It's really just a lot of whining at this point from several people who I'm sure are on thin ice with the moderators. I expect more accounts are going to get nuked soon.

You know, I really don't want any accounts nuked. I want people to express their opinions. It's when the opinions get detached from reality, and esp. when they become untrue and malicious opinions about other users, that I long for some calming down.

Still not working for me. It tries to open but never gets past the jumping toys before closing.

Are you still using v. 10.72.2, the subject of this thread? It was noted above what the issue was and that 10.73.4 fixed it. The current version is 10.84.3, which can be downloaded from the Evernote Website. First (as also recommended above) uninstall with Revo Uninstaller.

Evernote desktop won't load. I have uninstall and reinstall every day, sometimes the toys jump around on the intro and then black screen and then program disappears. I loved Evernote I have been using it for over 10 years but the older it gets the more laggy and slow it is, and the more notes and attachments seem to go missing.

Evernote just raised my price and now the program does not work on the desktop. I feel like Evernote is really just an online app now and the "desktop version" is just a skin for the website.

Random note pictures and attachments are just missing now and I can't access them from the phone, then I need to remember what note it was so I can check it on the desktop later but oh yeah desktop doesn't load anymore.

The search functionality is so slow. Filter or search by tag never refreshes so I get old results even though the notes in the search results don't have the tags on them. This happens across all my devices, phone, tablets, and both laptops, when the desktop program worked.

Sorry this got lost in the, um "sand" storm. WRT the desktop app, how are you uninstalling? Many recommend using Revo Uninstaller as doing a superior, more complete job than the standard Windows uninstall. If you haven't tried that yet, might be good to give it a shot to be sure there aren't any random bits left over.

As you install Evernote and download all your notes data, that will take some time. Everything will be slower as the notes are downloaded and the index rebuilt. After that, it should get better. The other factor will be the necessary conversion of notes to the new structure introduced a year ago for real-time editing and syncing, note by note as they are opened. Generally, once a note has been converted it will be faster to access than before.

Maybe it's easy to be satisfied with V10 when all you use it for is hoarding random notes on how to clean your underwear with vinegar.  But for those of us who have developed a highly-structured & detailed tool that we rely on regularly, it's a different story.

Really?  Does your livelihood depend on being able to access data in a system you've spent over a decade developing?  THIS IS ON TOPIC.

Leaving aside the insulting implication than only Legacy users do serious work.... You spent over a decade developing a business process centered on Evernote Legacy. You mean the whole process didn't just arrive with the Evernote 6 package? It took time to develop it? Then perhaps it's reasonable to think that using a new iteration of Evernote redesigned from the ground up will also take time to adjust to. Maybe it even would have been reasonable to start doing that in 2021, when it became clear that v. 10 was the future of Evernote, and Legacy would not continue forever.

George Bernard Shaw said, "The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable man persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man." I'm beginning to think the great man was mistaken, or at least too limited. It seems that all resistance to progress also depends on the unreasonable man.

Maybe it depends on your usage habits. If you are a keyboard shortcuts guy, you will welcome the slash-commands as a new possibility to avoid taking your hands off the keyboard. If you are rather mousing around, it will be no big deal.

The hype around it is probably that they introduced a feature offered by other note apps (take THAT, evil Notion). So, let’s lean back, it’s Popcorn time in the war of the notes apps. The EMPIRE strikes back …

    🤣

🤣 Popcorn time. If that means throwing popcorn at each other, I'm all for it. Unless I end up ankle-deep in popcorn. Come to think of it, I believe we could use a popcorn-throwing section in these forums.

  6. @Cristiano478, are all those nested headings actually links to other notes? That's what I'd think of as a TOC; I wouldn't need it to be collapsible headings. But good!

If they are note links, then I note with despair that they are blue, not green. Would you be willing to reply to @Federico Simionato on X that a number of users have noticed this and are wondering WT Actual F (not to put words into anyone's mouth)?

It seems like EN converts anything that looks like a domain name (like StartWatchTicket.sh ;-)) or starts with http[s]:// to an URL.
Unfortunately all other that should be converted to an URL (like file:///... or even evernote://...) is not recognized to be a valid hyperlink address 😞)

Yes, I wish there was a little more automatic converting. (But are you saying that you can type or paste something like evernote:///view/{codes of numbers and letters} and not get it transformed into a note link??) But since this thread started with a question about how to get it to convert less, my guess is that there is no level of automatic conversion that won't irritate some number of users, and I've decided to accept it as they're currently doing it (which will probably change at some point, without announcement, and raise another firestorm).

THAT should scare the CR@P out of anybody that has valuable attachments of any sort that were entrusting them to Evernote... Nuts!

Unless they are not experiencing these problems constantly, and when the problems happen they are able to correct them by waiting for a couple of minutes, as @s2sailor indicates in his post, and as I have experienced. I wish I knew why some people seem to experience this constantly, and others scarcely at all. Obviously it affects one's opinion of Evernote! I don't think it is the most common experience (bearing in mind that software forums obviously collect problem reports, not "working fine" reports), but it happens enough that Evernote really does need to at least offer an official explanation of it.

When I do a search on a topic, when I select a note, the app should open the note, and highlight the first occurrence of the search string.  It has happened in the past, but it seems every new update will either leave that feature off or bring it back.  It should always be there.  As an added bonus, it should have a little box somewher so you can go to the next occurrence of the search string easily.

Welcome to the forums. These are basically user to user, so no one here can take action on this. To report bugs, go to Settings in the app, then Support.

  10. Don't know about iOS, but Evernote for Android (at least for phones, may be different on larger devices) does not run in a browser. There are 2 Evernote link formats: https://www.evernote.com/shard/... (Web link, for browsers) and evernote:///view/... (for the Evernote app). For me both of those open only in the Evernote app on my Android phone. OTOH, an ordinary Web URL (non-Evernote) in an Evernote note always opens in my default browser. So I'm having trouble understanding how things are working for you.

Actually the update notice in Legacy only talks of an update. The 'V10 is a completely different app' narrative has come up in the forum recently but is not what BS promoted, it was announced as a new version of Legacy (screen shot from an inactive instance of Legacy from today

I just wanted to highlight that V10 in fact is pitched as an update to V10, not an entirely different app.

    >>"A new version of Evernote Legacy is available. Update to 10.78.2 to experience the latest improvements."<<

The notion that it is only came up recently in the forum when more and more deficiencies of V10 became evident

As long as you don't read past the first line. I hope the highlighting will be helpful:
