Tags can be easily bulk-added and bulk-deleted quickly from a large quantity of similar notes. Since you need to do this frequently over a relatively short period of a few months, you could assign a temporary tag. Here is what I would do: Run these searches individually. Add a tag named '2013-temp' to each result. Search for 'tag:tax-2013'Search for 'tag:tax-longterm'The entire process won't take more than a minute. If you add some additional 2013 tax records a few days later, just be sure to include both tags When you search for '2013-temp', you will get the records you want - no switching back and forth. A month or so after the tax season is over, go back and delete the '2013-temp' tag Rinse and Repeat next year.

I can see why you didn't test it with the Windows client. Here are the results and they have the same problem as the missing twitter comments I mentioned in my post. http://goo.gl/ALx0DC #1 - Original website screen grab #2 - Evernote web clipper - article #3 - Evernote web clipper - full page #4 - Clearly I'm using: Evernote for Windows version 5.0.3.1614 Evernote Web Clipper 5.9.1 Clearly 9.3369.854.431 Firefox 26.0

I took a look at the link supplied by Wern, but that was a bit too technical for me. The problem is not limited to math and scientific equations. A similar problem occurs with many websites that embed twitter comments in their reports. Here is a comparison of a screen grab image with a Clearly capture. http://goo.gl/ZmXABh

Feature Request: Commenting on Notes
jbenson2 replied to akrde's question in Evernote Teams Requests
One work-around could be to create a 2nd note for comments. Then paste the link (for the comment note) at the bottom of the original note. The link could be re-named to something like: "Click here to add comments". This work-around would avoid the need for integration because both are already inside Evernote. And it would be easy to implement and train other employees. Yes, this does mean an extra comment note for each original that generates comments. -
Yeah, some people have birthdays and anniversaries that reoccur in subsequent years.

If I don't like the sequence, and I want to fine-tune some specific notes, I will change the "Created Date" to adjust the sort. Then create a new table of contents.

Password Protected Notebooks

To avoid putting this sort of info into the cloud, I store the bill, statement, and payment details in a local non-sync'd notebook. This makes the info only available on my home computer. -
How to sort the text within a note
jbenson2 replied to Howard Hill's question in General Feature Requests
Just sorting alphabetically won't cut it for me. Evernote should be able to sort my list (grocery list) according to the aisles the products are displayed in so I can shop efficiently. It would make my grocery shopping so much easier if it had an auto-learn aisle hierarchy design. Of course I shop in different grocery stores so it is critical that Evernote also allow customized multiple aisle-sorting capabilities depending on which store I am in. Perhaps they should also offer a spoken item by item capability so that I don't have to keep looking down at my phone to see what is the next item on my list. Multilingual narration capability with proper food pronunciation should also be included. -
Incredible display of short term thinking and elitism (among other things) - not even sure where to start. First of all, our future is in education, so a business model that promotes education is always a sound investment. Second, even as a ruthless business strategy, having no concern for anyone other than themselves, EN can get tax write-offs for discounting education accounts AND hook students into Evernote while they are young and create future business. Either way, philanthropy or Big Business, it can work for Evernote... Many people realize the fallacy of your "investment" logic. Just look at the results of the current public education system - specifically science, math, reading - compared to other countries paying far less per student. Businesses such as Evernote have a concern to their shareholders and owners, not philanthropy. The general consumer has a concern for their own pocketbook as evidenced by the balance of trade figures. The vast majority of purchases are based on cost and quality, not charity. And Evernote does offer a special package for schools.

Password Protected Notebooks
jbenson2 replied to EvernoteLover9's question in General Feature Requests
Not just Phil, but even the people-in-charge don't know what is going on with the NSA. WaPo’s bombshell: Feinstein didn’t know about NSA’s audit of privacy violations The big story is that Congress, overseers of the NSA and guardians of the public’s privacy, seems to have zero idea of how many “incidents” there are. And that includes the congressional watchdog-in-chief — the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who did not receive a copy of the 2012 audit until The Post asked her staff about it. The NSA, it seems, really is an island unto itself inside the federal government. http://goo.gl/k7caQV -
Nesting Multiple Notebooks / Creating Sub-Notebooks
jbenson2 replied to cswsteve's question in General Feature Requests
We are users of Evernote so we don't know what is the mind of Evernote developers, but putting a few pieces of the puzzle together - here is my assumption: Several of the power users on this forum have run into problems with large numbers of notes. Some people have solved the problem by off-loading their larger notes or switching to text based notes. Other people have resorted to running multiple accounts of Evernote thereby reducing the number of notes in each account. If the Evernote database has difficulty with large numbers of individual notes, then the problem managing multiple levels of notebooks could just make this scaling problem worse. -
+1 The first full moon of the month would be helpful.

Besides 50% student discounts, I think Evernote should also offer Teacher discounts, Senior Citizen discounts, Active Military discounts, Former Military Discounts, Discounts for Charitable Organizations, Union discounts, Government employee discounts, discounts for the unemployed, discounts for the Arts. Just think how much all these organizations could add to Evernote's future growth and bottom line. What? I'm just saying...

Nesting Multiple Notebooks / Creating Sub-Notebooks
jbenson2 replied to cswsteve's question in General Feature Requests
Some of my old files are stored in a complex folder structure on my external archival drive. Earlier this week, I had a bear of a time locating one specific file due the labyrinth of folders, subfolders, and nested folders. It is so, so much easier to find stuff in Evernote using tags and structured titles. Even though I've got 20,000+ notes, I try to keep the number of notebooks down to just 7. -

The Plus sign is an interesting concept. With the way Evernote search logic works, the plus might have to be in front of the Parent tag. Here is the work around I use to find all the Children tags Hardware Hdw-Computer Hdw-Router Hdw-HubTo find all the notes tagged with the children of Hardware, I search for tag:Hdw-* . -

Nesting Multiple Notebooks / Creating Sub-Notebooks

I'd steer away from the multiple notebook issue entirely. Just one notebook named Travel All my travel notes for 50+ countries are thrown into a single notebook: Travel plans, Hotel info, Restaurant info, flight details, directions, cost, etc. Just use a consistent well structured title. For instance, I use the structure YYYY-MM-DD Country State/City Company Description Person Here are some random notes from my own Travel notebook (with tags) 2004-11-13 Germany Munich Holiday Inn City Centre JLB (tag:hotel) 2000-06-14 Costa Rica Santa Ana Biker's Bar cervesas w/ Marino Chavez JLB (tag:restaurant) 1998-06-14 USA MA Boston London Amsterdam BA flt JLB DLB (tag:flight) 1997-05-11 India Delhi Oberoi Maidens Hotel JLB (tag:hotel)If I wanted to find hotels in India, I would search for: intitle:India tag:hotel. -

It might be a nice feature, but it is not a must-have feature for the majority of Evernote users. -

Good luck. If you also use an iPad or Mobile device with Evernote, you might want to consider eventually renaming the notebooks for easier identification and less confusion. example: Work Wk-Clients Wk-Expenses Wk-Projects Home Hm-Bills Hm-Family Hm-Friends Hm-Hobbies Hm-Maintenance.
