with Kate Winslett... or DTLow
  8. Until it doesn't. When/if they change the sync engine the legacy app is dead in the water.
  9. This is the result of two years worth of work and a very long closed beta, followed by a very short open beta. This? I'm not sure I see them coming back from this. One thing that prevented me from moving on last year was my heavy use of the import folder. Well, that's gone.
  10. I could probably be happy with the legacy version indefinitely, but to me it raises several problems. If we thought development was stagnant, this means it is now at a complete standstill. Based on the amount of time that has gone into v10, the length of the closed and open Beta, and the amount of feedback they received, and the final release, I don't have much faith that v10 will improve much or soon, so indefinitely is truly indefinitely. They could, at any time, change the syncing so that it no longer functions with the legacy apps. I don't think disappointed is quite strong enough.
  11. You are correct sir. I just noticed that this isn't happening any more. Glad it was me and not the software.
  12. Is this new? Of course, we've always been able to scroll the left panel, but the last few days, if my mouse pointer is parked at the top or bottom anywhere on the screen, the panel scrolls by itself. It's kind of annoying. I haven't noticed this before. If I'm not clear, here are the steps. I click on a note in the left panel, then move the mouse pointer out of the way to read the note. This usually means I move it to the top or bottom of the screen. Now, while i am trying to read the note, the left panel, which has a lot of nested notebooks, scrolls slowly all the way to the top or bottom.
  13. I hate to ask such a basic question, but I haven't needed to contact support in years. Searching for support here didn't help. I need to contact Premium support. If I go to my account page and click on contact support, it logs me out and takes me to a generic help page asking me to log in. If I log in, it just takes me to the web version of my account. Then the cycle repeats. I never get to any sort of contact page and I can't find an email address.
  14. Most of my notebooks are missing. I read the sticky on this, but honestly, I have a hard time being a beta tester on something that broken. Fyi, I am using an 'approved' browser; the latest version of Chrome. I'll check back in a day or two.
  15. I revisit my dashboard occasionally and add new links and content. One thing that would be nice is to have links to folders similar to notes. I know I can create a shareable link and embed that which would take me to the web version, but I would prefer it be internal to the Windows or Anderoid app, like Note links. My workaround is to have an empty note in these folders and create an internal link to that note. Not very elegant, but it works.
  16. I have always switched between article and simplified article depending on how much ***** was on the screen. At some point, article began selecting a 'clip' which seems to be some arbitrary section of the page. If I don't pay attention, I may end up with a tiny sliver of the article. Is this an option somewhere? I couldn't find it. I've started using full page instead.
  17. OK, well I'm an idiot. The solution was to simply put today's schedule at the top of the same note instead of separate notes per day. So the Today link works and today pops up. Also, much easier to scroll down to see previous days. I can create a new one weekly or monthly depending on how often I reference past days Thanks for the inspiration, all
  18. That makes sense; I'd love to see some screenshots. I'm probably overthinking the daily schedule thing as I use another app for task tracking.
  19. Sorry, Windows; I always start in the Windows forum, but forget when I wander about. I have access, but having retired from 30 years of databases and programming, it's not something I do if I can help it.
  20. OK, thanks. Another question about links. Is this possible, or can you think of a workaround. I want a notebook with daily schedules. Each note labeled with the date except the current day's which is titled Today. On my dashboard, I want a link to Today's schedule, but I don't want to have to rebuild that link every day. Anyway to build something like that? Thanks
  21. Good tip on the manual bullet characters. I was trying to do the same thing for the same reason. I was surprised when a bullet wasted so much space. My link tables also take up too much space. RCoonceTX how do you keep the cells that small. I can move horizontally, but the vertical spacing seems to be locked.
  22. I did an Enex backup this morning without knowing about this or paying attention. It split my 11K note 5+Gb file into 5 ~1Gb files. Never had a problem with the large files, so not sure I care, but I've never done a recovery from them either.
  23. I think if you ask him a fifth time, he will finally succumb to your superior debate skills and give you what you seek. OTH, he may not give a $#!+
