  1. I was about to ask about the ability to simply shorten or edit the characters of my existing shortcuts, but I'm pretty sure that's not possible, and in any case, I like this idea better. +1 Vote from me
  2. Not in the text, not in the note contents...so must be the source-url metadata. I have my toolbar customised to display the 'i' info icon. and when a note has a URL it is also displayed on the toolbar.
  3. I accidentally copy-pasted a sentence of text (copied from a webpage) into an existing note, a note that did NOT already have a URL associated to it. I noticed that when pasting this text, EN also automatically pasted the URL from the source web-page it was copied from. When I undid the paste, with CTRL+Z, the pasted text was removed, but not the inserted URL, resulting in me having to remove it manually. 50% of the time this wouldn't be an issue as half my notes do already have an associated URL reflecting the clipped source, but for other notes, where they might be a repository of info from multiple sources then I would want a way to stop EN auto inserting the source URL from where i copied text. Is there a config/option, or way, to stop EN automatically adding a URL when copy-pasting text from webpages? cheers
  4. So you're saying, that you should be able to find something, right? When I searched the URL you provided, and also the clipped note I made, and searched (CTRL+F) for 'asila', it returned zero results. Because there's nothing on the URL-page that has 'asila' in it. If you change the last character in the search query asila, the 'a' to an 'o' as in 'asilo' for 'Asilomar' then you will find 3 results straight away, hence why i thought you made a typo. What do you believe is on the page, that should be found when entering 'asila'??? EDIT* and it was the same searching 'asila' in All Notes - nothing was returned...which i think is your issue, that EN is returning a result that it shouldn't
  5. Any posts on the forum that are related to EN search, get my attention, as I would love to rely on and use EN search more than my current 5% of the time. So, I took a look at the page/URL you added, and also clipped it, and all but one of the images has any text captured on the image, and that one image, contains the word 'Asilomar'. So if you search the Page URL for the partial-word "asila' or ""aslia' it too returns no results...same as for your EN Note! IF you use "asilo" in your Note Search or via 'All Notes', it will indeed return just this one note. I think your error was a typo in your search query...so this time I reluctantly think the winner is EN
  6. Try going to 'Task Manager' and closing/exiting out of all Evernote Processes, then restart the app...might work. Also what did you use to pixelate your image? cheers
  7. I noticed my character recognition/search-in-image was not working the other day also, but rarely use it so let it slide. But now when i quickly checked an old note (over 1 year old) it says '1 image has not been indexed'! How do you fix this??? cheers -update- so far, and after checking 6 notes, all but one say images not indexed. The other saying all images indexed.
  8. I've just started using reminders with EN-for-Windows app. I've noticed when setting a reminder the time appears to be different with each note, perhaps a reflection of when the note was created/timestamped etc. Is there some configuration setting/option so that every time I go to add a reminder it defaults to a Time of 9.00.00 AM?
  9. Only! This is one of my big reasons why I have NOT moved to a Tag-Centric note organising system. Would love to follow EN' tag-filing logic, but until they sort out the inconsistencies across platforms, I resolve the duplication issue using in-app-links, and the occasional use of a tag. Strangely, the Tag Interface on EN-Web 'Classic-Old Version' is significantly more user friendly than their New Beta Version - in terms of displaying Tag-Hierarchies, Nested Tag Structures etc. Seems like a big backward step! Especially if Tags are meant to be the primary way one is meant to organise their Notes in EN, as I've read from time to time. And if Tags really were/are meant to be the primary method of organising EN, why aren't Nested Tag Hierarchies evident across all platforms! Because if they were, I for one, would no longer have need for multi level notebooks, but until that time I too would love to see another 1 or 2 levels of Multi-level Notebook Nesting. EN-Windows desktop has an excellent Nested Tag Structure, many levels deep, that would be awesome in place of Multi-level notebooks, but the platform-inconsistencies kill my decision to adopt Tagging seriously. My 'main' reason however, for not moving to a Tag-Centric note organising system, or indeed take advantage of Nested tags in lieu of Multi-Level notebooks, is the Web-Clipper! The Web-Clipper displays a drop-down besides the 'Notebook' field, that allows me to visually and easily navigate and find the notebook I wish to clip to... BUT then there is No/None/Nil/Nada drop-down for the 'Tag' field, to display my Nested Tag Hierarchy, or even a list of all Tags, alphabetised! The latter is pretty obvious given how long the list could get, but again if Tags were meant to be the primary way to do things, and Nested Tags are the solution, then the web-clipper should show the nested tag hierarchy as it does with the Notebook drop-down This is golden. You've really captured the essence of the issue, and the divide amongst users...love this. Even if I were to add multiple tags to a note when clipping with web-clipper, I would still want to find them using a visual nested tag structure offered by way of a clipper drop-down. Even when finding or navigating to existing notes in my EN-desktop client, I still prefer to navigate multi-level notebooks visually, hierarchically. I just find it to be faster and more effective than EN search, that most of the time provides way too many results...and just takes too much time. The ol scroll-wheel and clicks vs many key strokes keying in various search syntax battle... and using search-shortcuts would only work in the beginning IMHO. My Vote, is for at least 1, ideally 2, more levels of Multi-level Notebook Nesting. If that's too hard, then EN please fix up Tag Nesting-Hierarchies across all platforms and I'll switch to that.
  10. Not naming names, but for the love of pizza, can somebody @Ian Small please put this guy on the payroll, or at minimum give him lifetime free subscription
  11. I used all three parameters in the one saved search, and they worked fine. then tried just the first two and still fine, as I had already cleared past marked-done reminders, and still aok
  12. Damn... @John in Michigan USA you just popped my bubble! 😀 lol...Thanks for letting me know. So far, the only notes with reminders set for today, do all appear in the search results, so touch wood, it continues to be accurate and doesn't revert as you say. Would be interesting to see if others corroborate your experience/results??? To be sure, and as I start to use this feature, I will occasionally cross-check against Android. cheers
  13. I was mistaken...we already do get the best of both worlds! Clicking on the 'reminder-search' shortcut does indeed display all the reminders, AND sorts them by Notebook, with the ability to drag & re-order. This is awesome. I also decided that I will change the middle note-list view-options to 'Thumbnail View' when specifically wanting to view/action Reminders, as I like the visual contrast it provides. Plus being able to easily toggle the view option with F5 hotkey is great and much easier than using the cursor and drop-downs. thanks again to all you guru's who give so much. strange I get excited over these small system wins, but they do save time, make things easier etc hence why i fnd myself checking in to see latest threads on a daily basis...cheers
  14. Thanks very much @jefito Yep, this worked exactly as you explained it. I rarely use the EN Notebook search, and noticed that a 'notebook:[notebook name]' search did not work for me. I suspect this is because I use multi-word/character notebook titles that include blank-spaces. The tag search worked and sorted the reminders at top...I did not try manually re-arranging or ordering them. Just trying to think of a use case for this approach...that displays reminders (that can then be sorted) at the top of the note list, but only after a specific search was done. Ideally I would have the ability of sorting as you describe, combined with @DTLow saved search/shortcut approach... now that would be the best of both worlds. Apart from that do either of you, or other Guru's reading this, know why Reminders aren't displayed as explained by EN on their website (see my original post above)??? ***SCRATCH THAT *** It depends on the view configuration - yes it shows in snippet/card view etc *** EN needs to better communicate that
  15. Hey @DTLow Indeed it does. Reminders showed up on snippet view, amongst others, but not my preferred Side-List view, strange they would configure EN like this. Another item to add to EN list of things to make consistent across platforms This is AWEEESOOMMEE. Love it 😍. Then add this saved search as a shortcut, and all today's reminder are within easy one-click reach. Thanks very much ...and so easy. Question - why wouldn't you just clear the reminders once you have actioned the task(s)?
  16. I'm using EN-for Windows 6.18.4.8489 (308489) Public (CE Build ce-62.3.7750) on Win10 Laptop I decided to look into using EN reminders, instead of copy-pasting Tasks into Asana... but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to actually see/display a list of my EN reminders! I tested using them, and am able to set a reminder, and then see a pop up notification when it falls due. And I'm not interested in receiving any email notifications, so I turned that off in the settings/options. According to EN' intro info re reminders on their website, it explains: Reminders appear as a 'to-do list' will be displayed in the notebook where the note lives - but this does not happen for me/my EN install Reminders are pinned to the top of my 'note list' (I assume 'All Notes' list) - but again nothing is pinned at the top of my All Notes note list (or even the notebook where the note lives) even when i change the sorting option to 'sort by reminder' ( i use side list view, and normally sorted by Title) I was also reading lots of ideas re reminders, workarounds etc on an EN feature Request about Pin notes to the top of notebook but ideally would like it to work as EN explained it Does anyone know how to get reminders to work on EN-for-Windows as described on their website (see attached image or link)??? cheers
  17. I'm using a EN-desktop app on Windows 10 laptop... and clip using EN-Web Clipper extension for Chrome I have loads of stacks, 20+, and notebooks, 200+. When using the Clipper, and after selecting 'clipping format', the next clipping field is 'organization'. I click the down-arrow on this field to reveal the search box, and also to show all my stacks/notebooks. Most of the time I already know the notebook I wish to clip to, and just start entering the name in the search field to easily find/select it... but sometimes I scroll through the list, through a long list... so my question is, is there anyway to have this list populate, or be shown as a rolled-up/collapsed Stack view?
  18. I never thought of that...and now trying to think how i might use it. I think the easiest way would be to open the note in EN Web interface, make sure the note is full screen, then use a Chrome extension like Fireshot, my favorite, to capture entire page
  19. Where were you? I needed the above advice years ago πŸ˜‰
  20. In some of my notebooks, I use special characters in a Note-Title - to use as what I call a separator note to provide a visual cue to important notes above. And the characters have always displayed just fine in the 'Note Title Field'! But... as soon as i played with adding @DTLow icons ...πŸ‘πŸ˜©πŸ’•πŸ˜”πŸ˜ŒπŸ˜ΊπŸ™€πŸ±πŸΆπŸπŸ΄πŸ₯¨πŸ₯“πŸ€πŸ„β€β™€οΈ to the same note title... well, all my separator note titles no longer display and instead I get the boxes like you describe! 😞 Not a biggy - but i hope it somehow resolves
  21. Hey @logandb ... I just reconnected to my multi-monitor setup, then via Win10 settings, configured my high-res laptop as the primary main screen. Next I opened EN and made sure the EN app-interface was moved to the laptop display, as I normally have EN set to open on monitor/screen #3 (my laptop is screen #1), and like you as i dragged it across it was blown out displaying huge across all screens, so had to simply maximise the window on the laptop. And then just shut down the laptop. I then logged back on to my PC, opened EN, but it was still unresponsive... so I completely signed out all users, and signed back in, then wolla. I am now able to View Left Panel via F10 shortcut key or via App-Menu options....and I kept toggling F10 many many times and no issue. The only out-of-the-ordinary observation, is that this time round, I was also able to resize the left panel and the centre-panel-note list ( I use side-view)... to any column-widths I liked, well nearly any! The editor window just continually resized to fit, exhibiting behaviour like any responsive website does when you resize a browser window...not sure if that's normal but at least I can view left panel. Plus when I do toggle 'View Left Panel' via F10 or View>Menu...it maintains the last ridiculous column width I set. So now I am able to resize the left panel 80-85% of the screen with the centre note list like 15%, and have the editor window not even display! Weird and strange. But a win because at least now I have more display-flexibility than before...lol. Hope this info may help.
  22. Well, nope, playing with settings did nothing. My last idea is to make my laptop the 'Main Display' before unplugging from the multi-monitors. Because normally one of the other large 32" (1920x1080) monitors acts as the primary or main display. Perhaps this will resolve it.
  23. Weird right? ...and like I said, on mine, it will actually work for a few go's in the beginning of a session, and then just stops, becomes unresponsive. Maybe there's a Win10 setting we need to adjust, or something to toggle on/off again in the Win10 display settings, when we unplug from the multi monitors, that will allow the EN-for-Windows app' Left Panel to view? I will have a play around now, and update you later. Not sure if it matters but is your laptop screen 4K also? cheers
