  1. Or try a 3rd party screen capture program. Nimbus has a very good free one, but I currently use Greenshot
  2. I wish you could resize the widgets, otherwise, I'm happy with Home. Wish Calendar was a two way sync. I'm in EN much more than calendar, but I'm getting used to it. Need recurring tasks, but for recurring or long term tasks, I like having them on my Home page. I still have Legacy and use it for backups or anytime I need to work on a of notes at once. Not just over 50. v10 takes seconds per note for any type of batch process. But in the long run, that's not a foot out the door. If I left Evernote it wouldn't be for a different version. For my Windows/Android environment, Nimbus, Notion and Google Drive are all viable alternatives.
  3. Okay, so for the 47th time over the last 12 years, I'm back looking to go all in. Well, not all in. One foot is still firmly on the other side of the door, and multiple full and partial backups and redundancies are being maintained, but... I'm starting to like what I see. I had built a dashboard a few years back that I liked, but the Home page has taken it's place. Also, dipping my toes in the waters of tasks. Between Home, Tasks and Calendars, I could see this becoming the One App. There' still a lot to be done, but I think it may be heading in the right direction. I just have to remember that a runaway train might be heading in the right direction, too. Doesn't mean I want to be on it. Now, you guys (you know who you are) make up some popcorn and pull up a chair.
  4. Okay, this happened again. Suddenly, I have 150 notes in my input directory. Again, this happened after starting EN on the second machine. Both machines have the Input Folder set to the same place. Both Input Folders are empty. On both machines all 150 notes exist in a different notebook and many of them are very old. I moved a few of these notes earlier today, but those moves are reflected correctly on both machines. The bulk haven't been touched on any device in months. I have no idea where it is pulling these from. And again, I still had Legacy so deleting them took 3 seconds instead of 10 minutes.
  5. It works for me, but the dimensions given don't work. If I select one of the default images, I get the entire thing on screen. If I upload my own in the specified 2000x1280 resolution, I only get the middle third top to bottom and about 60% left to right. Tried various sizes and resolutions and can't get an image to fit 100%
  6. I'm sorry, I had to redact that. Unless you give me a dollar.
  7. The only Home/Widget thing we can't do is have multiple scratch pads and some advanced configs that we didn't have before. I could see the value if I was going to use Home, but I'm not all in yet. They have done a poor job of communicating, for those that might want to upgrade. Every time I click on a Pro feature, it says I can upgrade for $8.33 a month. I already have a Premium (Personal) account through next April, so I have no idea what that means. I understand that's the yearly rate, but if that's the charge, then what happens to the money they already have? I think their marketing crew needs to invest in some external research. Maybe run ideas past some senior members of this forum.
  8. I'm not sure most of the people complaining understand what a Boolean search is. I have over 12K notes, and don't use tags. I have rarely needed more than one search term to find anything, but two or three always work. IMO, if you need that complicated a search with nested ANDs and ORs, you need better structure, tags, or both. We have never had Boolean searches. I think EN screwed the pooch on pretty much everything for the last year from a marketing and communication standpoint. But I have the feeling if they announced that only Professional level can use the phrase "Brussel Sprouts" in a note, there would be an uproar. The only thing in Pro I would like is exporting as PDF. If I decide I need it, I'll see if I can rearrange my portfolio and scrape together the extra $24 a year.
  9. I just tried a search with cat and dog and it's asking me to upgrade. Then I did a second search with lower case and it worked. Switch back to upper case and it wants an upgrade.
  10. I don't have that in my billing history, but I do have this, which I will be implementing so I don't forget.
  11. Me either, for all the reasons you already know. I will keep the free tier, no reason to shoot myself in the foot, and worst case, it gives me another backup of archival data. I know you have Apple options. For me, it's Nimbus and/or Notion, plus Google Drive. I may look at some sort of hybrid solution.
  12. For years, a decade or more for some of us, we have been "Premium" subscribers. We paid to be in the top tier. New features were far and in between, but when they came out we got them because we were Premium. If they had added tasks or calendars back then, we would have got it because we were Premium. If we wanted to export a notebook as a PDF, we chose the HTML version which equated to the same thing. We could do everything the product was capable of. Because we were the top tier. If you wanted something less, but more than free, you got the Plus plan, which apparently some still are on. Now, that is us. Now, we are no longer top tier, we are the one that is better than free. We are Plus. As my COBOL professor said, they changed the name to protect the guilty and confuse the innocent. They couldn't call it Premium anymore, even if they are charging the same rate, because it is no longer premium, it is personal, it is plus, it is the one that is better than free. There is a new top tier and we ain't it. They said they wouldn't raise our rates, but in reality, they did. The rate for Professional is a raising of the rates for the top tier, they downgraded us and are charging the same for it.
  13. Agree. We've been the top tier for years and now we are the equivalent of Plus. They're not calling it a downgrade, but that's what it is.
  14. I logged out and back in. Says I'm now Personal instead of Premium. Want's me to 'upgrade' to see my tasks and no sign of a calendar. Do they test anything? Ever?
  15. Just went through all the emails, links and screens, and am thoroughly confused. First, in the nothing will change category, my membership now says Personal, but my renewal, next year, is listed at the old Premium rate, which is the annual fee for Personal. My plan, if it is Personal comes with a link to Google Calendar, but the link said click here for a free trial. (I didn't). Premium is no longer listed as an option, but it is apparently between Free and Personal per the original link. I guess I have until next April to figure this out. As long as Legacy continues, I'm good since the backup and export options of the current version is useless. I am assuming that Personal is the new and improved Premium, but that wasn't made very clear. I guess they couldn't keep calling it "Premium" if it is now a lower tier. Professional didn't offer much I care about except exporting notebooks as PDFs. And that only has value if the current export continues to be crippled. Meanwhile, I continue to support a fully updated and workable backup of everything in Nimbus, plus various parts spread through Notion, OneNote, and Google Docs. Having an exit strategy is one thing, but having to spend years with one foot out the door is getting to be cumbersome.
  16. Before v10 was through deleting the first 50 files, I installed Legacy and deleted all 183. Wonder how long it will take v10 to figure out they aren't there any more.
  17. Ok, I think I've figure this out. I'm thinking even though I didn't set up the import folder on the new machine, Evernote knew where it was supposed to be. But the flag that says, yeah I got this was missing from the new machine, so it was bringing things in again. After I set up the import folder on the new machine, all 183 of those notes got imported quickly. And I recognized the first dozen as the ones from earlier. So, maybe the cloud version of EN was having a conflict with the local machine(s) and that was why the earlier notes were screwed up. Of course, deleting those 183 files isn't as simple as it used to be because I can only select 50 at a time and it takes about 7 seconds to delete each file. So, yeah, I guess I'm installing Legacy
  18. No, but I'm glad you asked. I never set up the import folder on the new computer, which explains the second part. So, the only import folder is the one that has been on the old machine for years. At this point, no further files have come across. I'm going to crank EN back up on machine 1 to see if it starts again. So far, no harm done, but another reason not to trust the system yet. Edit: Actually, I forgot that I uninstalled v10 from the old machine after this happened, so I think I'll leave (hopefully) well enough alone. Still have Legacy on the old machine if I need to access something over there. So far, I haven't installed Legacy on this one, which may be overly optimistic.
  19. Transitioning to a new laptop and have EN10 running on both. Everything had synced up and things were normal(ish). I was doing something else on the old laptop when I saw the notification pop up, Imported 19 new notes. Checked the import folder to make sure I hadn't somehow moved over some new files. No, everything as how I left it the day before. So, I brought up Evernote and checked my default notebook. 19 notes. Mostly recent stuff, but some months old. For the most part, the titles only. Where there was a body to the note, it wasn't the body that went with the title. Shut down EN on the old machine just in case. Worked on something else and just checked EN. The list has grown to 40 notes. Copied a few files to my import folder and so far, nothing has happened. As far as I can tell, this is somehow happening in the cloud rather than locally. 10.17.6 I'll be a way for an hour or so. Interested to see what I find when I get back.
  20. How many times in your life have you heard, "relax, nothing is going to change?" What usually happened next?
  21. Just took a picture of something on the phone so I could blow it up on the laptop and take a close look. I do that a lot. Took the photo note an hour ago. Still don't have it on desktop. Please bring back manual sync.
  22. 5s on my mid-level Moto. But sometimes it's much worse and I have no idea the difference. Or, I forget what I am dealing with an update the software. Then, I'm looking at 20 minutes of being useless. And updates come often.
  23. I really did. I tried my best to like v10. I said I would be back when they got the import folder. The did, so I did. And I tried. But I can't work like this. Everything I've tried to do in Evernote today has produced an error. And the one that says "Note failed to update" is the final straw. Any keystroke and you get the error. Plus there is the Failed to move note error. It looks like the programmers are spending more time creating error messages than fixing bugs. So, I'm back on Legacy. And when/if that stops working and V10 continues to be rubbish, I'll head somewhere else. There are far too many competitors out there to put up with this.
  24. Now, when moving a note, I'm getting a Failed To Move Note to Notebook error, even though it clearly moves the note to the proper notebook.
