Mike Benton 0 Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Sometimes it works for a few seconds. If I stow the pen then pinch to zoom out and then back in I can sometimes use my finger. Would really like my S Pen to work for the Sketch feature. Any ideas? attached is a screen recording Screen_Recording_20230519_171503_Evernote.mp4 1
Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 4,014 Posted May 22, 2023 Level 5 Posted May 22, 2023 Welcome to the forums. There are 2 other recent threads here reporting much the same thing, so you're not alone. Just tried this on my S22 Ultra, and it worked. I'm on Evernote v. 10.50.4--what version do you have? Other threads: Sketch does not work Samsung tablet; Problem writing with stylus on Samsung TAB S7 on Android 13.
bulldog485 3 Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 I discovered this today on my Ultra S23 using version 10.51.2. Pen works for a few seconds and then doesn't work. Was able to replicate this on my Samsung Tab7 running version 10.51.2 also. This is frustrating as I do use the s-pen when taking notes, measurements and sketching out a rough blueprint. Seeing how the original post by Mike B was submitted on May 19th, I would have expected this to have been addressed.
Evernote Expert agsteele 3,077 Posted July 6, 2023 Evernote Expert Posted July 6, 2023 I'm not sure that pen support is intended for Evernote for Android. For sure, let Evernote know your interest via a support ticket.
GMaura 0 Posted July 14, 2023 Posted July 14, 2023 Im having the same issue with Galaxy S22 ultra and Galaxy tab active pro with evernote 10.51.2. This has been going on for at least a couple months and there are multiple threads concerning this with no response or fix. Why would pen support not be intended for evernote when it worked for years prior to the latest update?

Evernote broke this sometime in the last few weeks. As of Android version 10.51.2, the sketch functionality is completely broken.
Level 5 PinkElephant 9,017 Posted July 14, 2023 Level 5 Posted July 14, 2023 There is a mentioning of Sketch in the release notes for 10.52 - just not sure if it means exactly this issue: You can give it a try once it becomes available in the PlayStore.

ipolancor 0 Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 I have the same problem as Mike on my S7 plus tablet. I hope this error will be fixer quickly.
pmaddern 5 Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 I too am unable to use my S-Pen on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra to sketch a handwritten note in Evernote for Android 10.52.1. This is so frustrating as it would be ideal to have this working to be able to take a handwritten note. Does the Evernote team publish a list of known bugs for the Android version with an indication of which bugs they're working on with estimated target date for completion? If not, we're in the dark on when a fix can be expected!
Level 5 PinkElephant 9,017 Posted July 29, 2023 Level 5 Posted July 29, 2023 No, they don’t. Hopefully they work to fix all of them …

If not, we're in the dark on when a fix can be expected! Generally, software developers avoid publishing target dates for bug fixes or app updates. This is because unexpected stuff can happen and delay the release date, and then the already unhappy campers get really unhappy because it feels like a broken promise. So, in the dark we are (in our unhappy camp). Honestly (and I say this as someone what has repeatedly been called an Evernote fanboy for not agreeing with every negative opinion that's posted around here), at this point IMHO the most unexpected stuff that could happen would be that they'd release an update with all existing bugs fixed and no new ones created.
Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 4,014 Posted August 18, 2023 Level 5 Posted August 18, 2023 Version 10.53.1 has been rolling out. I finally got it on Google Play today. Unfortunately, it does not fix the sketching issue as described in this thread. I even restarted the phone after installing it, and no joy.
magiaros 2 Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 I cannot take handwritting Notes on galaxy fold 4 and on galaxy tab s8 ultra Obviously evernote technicians are sleeping Evernote is only interested for the subscriptions and to increase the cost Best devices cannot use evernote I have switched to samsung notes and I will ask for a refund Keep sleeping evernote!
Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 4,014 Posted August 25, 2023 Level 5 Posted August 25, 2023 Abusive, and posted more than once. 1
Alxa 502 Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Just got 10.54 and unfortunately the S Pen issue seems still not fixed (on my devices). 2
BasM 1 Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 I'm on 10.56. Still not working as expected. 1
Ibere Ranieri 0 Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Almost the same problem. But I think, in my case is a little bit worse. Every time I press skecth, it freezes Evernote on my S23.
Level 5 PinkElephant 9,017 Posted October 29, 2023 Level 5 Posted October 29, 2023 That’s a new bug that came with release 10.57 for mobile. Not yet fixed with 10.57.2. 2
Level 5 PinkElephant 9,017 Posted November 7, 2023 Level 5 Posted November 7, 2023 Fixed with 10.58.1, already available on iOS, but still not released by Google for Android.
pmaddern 5 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Thanks. Here in the UK, we're way behind on Android Evernote builds. We're still on version 10.57.2!

Level 5 PinkElephant 9,017 Posted November 7, 2023 Level 5 Posted November 7, 2023 I think that's not only in the UK. It seems Apple is much faster in releasing internally to the AppStore, than Google for the PlayStore.
Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 4,014 Posted November 10, 2023 Level 5 Posted November 10, 2023 I just was able to get 10.58.1 today. Sketching is improved but still erratic, meaning (a) it doesn't crash; (b) both S Pen and finger can be used to sketch, but may stop after an unpredictable number of strokes; (c) the finger seems to need a lot of pressure to work.
OliviaJustWantsGoodNoteApp 0 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Still an issue 🙃 Android version: 13 Evernote version: 10.60.2 Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab s9 FE+
Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 4,014 Posted December 4, 2023 Level 5 Posted December 4, 2023 My S22 Ultra just got upgraded to Android 14 (and OneUI 6). I tested again, and found that finger sketching now seems to work well, if I keep a steady pressure. S Pen on the other hand is a hot mess: It will start writing when I press down, but very soon it will begin air sketching--I can't lift the stylus from the screen far enough for it to stop recording every movement I make on the sketch. Totally unusable. 2

Totally unusable. I just bought Evernote to use with handwritten notes on my S24 Ultra and I'm getting the exact same behavior. Identical. Air sketching, and then connect the dot straight lines.. and then it works for a split second before going haywire all over again. 1 1
deanvefikizgi 0 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 11.02.2024... Version 10.68.. Still have the same problem on my note 20 and Lenovo Tab 11.....
Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 4,014 Posted February 12 Level 5 Posted February 12 The current version I got from Google Play is 10.75.1 (the same version number as the desktop and Web apps, though they are at 10.75.2). I just tried again, and I found that if I kept a firm and steady hand on the S Pen I could write successfully with it. I'm hoping this may mean the long wait is over. But I could be wrong! This was on a Galaxy S22 Ultra, in a note that I created as a blank note, and then added sketches to with the green + button. 1 1
Mia 43 Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Using the new Samsung Galaxy 24U now. I'm trying S Pen with Gboard. Samsung keyboard handwriting typing made zero sense. Possibly an AI thing. SPen is working to type within notes, can Scroll thru notes in EN, But cannot edit within Notes. Managed to make a sketch, probably do not have scrolling enabled within notes for continuous sketch. Yeas, updated to 17.5.1. Thought this could add to your info @Dave-in-Decatur 1
Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 4,014 Posted February 14 Level 5 Posted February 14 Thanks, @Mia. And what a charming sketch! 1
Mia 43 Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Haha 🌸 . Kind of you 🫢, quickly done as well. Thank u for your continued helpful info 👍🏼 1

Nacho 2 Posted July 11 Posted July 11 I have a Samsung S23 Ultra and I can't use the S Pen with Evernote to handwrite notes. I had to buy the Notes In app to verify that the problem is not in the device. This is a problem that Evernote should fix, especially for those of us who pay annually for a service. 1
Level 5 PinkElephant 9,017 Posted July 11 Level 5 Posted July 11 EN doesn't advertise handwriting as a feature. EN doesn't build features around handwriting. If you want handwriting support right now, you got the wrong app. One day, maybe ... To enhance your chances: feedback@evernote.com
