  1. I'm using the latest version of: EN-for-Windows 6.25.1, Google Chrome 85.0.4183.102 (Official Build) (64-bit), and EN Web Clipper for Chrome 7.13.1. I just tested doing 3 types of webpage clippings: -ARTICLE, -SIMPLIFIED ARTICLE, & FULL PAGE... on a random website and the EN-Clipper, or resulting EN-Notes allowed me to annotate images in all 3 clip-types successfully. Maybe it's something else on your system/setup, or mine, that results in the EN-behaviour you're experiencing.
  2. Thanks @CalS very helpful. You say nothing is 'stored there'... however I did have large MP4 video files still existing there, and from over 6 months ago. However clearing the content of the whole attachments folder did not affect anything in my EN... so that's great, plus benefit of removing about a GB of files off my Hard drive As for a newly created MS-Word doc I just then added to new note, to test/see what would happen, if it would appear in the PC EN Db Attachment folder...well yes it did, however the file type used by EN to refer to it was called a 'BACKUP File' ...not too mention .mp3 and .pdf file types also shown as 'BACKUP File' types... so yep clearing the folder appeared to do nothing, so thanks for that tip.
  3. To be clear, we/I am talking about using EN-for-Windows exclusively, and moving/attaching recently created MS-Word docs inside an EN-Note, from which all future views/edits etc would be done in EN. So after the initial MS Word Doc is attached/copied to an EN Note, one would then delete it from their PC, as I now do. This way the MS Word Doc would simply become part of the EN database like any other attached video/image/audio/document etc we add to an EN Note. Sounds like you're referring to the actual 'attachments' EN database folder located on your PC. I have never used this folder to store any files, MS Word docs or otherwise. In any case the location path on my PC is: C:\Users\<user>\Evernote\Databases\Attachments And also, my attachments folder also has a tiny fraction of the actual file/video/image attachemtns added across my thousands of EN Notes... I don't know the why or how... I'm on EN-for-Windows v6.25.1 and the keyboard shortcut combination can be modified via either the tray icon or EN-windows app via Menu> Tools> Options> Shortcut Keys from where you can reconfigure the keyboard combination to to what you want. Apparently this is the default, as Gazumped also showed above.
  4. Agreed...hence why I removed her in the 1st place. But sometimes, and rather than going to her PC, I will get in to her account and organise/structure her Stacks/Notebooks until she figures out what works best for her. Apart from that I like the back-up benefits of having both our databases live on both PC's. Then our PC's backup to MS OneDrive, which left me with wondering whether I need EN Bckupery app subscription...cheers
  5. Thanks @gazumped the only thing that changed between then and now, is that I finally took the plunge and updated EN from v6.18 to 6.25. After the 1st time Her EN database/user should at least be added to my Program Files/EN database, right...I will check. As since then and when 'add user' adding her again, it doesn't look like her whole database is downloaded again to my PC, though the sync takes longer than it should for her small number of notes. Maybe it's got something with sharing notebooks between us, her to me, me-to-her...who knows, anyone? **EDIT I just checked the database folder @ C:\Users\<user>\Evernote\Databases) and her Db files are there, BUT, all with today's date. As I just now added her again, which involved simply signing her in. Does this mean her whole db files were re-downloaded again -or- the date changes due to syncing? Also before signing out all users from EN, I tried just closing and opening EN resulting in both users still being displayed. So it only happens when 'signing out all users'...thx
  6. Until setting my wife up recently with her own PC and EN 'Basic' Account... I had her added as a User on my EN-for-Windows v6.25.1 desktop In the recent past The Menu > File drop-down list, displayed both account names/emails, all the time, and I only had to switch between. I removed her off my desktop a few weeks back given she has her own setup now, but once again added her back on my EN-desktop the other day, however now her account name fails to remain...it continues to just show one account, meaning I need to her add her every time, and then when selecting her account EN opens a new window. My question is what happened to both accounts being present/displayed all the time? Will I need to 'Add' her account all the time? cheers
  7. Hi... I've never used this before so thought I would try it out. Observations: 1- When I simply click the 'white EN Elephant icon' in the system tray, as mine too is displayed there, as Gazumped said, all it does is open EN (if not already open else it does nothing). 2- In order to copy 'Text & URL' into a note, I had to use default keyboard shortcut path: CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+A ...as clicking the white elephant icon (if EN Open) did nothing!? 3- When using the keyboard shortcut for selected Text of a MS-Word doc, the link pasted to the Note does indeed open the MS word doc immediately... I love this. better than the way I use to manually copy and paste the file path location to EN 4- The new Note is created within the 'Notebook' I am currently working in, Not my default notebook...interesting Questions: 1- Out of curiosity @Archimedes... after you initially create and save a MS-Word Doc, why wouldn't you just attach/move the whole MS Word file into an EN Note, and dispense with even needing to copy text/url??? I think the MS Word doc is your central source-of-truth file from which pieces of info are copied to multiple/separate EN Notes, in which case I would have thought an EN TOC Note, would better serve your needs, esp if wanting to use when working remotely from different devices. Besides that good to learn a new tip on EN, cheers
  8. I'm using EN-for-Windows also, v 6.25.1, what are you using? I'm not experiencing your issue, everything is working fine for me. Even if i have a note that is unsynced I'm still able to annotate images within. However I do always lose the 'annotate option' on images copy-pasted to existing notes, where that image was created from a screen capture of part of a web-page, using my Google Chrome Extension: FireShot. Perhaps this is your issue also. If it is, I think swapping extensions/addons may be the answer... As I've noticed that the Chrome 'Awesome Screenshot & Screen Recorder' extension, works fine when pasting a screenshot image from clipboard.
  9. You're very welcome. When I was starting with EN, many of the gurus on this forum, similarly shared many golden nuggets, and still do, so pass it on I say. Keyboard shortcuts are very useful and time saving, as shared by PinkElephant above. Beyond this I think the way to get the most out of EN for your particular use-case is to continue to participate in this forum, and when you can, upgrade to Premium subscription to allow yourself more features e.g. Templates , plus large upload limits. Even when I use any MS Office application to create documents, all of these are moved and centrally saved to EN. For managing and organising my information/online research, EN is my main-central app around which everything else revolves. As time goes on, you will discover that EN wont achieve everything on your wish-list, in which case and once again these forums have loads of tips and workarounds to help. Finally for more tips, I'd suggest just googling 'Best ways, methods, tips etc to use/organise Evernote, or some such. Also check out EN Online User Guides: Quick Start Guide & Full User Guide... good luck
  10. Just set up my wife with a new PC, and installed EN-for-Windows using latest version 6.25. Her account is 'Basic' for now, and I am on a Premium plan, also using latest EN-for-Windows v6.25 I have hardly ever used the EN sharing feature, and today when I tried to share a notebook, I noticed that everytime i typed in my wife email asociated with her EN account as the email address to share with, either a note, or notebook, as soon as I hit the enter key the field would just go blank. To remedy this I would use my mouse to cursor out of the field, and this would keep her email address in the field...i then click send/submit and all good. but when i walk over to her pC and sync, 5 moinutes or 5 hours later still nothing...and my note or notebook still says not shared! Am I doing something wrong? Is it becuase she's on a Basic account? Finally, I downloaded the .emex file for the whole notebook in question, and it is 16MB in size, so figured thats not the issue, or is it? And on this, is it possible for me to stick the enex file on a USB and upload to her EN account, even though it came from my EN account? cheers
  11. When in EN-Windows, try hitting the 'F11' key on your keyboard, or via clicking Menu >View >Note List, so that your 'Note List' is displayed. Also, and just as an aesthetic thing, so as to give you more screen space to view the note editor/note content...I would resize your 'Left Panel'... simply grab the right vertical edge of the panel with cursor and drag. You've already tried the File > Exit and restart option, so that's unlikely to help. Also, have you tried creating a new note 'CTRL+N' to see if you're actually able to do so? Finally, after you view your 'Note List' (F11)... also try F10 to toggle the 'Left Panel' on off (whilst Note List is still displayed)...quirky things can works sometimes As for your secondary problem...I think this is due to you having a Basic/Free subscription, in which case I believe EN does not provide basic users support.
  12. Jesus Mary & Joseph.... sometimes, sometime those small bloody things. Thanks @CalS that did the trick, and works perfect....God, just hold the left mouse button...walking away in shame now 😉
  13. Yes that's really the only workable solution, or just keep the image full size in the note, rather than constraining its size (inside or out of a table). Just strange the EN-Image Viewer/Galary View allows me to zoom in on these large images but does not allow to see the parts out of the viewable screen. sera sera
  14. Occasionally I add info-graphic images, or entire-full screen screen-captures of websites, so not just the visible part of a website that's displayed, but a screen-shot of the entire scroll-able length of a website. Normally, i will add them to a note as full screen, or perhaps grab a corner and resize it down a little... but then I thought why not just shrink/re-size them right down and should I later wish to view it, I could just double click on an image to view in the EN image viewer...sounds reasonable. Now the issue I'm having, is that on 1st entering the image viewer screen, EN resizes the image so the whole thing is viewable on screen. BUT--- when I zoom in on the image I'm left with no way to scroll up or down...!? And my keyboards 'vertical' and 'horizontal' arrow keys only cause the image viewer to move to the next image... plus I could find no way on my mouse to allow me to scroll these large images. Does anybody know how to scroll large long-form images in the EN image viewer??? All this make me suspect this is why the EN-web-clipper only allows a visible-part-of-screen screen capture. Attached below is the image I just added which caused me to raise this question to you all...cheers PS I'm on EN-for-Windows v6.25.1 (which I love)
  15. You @michaeljsalo could try creating a blank template note, of sorts, not to be confused with EN Templates, within which you would add content into the URL field... where it says 'Click to set source url...' simply hit the space bar 2 or 3 times, or xxx (but xxx will be visible unlike spaces), or whatever, then enter, and this content (three spaces) will prevent any URL being copied across, whether pasted as plain text or not. Then make as many copies of this blank note, which will serve as a template, for each new note you create
  16. also... instead of pasting the link into your EN-note, edit, copy the internal link text, then delete the link entry from the note... you could just have MS Notepad open, and paste there. BUT the strange thing is, that if you generate a link by 1) clicking Menu> Note> Copy Internal Link vs 2) doing CTRL+ALT+L the links pasted to Notepad are different! weird. One is internal, the other points to EN-Web
  17. It use to be that I would generate the link using EN-Web (the old version) then paste into another online site e.g. Asana, which was a pain, as 98% of the time I use EN-desktop for Windows. But it ensured that when I clicked the links, embedded in other websites, it opened my note locally on EN-desktop, and not EN-web. However that no longer appears to work! So the only solution left is the one you mentioned, which is much simpler than my old method, thanks for that, so simple, but still short of being ideal. I tried DTLow's suggestion above, but that did not work for me. Here are some posts I read when trying to get this handled some time ago...maybe the answer is there How to make Chrome open Evernote links in desktop app | 2015 How can i create an evernote link in desktop version to open the desktop version when pasted into a web link | 2019 Make links to notes to open with desktop app | 2019 Open Link with Desktop not with Browser | 2017 Workaround: How to Use Internal Links | 2019 Clicking web link to note goes to web Evernote, not locally installed app | 2016 - 2018
  18. no...the behaviour I described continues to happen, at least in my EN-for-Windows version 6.18.
  19. I can confirm that this behaviour occurs on my EN-Win v6.18.4 premium account also. Never been an issue for me as my multi-monitor and windows arrangement, between EN and File Explorer has been arranged such that these two are immediately adjacent side-by-side...but can see how this would be super annoying if another window setup is used. I tried dragging a file from File Explorer (on left side) to another File Explorer window on far right side, with EN app window in the middle, and used a file larger than my premium account allows, and the drag-n-drop was stopped half way... beyond the obvious of re-arranging windows to prevent this, if this should not be happening then yeah EN should get on top of it, as the pop-up should IMHO only occur on mouse button release.
  20. This is the EN-for-Windows forum. I'm not certain, but it appears you're using EN-Business, and possibly there is a permissions issue preventing you access from those functions. I'm using EN-for-Windows v6.18.4 and the issue you described works fine on my machine
  21. I have a 3 column table I'm using to plan a trip schedule. In each column I have used bullet points. Until just now, I was confused why EN's 'Match Note Width' or 'Distribute Column Widths' table formatting features, were going haywire when trying to apply them, instead applying very weird column width ratios like approx. 1:4:5. I discovered it was the use of bullet points used on the text inside each column? Once I removed the bullets from all or just 1st and last columns, it worked as expected! Is this a bug, or just me, and if me, is there a fix? I'm using EN-Win v6.18.4, cheers. See screen shot below
  22. I'm using EN for Win 6.18.4.8489 (308489) Public (CE Build ce-62.3.7750)... and same experience here, Import does not work! ouch
  23. Hi @gkoclanis Yeah I just tried to copy/paste some text into a pre-existing line of background-highlighted text, and got the same outcome as you...so it appears that my workaround only works for entering new text the old fashioned way via the keyboard. I don't know of a way to allow copy paste to work, sorry. Interestingly, copy/paste does work if the background-highlighted text uses the EN-Windows defualt background highlight color! EDIT: I just tried the above using EN-Web, and copy/paste does work there if you use CTRL+SHIFT+V to paste and match style...but of course you don't need to bother as EN-Web app already offers all 6 colors for text background highlight. So unless someone knows a way EN-Web is the only solution EDIT #2: I'm like a dog with a bone lol... If for some reason you cant access/use EN-Web, I just discovered you can open a MS Word Doc, paste a line of EN pre-highlighted background text >>> Then copy/paste all other text inside that line and it works >>> then copy back to EN-Win. Note you can also use the MS Background colors, BUT, these colors will not display in any other EN-Apps (EN-Web, EN-Android etc) but will remain in EN-Win
  24. Hey, yeah I noticed that, and from that side of the coin-perspective, makes sense also. The inconsistency for me is that Bold & Italics & Underline have a dedicated menu option on the editing toolbar and keyboard shortcut, yet 'Text Color' which also has a dedicated menu option, but NO dedicated shortcut. Seems to me if someone wants to apply/create a 'Text Color', then all other Font Formatting CTRL+D options are not required. Ultimately I guess this is for EN designers to debate, but seems to me Text Color needs its own dialog box...esp for the few of fairies out there that like to throw glitter colours on their text...lol
