  1. Hi @Dave-in-Decatur, yeah at the end of the day I simply close EN using the top right 'X' close icon, then shutdown the PC. I just tried a File>Exit, then seconds later re-opened EN, to find the custom color was dropped from my saved custom colors list. Ultimately I just want to add a custom color and have it retained, but given your comments about MS Word then perhaps EN does not allow it... not a biggy. thanks for the info Cheers, that makes sense, a three for the price of one font dialog deal. Would be nice, if the CTRL+D shortcut still allowed me the user the same function, of applying or creating a 'custom' color. But actually the... CTRL+D doesn't allow any use of custom colors...however CTRL+D does allow one to 'apply' one of the existing standard colors! In my experience keyboard shortcuts provide a different path to the same feature/function but in this case the shortcut is limited...easiest fix in my mind is for EN to simply stop displaying the CTRL+D alternate route to access this feature. If you really look at it there is an inconsistency when compared with other icons on the editing toolbar. To 'Bold' Font you can use the icon on the toolbar or CTRL+B... To underline CTRL+U...to Italicise CTRL+I... and all of these are also accessible via CTRL+D as well, however Text Color appears to be the 'black' sheep in the family...lol...again not a biggy, cheers
  2. When using EN-for-Windows, should I wish to change the color of any text, or in my case add a 'custom color' to the palette for later use, I simply go to the Editing Toolbar, and click the icon as pictured below, or use keyboard shortcut of CTRL+D keyboard shortcut. My 1st question/issue: When I create a custom color on the Text Color palette, EN gets rid of it, the next time I open EN, which I notice happens from day to day, rather than closing and immediately reopening. Anybody know how to add a custom color to the Text Color palette on the Editing Toolbar that EN will retain?? My 2nd question: Why when accessing the Text Color editing via keyboard shortcut CTRL+D after first highlighting text I wish to have it's color changed, that... a) The popup dialogue box is so different ....and more seriously b) The custom color, at the bottom of list, weirdly changes to reflect the text I highlighted, rather than display the custom text color I added earlier...very weird! Notice the dark grey color in my custom colors, and by way of example, look at what happens when I try to apply this to some lines of text, but using CTRL+D shortcut (versus accessing text-color feature from editing toolbar)... the first line is green text I want to apply my custom 'grey' to... the 2nd line is red text, that I also wish to apply the custom color to... but it the pop-up box just changes custom color to the text selected color!!! Making CTRL+D shortcut, useless for 'Text color'! ...how could a flaw like that pass through alpha, beta, omega, whatever testing? Screen captures added below. *Note, EN does not actually get rid of the custom color, It just means I must use the editing toolbar to get to it
  3. Thanks...yep that worked for me on v6.18... little things hey.
  4. I just tried that out of curiosity but that did not work for me, I'm on EN Windows v6.18 Go to Top Main Menu: Click Tools> Customise Tool Bar Then drag the highlighted icon as pictured below (ignore my customised shortcuts see top right) You can also use keyboard shortcut: Press & Hold: CTRL + Left/Right Arrow Keys ...to go back forward pages at any time
  5. Cheers @Narnk ...I read the link and 1st activated or made sure the touch keyboard for my Win10 PC was displayed on the taskbar, but no 'Mic' Icon was given at top left on the touch keyboard. I played with all settings I could see, but nothing. The link you provided does say "when using PC in Tablet Mode" perhaps that's the issue, as I'm using my PC/laptop in regular PC mode. If you have a sec and know the issue, would be great to hear from you, cheers again
  6. This question piqued my curiosity... and so I found a workaround for you @RedEyedRocker Create a Note in either EN Windows or EN Web... this note will serve as your Template 'Colour Palette' note when using EN Windows. Create 6 lines of text, or just use characters e.g ellipses for each line ".... ..... ....." etc for each of the 6 available colours Format the backgrounds of each line text with each of the 6 colours (edit note in EN-Web) Return to EN Windows > Double click your Template Colour Palette Note, so it opens in a new window Now when you create new notes, you simply copy/paste a line of text/background colour required from your 'colour-palette' note window to the new note and edit text as necessary Example Images attached... shows the note in EN-Web v EN-Windows
  7. Many Thanks... Think I will trial this with my wife or son's free account on their PC and see what happens. Else, if one was to do this and then later wanted to reverse it, I imagine it would not be an easy process? Not like EN has a restore point or anything! cheers
  8. does 'specific' mean All/Any of font changes: SIZE - COLOUR - TYPE
  9. I have set my Note default font type-size to Tahoma 12. The last time I changed/updated this, which was quite a while ago, I think I recall that making the change had the effect of changing the font size to not only any new note I would create, but also changed the font size to ALL pre-existing notes, which especially affected the layout of text I had formatted to my liking, inside of tables. I'd like to go ahead and change my default font size to 14... but am having quite a lot of anxiety about it, as I have many template notes (not setup as actual EN Templates) that include lots of tables with font size layouts etc, that are just the way I like it... I fear changing the default font-size will throw everything out, and most concerningly in my tables Am I correct...will EN change font size, esp in tables, in my pre-existing notes ? IF yes, is there any way to tell EN to apply the NEW default font-size to ONLY new future notes created from this point in time?
  10. I loved watching the TV re-runs of the Three Stooges when growing up in the 70's/80's. And great to see @CalS & @gazumped have used them in their profile pics. So please, c'mon guys @DTLow, @jefito, @Dave-in-Decatur somebody pickup the last character... and for the record everyone knows Curly (not accounted for yet, pictured centre in attached image) was the most popular 😉
  11. Anyway to fix EN-Windows always showing a spelling error when placing a Unit of Measurement Abbreviation immediately after, so no space, after the numeric value: EXAMPLE 100kg triggers red squiggly line/spelling error so must use a space, and enter it as 100 kg 120km etc... 237lbs .... Sort of pointless adding each to the EN dictionary as the numeric value can be anything. So anybody know how to Fix or tell EN to avoid these??? cheers
  12. Hi @Narnk Thanks for the heads up re Dragon... I think the last time I actually bought/used Dragon was 2011 and I was impressed back then. I read that thread you referred to, the other day. Dragon would be the ideal solution (if it's as good/easy as they promise), but in my case $300 USD (wow these guys worked inflation to their advantage since my last purchase) more like $360 AUD for me, combined with having to train it, combined with the apparent existing integration issues in EN, means I will be sticking with the solution mentioned above, and for now it does the job. Otherwise and outside of transcribing my education courses, or composing long form emails here and there, I mostly rely and enjoy smashing away at my keyboard. But at some time soon, think I will need to once again re-visit the value-proposition of controlling apps and data entry via voice... they just need to make it easy and reliable....cheers again
  13. Today I once again revisited this issue (or indeed feature request), of not being able to speech-to-text dictate into a Note when using EN Windows. I'm currently in the midst of going through this educational video course, for which no transcription exists... and so I'd like to dictate key contents of it, into my study notes. I prefer working at my desk with PC and multi monitor setup... rather than pulling out an iPad or Android Smart Phone just to be able to dictate text into a note (a solution I found previously). And until now I have not been able to get MS speech-to-text working in EN, and so I have continued to rely on other dictation websites such as SPEECHNOTES or DICTATION. But like I mentioned before those sites still require me to copy-paste the resulting text into the EN Note... so time wasted doing that. So I started looking for a Chrome extension that lets me dictate text anywhere on any webpage, thinking I could use it with EN-Web open, instead of EN-Windows. And I found the Chrome Extension Speech Recognition Anywhere ...and it works perfectly with EN-Web. I just open EN-Web, and then open Speech Recognition Anywhere in another Chrome browser tab... and immediately start dictating text into any note (or other website). And the accuracy is awesome. I'm using a free 30 day trial of this extension, but am confident I will pay the one-time lifetime fee of $45 AUD when the trial finishes... hope this helps someone.
  14. God, even hitting the submit button still converted the 8 follwed by a closing bracket to be converted to the emoji
  15. Yep, that also worked for me, thanks. This minor issue just came up for the 1st time for me as well, and it was an unwelcome distraction. My 1st solution, and another way to tackle this, was to: 1st copy/paste my text, seen here inside quotes '😎' which translates😎 to MS Notepad, then copy/paste back to EN. I even struggled to stop this Auto Emoji behaviour here on this forum webpage! I was creating 'non-sequential' numbered list and well the 😎 proved a hard nut to crack
  16. DITTO...That's been my experience also. Prior to upgrading my laptop a couple of years ago I would quite frequently clean stuff up, via Hold 'CTRL' key dwn then click help from menu, then Optimize Database etc, which would work but only for a couple of weeks. When searching EN Windows Forums on 'Performance' @Titus I found the 6th search result "Looking for Evernote documentation: Diagnosing and fixing Evernote performance problems?" to be useful
  17. Assuming these 'copied' notes live in the same Notebook, think about using 'Copy Note' instead. Then the copied note will no longer be appended with the word 'copy' in its title. Re dozens or hundreds of copies possibly required... once you have 2, 4, 6 copies of the note simply keep selecting all of them then copy...so 2 becomes 4, 4 become 8 etc... not sure that helps
  18. I have had this happen a few times in the past and have documented the process to fix, based on EN Support feedback and from other users on this forum...here's a copy. Sometimes the issue might just be that EN Servers are down for maintenance. If Not, You Need to Identify Your Unsynced Notes so you can fix them. So, If seeing "!" on your end, use these methods/steps to reveal any unsynced notes: FIND UNSYNCED NOTES - METHOD 1 Click 'All Notes' from Left Panel Press/Hold the CTRL key & Then Click on the Sync icon from the Toolbar menu. This should display the notes that are the issue. You can then modify/work with them to get them to sync. FIND UNSYNCED NOTES - METHOD 2 Select the Note List View Icon and select Top List or Side List At the top of the note list, Select the Sort Icon > Sort notes by > Sync Unsynced notes will be listed with a dot displayed in the Sync column FIX IDENTIFIED NOTES - METHOD After that you're able to see the unsynced notes, please follow the steps below. Copy and paste the content out of the referenced note into a new note Delete the referenced note Go to your 'Trash' notebook at the bottom of your notebooks list and delete the note from there so it's entirely removed from your account Sync Evernote Attachments: Unsynced - 1.png | Unsynced - 2.png
  19. @CalS You probably already know about this, but FYI, I accidentally discovered a keyboard shortcut (in addition to mouse one click action) to access Toolbar shortcuts. Simply hit CTRL key plus a number/digit, so... CTRL+1 (to open 1st shortcut), CTRL+2 (to open 2nd shortcut) etc... But with 15, or in my case 17 shortcuts, would prob need to add a number label/prefix to the toolbar shortcut to make using the keyboard shortcuts easy (that was a mouthful). As it is, I only use a few keyboard shortcuts currently for 'New Note', 'On demand Sync' etc...cheers
  20. Hi @Pixelpops I had the same issue last year, and discovered the solution...see thread here
  21. Yep that did the trick, thanks very much. Whilst waiting for your reply i also tried shortening my full name online via profile settings, which partially did the trick. I'm liking the extra room now provided in the toolbar that allows for more shortcuts...cheers
  22. Hey @CalS How is it the 'User' drop-down on the menu bar doesn't also show your name, how do you make that happen? Mine currently shows my Full Name to the right of the user-icon.
  23. In the above screen-shot example, you can see I have a couple of links in the first paragraph, then lots of links/linked-text, one after the other on the next four lines. If you highlight all the text as shown, then right-click, there is NO option to 'remove' the links. If you highlight just the 4 lines that contain consecutive links, then right-click, now the 'remove' option yes is available, but EN will literally only remove the link on the text immediately below the cursor. So if you wanted to remove all links, You would have to remove one-by-one, or copy paste into another app like MS-Word, or Notepad, in order to remove the links then paste back Yeah that works great in MS Word... was hoping could be done in EN. Cheers anyway Well not a biggy, as I only need it from time to time, thanks
