  1. Good distinction -- I typically have one note per task because reminders work well with that usage, so I often forget that many-tasks-per-note case. But within a note, you can move todo items up and down at your leisure, so it would seem that that case is covered for @JW9 as well, since they explicitly mention sorting tasks manually.
  2. In the Windows client, you can add a reminder to a note, and in several of the note views (Snippet, Thumbnail, Card), a separate reminder list will appear at the top of the note view. The reminder list can be sorted manually. Open up the reminder list, click on the settings button at the top right, and uncheck the "Sort reminders by date" item. You can then drag reminders up and down the list. Evernote does things that Google Keep does not. *shrug*
  3. Uh, people -- the original request is for the Android application, and that's appropriate because this is an Android forum. Mac Os folks should post in a Mac-specific forum...
  4. The reason that there are unique stack names is only because (at least in the current Evernote world), a stack only exists as just a name attached to a notebook, so a stack is really just the set of notebooks that use a particular name. It's not a restriction at all; it's how stacks are defined. The rule for notebook names is: "A sequence of characters representing the name of the notebook. May be changed by clients, but the account may not contain two notebooks with names that are equal via a case-insensitive comparison. Can't begin or end with a space", and that applies in the back end, and that qualifies at a true restriction. See http://dev.evernote.com/doc/reference/Types.html#Struct_Notebook One way to handle your case might be to use "Work" and "Personal" tags to distinguish between your work and personal notes. Another is to do what I do: keep separate work and personal accounts (one is free, and one is premium) and share notebooks across as needed. You can have duplicate notebook names (e.g. "Projects") in that case, however, if that happens, search for all notes in notebook "Project" will return only notes for one of the "Project" notebook (probably the one in the local account, though I haven't tested that thoroughly), at least in the Evernote Windows client.
  5. If you have specific issues with the web client, then you should post them in the Evernote Web Feature Request subforum here: https://discussion.evernote.com/forum/234-evernote-web-client/
  6. The tool to create code blocks in the Evernote Windows client is in the note editor panel: You can also use the Ctrl+Shift+L to create a new code block (either by itself, or around selected text)
  7. This sounds like it's a Chrome thing. It's be nice to know what that really means under the hood. If you're on Windows or Mac, you can always copy/paste into a note in the respective native client.
  8. Hmm, no 'Evernote6' or 'EvernotePath' entry in my registry. Evidently Evernote works via PFM on my computer... If it were me, I'd still probably use two separate installations/databases, just in case I forgot and did a fast switch. Of course, another alternative would be just to use the Evernote web application for your Admin case, which is fine for light usage, though not as fully features as the native Evernote app.
  9. The option is at Tools / Options / General / [Evernote local files] / Change... I don't think that this will help here, though. This is used to safely move the Evernote database to a new location, rather than pointing Evernote to an existing database.
  10. Clear? Yes. Correct? No. Correct answer: yes, Evernote supports a password on the Windows client (Mac too, evidently). If you sign out of your Evernote account on Windows (File / Sign out <youremailaddress.com>), you'll need to enter your password to use it again.
  11. I tried to install Bear on my Windows computer. Um...
  12. As part of the discussion(s) on recent web clipping problems, it looks like some recent Chromium changes caused problems with the web clipper. By and large that's fixed (I've been clipping successfully for several days) but I got the impression that some of the changes were not easily worked around, so maybe that's the cause of what you're seeing. Look for posts by Evernote employee @Shane D. in this thread for more info. Another possibility is that maybe your sample web site has changed its format so that it no longer works the same -- you could test that by clipping the page that worked for you in the past, and comparing it to the one that works now.
  13. You should read around the forum for more information given out about Spaces by various Evernote employees who've been posting: @rezecib and @Leo Gong. Spaces are evolving, and if they go the way that it's implied, they will be a lot more cosmetic, certainly a lot more cosmetic and integrated than Stacks.
  14. Yes. No. Sometimes. OK, the way I read it is that Evernote is trying to expand its business offering because that's a hot and potentially lucrative market for them and others (Slack, Dropbox, Google, etc., etc.). Information sharing is a natural need to the business case, and less so (but not non-existence for the non-business case (also remember that you can use the personal versions in business). So there's valid impetus for Evernote to improve their note sharing capabilities, and that's what Spaces is for, primarily, but they're also telling us that they offer Spaces for the personal editions as well. At the same time there are core elements, like the note editor, that's part of all Evernote clients, and that also needs improvement, whether it's fixing bugs or adding new functionality. And there's valid impetus for that as well. So with a finite amount of development resources at hand, you tend to get advances in both areas in the same time frames. Of course, as it's continued to improve as long as I've been using Evernote. But right now, it appears that getting Spaces solidified is the big push for the moment.
  15. They have apparently fixed the problem of the clip failing altogether. There may still be sites out there that give the clipper problems with respect to formatting, and that's been the case for a long time.
  16. A spreadsheet user might dispute this a little.. Wow, dredged that one up out of the dust of history, eh? Thanks for the memory!
  17. Curiously, calculations, even statistical stuff is not that hard. It's getting hold of the operands in a persistable way. But if you can solve the latter, the former is easy...

  19. Doesn't seem to be such a big deal to me, on the Windows client. I installed the latest beta, got the advert, closed it. Shut down Evernote, and restarted it, and didn't see the advert again. So long as it doesn't keep coming back it's no big deal. Most Evernote users don't use the forum or read the blog posts, I'd guess, and maybe don't pay attention to the emails, but everyone (except maybe the NixNoters of the world and their rogue ilk /s) uses the client, so that's how they ensure the new Spaces feature is noticed. That being said, I don't need a business account (and it's not clear what the implications are of using the trial and then reverting back to a personal account are), and the new Spaces feature doesn't seem fully baked enough for me to want to play around with it right now. It does seem like a nice advance, and I'm looking forward to it coming to the personal clients, but I'm not in that big a hurry... Maybe, but judging from some recent GlassDoor reviews, it may be more than just the marketing folks...
  20. As of Feb 26, not yet. See https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/95873-pin-a-note-to-top-of-notebook/?do=findComment&comment=495867. It's the last bit of a longish post.
  21. Why would this be a setting? People who don't want nested notebooks (me, for one) just wouldn't nest them. Is there a Windows/Mac/Linux setting that limits the depth of your file system? This would just be wasted & confusing UI.
  22. I'm not sure specifically what you're asking for, but see the following: https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/111932-en-possibly-overwriting-note-content-with-content-from-another-note/?tab=comments#comment-497123
  23. Do please read the whole topic to see why this is not working in new releases, specifically the post here:
  24. I specifically tested this for finding text inside of pictures, but I had a bad example: by virtue of the HTML formatting, there was actual text overlaying an image (the text looked like it was part of the image, but really wasn't), and so Ctrl+F / Next/Previous would step through occurrences of the text. I found a different note with actual recognition text, and you cannut use Ctrl+F to find that text. My mistake, and sorry for the misunderstanding.
  25. As far as I know, there's no Thunderbird support from Evernote, but a web search on "Thunderbird save to Evernote" turned up the following: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/enforward/ I've never used it, and have no idea how well (or if) it works.
