  1. Tip: Sensitive data should not be in Evernote... this is a note taking app and not build for sensitive data imo.
  2. @Robert Blomstrand The choices Evernote made have consequences.. The foundation the new Evernote is build on will always be slower than the legacy versions. Maybe the stability will be fixed over time, but the application is new so it comes with bugs... and because Evernote needs (wants) to expand the features due to the competition (that's the priority at this moment, see release notes) the stability will suffer... that's guaranteed.
  3. Yep, 85% of browser support... maybe smart to implement a JS replaceAll polyfill for the time being?
  4. You cannot white/black list email addresses unfortunately. When someone knows (or guesses) your Evernote address they can (ab)use this feature.... There is an option to reset the Evernote generated Email address.. But NEVER click on links in these notes.....
  5. I know there is an legacy system, I did switch back (with help because of import / export issues) to make a new backup export file. So a had my data and so i can migrate to.... Legacy isn't available on mobile, 80% of the time I'm on mobile. So this is not a real solution, for my personal workflow. My issue with Evernote today is: They know data is not secured, they know people experience data corruption and loss. And there is no disclaimer, there is no warning that this can happen to you. What does that say about the priority within the core of Evernote? How important is securing your data in the cloud, note-taking in it core is: Once you capture information is says their like it is captured, unless the customer edits. When installing V10 a message should be displayed : Version 10 is an experimental version, data can be corrupted. Use legacy version for productional / sensitive / important data.
  6. Tags are good and bad at the same time, if you look for efficiency / productivity When you use tags it is difficult to minimize the amount for tags. You need to choose your tags wisely else you end up with 100+ tags. And than the struggle begins: - You create a new note.. which tag to use? Did I already had one? Or is there a need for a new one. - The time spent in searching for the right tags (often multiple tags are used for 1 note) , organizing the hierarchy, and maintaining correct spelling and removing unused tags takes time (Lots of time over a month). Based on how your brain works, how will you find non digital stuff if you put it in a desk or cabinet, create a system and let the search engine do the heavy work. Yes I use tags/labels in some occasion. My titles are formatted in a way the search engine can find what I search, I use a text expander tool to help me in consistency. Notebooks are based on project, clear topic/goal or one big cabinet. This makes it easier to archive or even delete "clutter" if needed.
  7. Yes, but will they stay the coming months or even years? Evernote made a risk analyzes and concluded that this was the right way and released V10. Some customers left, some joined... but the trust issues (for me personally) with Evernote are not restored. Lost multiple notes, and when you create new notes it is not guaranteed your data will stay the same or available. This is a big trust issue because you cannot check all your notes, every single update or new feature. For example, day to day usage: - You make a screenshot with web clipper and store your note in a safe place. - After a while you decide to export your notebook for archiving. - Later you import this notebook again... the screenshot is not shown any more... OR - you annotate the screenshot. Same result: image is deleted... Yes it is a bug and will be fixed later... But data integrity should have the highest priority for a note taking app which stores all data in the cloud environment. We will see if this data bug has higher priority that lets say: a shortcut key for the find command.
  8. When I start Evernote the memory consumption is around 500 MB, but when using the app it's consumption explodes... 2 Gb of memory consumption after a day's work was standard, 3 or 4 GB was also "Normal behavior" prior to v10.8.4. The laptop did slowdown because of a note-taking app... it uses more memory than video effects editing or High detailed gaming... for note taking 🙃. Think this is excessive memory consumption... Have no experience with the latest version...but cannot imagine that this memory consumption topic is addressed in this release..
  9. When I setup my Evernote (and now an other software stack) I first analyzed how my brain works. How will I search for something if it wasn't in digital space. What if it was in a filing cabinet, on paper... Then I looked at the options available in Evernote (or other tools) and setup a way to find stuff and is easy to maintain. Every productivity system (and note taking is part of this) should be: - Simple in every day use, not hours of work to maintain or use - Flexible to adjust, because over time you will change so your setup will change - Trustworthy, once in you must find it in a couple of seconds. Otherwise you'll try to remember, or write is somewhere else. - Must match with your way of working, if you must change your workflow you'll get frustrated and than to system will fail you. If you must adept your workflow because of the application, please look for an other piece of software.
  10. Not true, BASIC plan users are customers, just like you and me. The difference is in service agreement and the payment details, but when you register a account you accept: By creating an account, you agree to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy When you read the Terms of Use you will discover the contract terms between user and Evernote. So BASIC users are as much as customer as PREMIUM users with different service aspects and agreements
  11. You can try incognito / private mode in one of the browsers. In these browser tabs no cookies of session information is kept.
  12. This is true. But the decisionmakers did something really stupid, and didn't put any effort in repairing the damage done. When it was clear that V10 was like Windows ME (or vista) back in the day's... they should start communicating with their customers. They neglected that... The approach was: Communicate how awesome our product already is, and will become in the future. But in my work (whole company) and personal life the people left, none of them trust the integrity of Evernote... loss of data was the real killer in this all (for some in combination with unreachable support 14 days response time 🙃) I have respect for the Dev's, it must be hard for them to see their product in the state it is.... in production. But I really hope for the dev teams that Evernote survives this failure, competitors have one big advantage... that's the distrust some of the customers have in regards to Evernote. And when companies leave they don't switch back that easy due to productivity loss..
  13. https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=alternative+evernote 👍 This link: https://www.guru99.com/best-alternatives-to-evernote.html provides some alternatives, but only you can decide what works best for you.
  14. This is seen as bad practice, it doesn't help you in staying safe from unwanted visitors. Unique, strong passwords, don't share or write down your passwords and 2FA enabled is the way to go + security levels from Evernote should keep you safe. But no guarantees.. .
  15. additional info: when exported file is adjusted, filename is added in enex file, and imported. Annotation also works fine... think this solves the issue with disappearing screenshots. But exporting, adjusting, importing is not a nice work around 💀
  16. @Heffalump couple of weeks ago Ian Small was interviewed by Francesco D'Alessio (keep productive, youtube). He was trilled about the way Evernote is evolving (even with some small glitches'), it seems they are convinced that they are doing the right thing. And this is worrying for some of their users... But I cannot imagine that the current state of development is ok for the senior dev's... it is buggy as **** , not something to be proud of. Maybe for alpha or beta 1 release... but not for production release .
  17. Issue seems to be in the file-name tag. When you copy the source-url address https://www.evernote.com/shard/***** then a file is with screenshot is downloaded. When you place this filename in the file-name tag and import the enex file it works fine... Think dev's should look at this
  18. I know that APKMIROR is as safe as it can get, but installing APK files from sources on the internet is not risk free. For normal every day people it is impossible to determine if the source is safe, this is one of the way's how accounts get hacked. So installing via third-party solution should not be a option, because of the security risks. Lots of people store all their passwords in Evernote, what if a compromise APK file gets installed? Nope I really hope Evernote provides a work-around solution for the users that need a work-around. That's the least they can do (and should do in my opinion)
  19. What? Installing via third-party application is an good option for you? Nope, this is asking for security troubles. (maybe this is why i read more and more: My account is hacked?) How can you assure the provide APK files are legit and why do you think APK installing is off by default on Android. Shouldn't Evernote provide a legacy option for mobile and other platforms? They should know by now that v10 is big failure for some of their customers. And if you try to reach support all they can answers is: working on it, cannot help you ... legacy is not supported... big help... not.
  20. It seems too take a minute or x before search works..🤬
  21. @PinkElephant 100% agree with parts of your reply 🙃. And my stress levels are low as well. Evernote made this discussion forum so they could get feedback on their product. I'm happy to give them mine, and I wasn't happy with V10 and not with switching back to the legacy version. This was hours of extra effort on my part to get notes in sync... eventually i have chosen to go back to older export-files (locally stored) and merge it with the new notes (from time v10 was installed). Also Mobile and Legacy don't like each other, and this makes note-taking / archiving / second brain unreliable... it is even the next level of unreliable.... You think note and information is stored, you verified the information was in Evernote.... hours later is seems your information is gone/not up-2-date.... This is a really bad sign, when you store information in the assumption you can forget it for the time being and then it is deleted/misplace or what ever.... then you can not trust your system.... and then the whole principle of "set and forget" is gone, before v10 I never doubted Evernote in collecting my information (second brain).. But that's gone, cannot trust Evernote's Application and Communication ... But I hope for all new customers and for those who stay that Evernote V11 is the real deal.
  22. Legacy on Mobile? Nope... and once in V10 the switch back is a real thing with 10k+ notes. Doubled notes, out of sync notes and even missing notes... I went that route and with some help all is restored (i think) so i could leave and migrate to other solution. So not for all customers it is bad / buggy software, but for me this is not the software of choice...
  23. There is something really strange with screenshot webclipper... I'm no beta tester but: 1- make screenshot with web clipper to new note 2- export new note to local disk 3 - import local note into Evernote -> Result: No image in import note I assume there is some information missing, when export file is opened in text editor and source-url information is used, the file exists on Evernote server. After edit the source-url is deleted. Hope this helps Evernote Dev's? I can give my approach and file if necessary for analyses. But with some simple testing everyone can produce this result.
  24. In version 10.7.6 screenshot + annotation will be deleted. When I make a screenshot with the Web Clipper and duplicate the imported note... the duplicated note has no screenshot... only text. When screenshot in original note is annotated the screenshot disappears and cannot be found anywhere. Tested in version 10.7.6 / Windows 10
  25. No I'm not discussing half full / empty... My personal opinion is simple. The product was fine (maybe not the newest features etc..), new release came and the product was totally different. Broken if you ask me... So because I'm still a customer, until end of subscription, I will not accept this broken release.. You shouldn't either. When Evernote classifies this a an New update release, bring back the old features, than this is a disrespect for it customers... And I know that you think the same about this, what if 1Password will change like Evernote did..? New Release... Electron Web version, only option : USERNAME + PASSWORD logging, you will drop 1Password in a heartbeat. Even when they promise update release in the upcoming months (years)... No, it is damage control release management.... 💀
