  1. My 2cents: For note taking: try workflowy. This is a simple (an therefore complex) tool to help you get your notes / ideas ect.. out of your brain. But you must try it for a couple of hours/days to know if it is something you like.... For Webclipping: Notion. Joplin, Onenote For Data/ File / Document storage: Cloud base storage (onedrive, google drive, dropbox). Look for HIPAA certified if secure cloud storage is important for you. If you want a Evernote (one stop shop) but then made by some other company: Onenote, Joplin, Obsidian (or look at Roam.. but I didn't test it my self) ---- Because of the V10 Evernote release I felt the need to rethink my workflow and tools to be productive. I've switched and after adepting I can say that Evernote V10 was a game changer, but not as I had predicted. More productivity, less irritation. I use more tools, Yes, but sometimes more is more... I now use tools that best fits me and my workflow. In the past Evernote "dictated" what I could and couldn't do due to missing features, but I didn't need to change... didn't feel the need... So in the end, for me, V10 was the best update in years 😁. (but the last period I wasn't happy with the changes made) Good luck with finding your best fit setup. Try out new stuff, use it for a couple of days because you need to learn and reprogram yourself.... And know that Evernote application is just a tool to help you, and not the other way around....
  2. @PinkElephant Congratulations on your +1 👍 (agian)
  3. Yes text seems to paste ok on 10.8.4... still the bullets are not seen as bullets, but as text. So you must still convert them to a bullet list. This is also the case with number lists. But there is some progress... for sure... Didn't noticed the changes, don't use Evernote on daily basis anymore. Can't trust the applications and had a workaround in place for every bug / glitch. Then i realized: what I'm i doing? So I moved away and use something that fits my workflow at the moment.
  4. Pasting Word text with bullets to Evernote is also a pain... this is also multi-step process/action... On android the app even crashes when you try, lost multiple notes this way. So I'm not surprised this copy Image is also multistep...
  5. Look for a hipaa compliant service, that is a good starting point... Evernote isn't hipaa certified... This does not mean that security is bad..
  6. @maq your email is shown, if you don't mind spam then it is ok👍
  7. I don't know your reasons why you want to encrypt, but general advice: Evernote isn't build with encryption in mind*. If you have data that must be private for whatever reason maybe you should look for a application build for this level of security...? Sure you can use Evernote as container for storing encrypted data, encryption done in seperated tools, but you rely on the server side security of Evernote with data you encrypted for reasons in the first place. This is a stranges security strategy if you ask me... *Edit: Encryption of notes or documents...
  8. This is only possible in legacy version of Evernote. The new and improved version 10 doesn't have this option (for now). But when you grap the file en move it to the v10 client it will create a new note in the active notebook... sort of..
  9. Not in combination with Office documents, when you copy paste text most of the time the app crashes.... result-> Note is deleted or corrupted. Searching is OK, navigating also... it is better, although a key feature is still missing: performance....
  10. Support ticket create, files and screenshot deliverd. Default awnsers don't work... Let's wait and see...
  11. Uninstall and reinstall should never ever be a solution when issues occure in software... You don't break down your house when your window is broken. Yes i know this solves 90% of issues, but it is almost a default response in v10... And install legacy version.. 😒 It's a sad day in Evernote happy cloud...
  12. Update: Installed Legacy version on Windows... Corrupted or misplaced notes not available in legacy... note are stuck in cloud Nice detail / difference in speed: Importing 460 notes (+-/ 450 MB) in V10: 105 minute of processing time... 4 notes a minute. Installing and sync my current notes 4500, (+/- 5GB): 30 minutes of processing time... 150 notes a minute...
  13. Noticed following when searching notes for exporting Note was found, but not in any notebook??? How is that even posible? Found couple of notes in this state.... like blur is on purpose Problem is: Note cannot be opened or exported or deleted... it is stuck for ever... Android, Web and Windows Desktop, same issue (all latest versions, for the fun I will try legacy version... first find the correct install files).. Hope that I'm alone in this bug... 👍
  14. If you looking for an Evernote made by others then you will need to accept some compromises... But Joplin seems promising, if you accept some differences. OneNote by Microsoft, or Notion (although not distraction free due to the feature bloat they introduced). Or look at your whole process of collecting, archiving and get productive and choose the best tool for the job... Evernote is somewhat a One-Stop-Shop in note-taking, archiving, searching.... but some tools are better in a single thing. Evernote was unique in best of the worlds, but per feature some are better. If you want one tool, is is hard to find a better Evernote based on the pre v10 version (legacy)... But with V10.. nuff said..
  15. @gazumped I get your point, but this is a discussion forum, and in a topic called Hate the new Evernote you won't find positive messages. I know my options, and executed them as we speak. So I'm happy how things turn out at the end. But I'm curious why people, like you i seems, are not in doubt about this. The End...
  16. Count your blessings 👍. The issues I had are really frustrating... but every "crisis" brings new possibilities. This was a eye-opening event and made me realize that even a company as Evernote is a vulnerability when it comes to data safety and availability.
  17. I didn't see any of this... Some day i received an update message that V10 was released and if I want to install the version. Years (10+) of quality updates as track record... I never blinked and updated the release... Took some time, was happy... missed some features but read that new release should come quickly... Then i used the version, holy ***** Update on Andriod, same story... autou pdates pushes the new version. And still today, when looking on the Evernote pages, they want you to use V10. Translated from my language, the page about install legacy software: We realize there are situations where it is necessary or desirable to use an older version of Evernote. This version is available for a limited time while we are working on adding some of the legacy features to our new apps. This seems to be based on missing features..., i don't miss features, I'm missing data and in some cases (copy pasting MS-Word data on Andriod) you loss existing notes as well... or when you edit screenshot taken with web clipper
  18. When copy pasting is done on Andriod, the app crashes... Note is lost, so be aware of this issue and don't copy paste directly when bullet points are involved. Also see:
  19. When v10 was release this seemed like a normal release of the product. Within days it was clear V10 wasn't ment for real production... due to all kind of issues and bugs. I tried to contact support in every way possible, support tickets, social media, communities etc... default responses after days from some... even received message, on topic lossing data, after 17 days: install legacy, maybe it is recoverable... holly.. *** This overwhelm of support is also a big big signal that something was really really wrong with the release V10. But never ever received any email, read any official blog about the issues some (whole companies) experienced. Only how great the new version is, but nothing about how stuff will be fixed. Not missing features, but serious bugs that makes Evernote a real pain in the *** Again: if I didn't experience any issues and loss of data then I would stay too, maybe even defending Evernote. But seeing the real Evernote, the one who does not seem to be able to deal with problems, made me realize there is something wrong. If you think that a customer with issues is helped with some canned responses (it is a fast way to eliminate the support queue), you are wrong. And every question based on the given advise takes days to get a response... and it doesn't help... legacy on mobile? What, were, how? My company left Evernote, and I know more and more companies are leaving or already left. Personally I'm trying other applications, in the meanwhile Evernote is my static database. So no real use anymore (thank for that), only searching if needed. When I decide which product will replace EV than data will be migrated. But just wonder why people don't see it as a problem, data integrity must be prio 1, 2 and 3.. Thanks for asking, so I can refine my statement.👍 Hope you and others will not get into the *** like some others.
  20. @PinkElephant If the data corruption wasn't happing then your post makes sens to me... But the data corruption is there, still today... not as much, but still corruption and data loss is part of the V10, and for all I know also in Legacy... This huge issue and not proper communication about the issues= Mega trust problem for me. Don't you worry about this new experience some of us (customers) have? Maybe you was lucky or others did some stupid migration things... But in every day use of the application: windows desktop and mobile usages you are will get sync issues, notes that are magically adjusted, duplicated notes, date of note gets adjusted. Copy pasting will crash app and note data is corrupted... etc...ect... I am very curious why you do not think this is a bad development and believe that Evernote is on the right track. What signals did I miss? Hope you will or can answer this, because I hope the Evernote fixes things and is trustworthy again.
  21. On Evernote android version 10.4 (1109602) the app seems to crash when copy - paste command is given from a Word Document with bullet text. Reproduction: 1. Create Word document (mobile office version 1.0.1 (16.0.13628.20214)) with two lines of text with bullets 2. Copy the text from Word Document 3. Create new note in Evernote mobile android 4. Long press in blank note until short menu option pops-up and choose to paste the text -> Result: crash of app. Work-around: Make use of the default clipboard manager, open this and past from menu. Than app will work.
  22. The new version is build upon the Electron framework, this (an any other framework) will be slower than applications build in native code (for example C++ or C#). But over time (years) devices will be faster, but for now it will be slower (always)... I know and as CEO he must believe in his product and team. But in all honesty.... he should be mad as **** that this is the state of the product... I can only guess what went wrong, but product wasn't ready for production and even today it is the current release. When it was clear that data loss and corruption occurred all red flag signals should pop-up. Stop the migration, analyze what is wrong and try to fix the damage (trust). Start real customer communication and maybe advice to roll-back... This was the reason for me to leave after years and years the best note-taking app. Never doubted Evernote with my data, always relied on the professionality and quality of the Evernote decisions. Was I wrong? Apparently I was... don't know what happened, maybe due to competitors like notion that Evernote decide to change they product...we don't know... but v10 in current state isn't the best application out there. Hope that in the coming months things will turn for the better... 😀
  23. I see more people give this advice, I followed this advice... not without consequences. I lost important notes due to sync issues between v10 and legacy... I had some help in trying to restore notes, but was unsuccessful. Weeks later i've discoverd issues with existing notes. Older notes that that where imported and migrated from old version to v10 and back again, static notes for reference. Because I cannot check all 10k+ notes I must trust data integrity... So when you advice install the legacy version please also advice: Make a proper backup in case migration breaks / fails.
  24. @DTLow Yes if you create enough notebooks it is the same as using tags, correct. Why I mentioned that tags are (in most cases) inefficient is that a note can have more tags but only belongs to 1 notebook. When you use tags you probably add more tags and will move the note to a notebook. So more actions must be done to process a note. But i assume that you will move the note to a notebook and not keep al in the default notebook. The search engine is (should be) powerful enough to find your note based on some text (OCR etc.). This way of finding stuff is superior over clicking on the tag structure...
