Hi, I just realized I had a similar issue, though just with one note so far. The note was made back in April through the web client but I just noticed today all the info on it was gone. Its not a loading issue, it's completely blank. There is also a duplicate of the note, also blank, dated to the third. I don't think I've edited the note since I first created and wrote it. (Never used a forum before, apologies if this should be its own "idea")

Welcome to the forums. You're good. Your best bet might be to use the Note History feature (in the ... menu to the right of the green Share button at top right). History is kept for all accounts, but is only accessible with a paid subscription. If you're on a free account, you can subscribe for just one month to do this, and then drop back to free.

On all my devices - 3 macOS computers, iPad, iPhone, I'm getting long delays (over ten minutes) where the app does not communicate to the server displaying "Syncing temporarily paused. You can continue editing while Evernote reconnects."

Some discussion of this issue here (you're not alone):

I'm not sure whether closing and reopening the program helps syncing or impedes it, to tell the truth, but I don't work with Macs. But if this persists, you should definitely contact support: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

  3. @Magnus Lidbom, I can't suggest anything to get note links to work as they used to in Legacy. I do think that expecting support to change the way the software works to match your needs, and suggesting that its current way of working is not sane, was always going to end the way it did. Unless you could show that a large number of users needed this, what could they do?

All the same, with the well-developed system you've worked out, I can see that v. 10 would become a real mess. Reconfiguring (maybe with backlinks) would be a mess also. Exporting to a different program/service might be painful too, unfortunately. I hope Legacy will continue to work for you. If OS changes begin to make it difficult to run Legacy, running it in a virtual machine might be a workaround (not really a solution). Do you use Evernote on multiple devices with multiple OSes? If not, the VM workaround might be manageable if it comes to that.

I have had the exact same problem on the same timeline as you. As of a few days ago, I can no longer save any notes as template. I have looked up and tried all the fixes such as adding a heading etc. This is really inconvenient and it seems to have coincided with the recent update. I have a paid Evernote Personal subscription.

Welcome to the forums. I don't use templates myself, but I just checked this out. I have a Professional subscription, and I also cannot convert a note to a template by any means or trick. Typing, header, title--Save as template remains grayed out. I have never saved any templates of my own; there is a section in the Template Gallery called My Templates, but it just consists of 9 templates from the main gallery, not ones that I created. (They may be ones I tested out awhile ago.) So yes, it seems to be broken. @Charlie Becker, your best bet would be to report this to support (https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new). There's nothing that any of us fellow users here can do other than confirm the problem. Likewise @salgud.

Is there a way to keep the shortcuts showing all the time in Evernote Windows? They get obscured when the list of notebooks scrolls up.

I understand this as meaning that, when the list of notebooks opens downward and you scroll down through it, the shortcuts disappear. I see that too. It is possible to click on "Notebooks" and have the list of notebooks open out. Then you can either click on a notebook or on the arrow next to it to to get its list of notes in two different formats, in all cases keeping the shortcuts visible. Hope that helps.

There will never be a reversion to the old design. As mentioned the last time you asked, select the Notes view, click the three dot menu and choose the sort by option you require as well as the view options.

Leave Evernote in Notes view and that's where you will return.

This is my experience too. Simply using it in Notes view once will make it return to Notes view every time, I believe.

I'm still on vacation and haven't filed a technical support ticket. But the problem is very strange. Since it only applies to a small part of the notes. I have dozens, maybe 100 notes edited daily from 12 different accounts. However, the problem does not appear every day. Haven't found any dependency yet. While decided to update all accounts to the latest version. Suddenly, the problem is already solved in the update.

I also noticed that even if you change something in a damaged note and the system creates a backup copy, then the text is displayed correctly in the backup copy. However, the problem persists in the note itself.

If someone understands exactly what sequence of actions spoils the note or can spoil it consciously, please report here.

It does seem to be related to notes created with a widget or quick-note, rather than in the main note editor. Possibly the backup copy has passed through the main editor, which does not have the problem. I also wonder whether the change to the new sync structure had something to do with it. But that is speculation on my part.

  8. Thanks, @Scott T.. The red triangle was only there for less than a minute, though it was a bit alarming. (Probably less so for me, since I drive an older Prius and I get their Red Triangle of Doom all the time for no reason, so I'm used to ignoring it :D.) Hopefully the scaling up mentioned in another thread will eliminate the "Sync temporarily paused" issue too.

Dave-In Decatur, you are naively optimistic. The announcement states that renewing customers will see an increase at the end of May... I hope I am wrong, but am afraid that instead of paying $70 we will see a $130 bill

@Reuven, I will try to remember to report back here in June. My billing date is my billing date; there is no indication that they will reach in for more after it has passed--at least that's how I read it. If my price doesn't go up, will you call me a realistic sage instead? ;)

My Professional subscription renewed today for the same $100 it had been, so evidently having a mid-May renewal date did indeed allow me to avoid the increase for this year, giving me a year to see whether $170 will still seem worth it. Naive optimists of the world, unite!

  10. Anyone else seeing this message (in a gray bar at the top of the screen)?

Syncing temporarily paused. You can continue editing while Evernote reconnects.

I'm getting it occasionally on the Windows desktop program (and maybe the Android app, but I'm not sure). The "reconnection" generally happens in a minute or less, though I've seen longer. I assume it's due to some processing overload as people start using the new sync. But that's only an assumption.

Yeah, I'm trying to find alternatives as well. I wonder what market research they've done that convinced them to make these changes? Most of us probably just want efficiency and not necessarily _more_ features.

To be fair, unless we've done that market research, we don't know what "most of us probably want" either. There is a broad tendency in these forums to assume that one's own preferences are the most common ones, which would be hard to demonstrate, I would think.

Evernote seemed helpful while I used it this year.  But I can't justify paying double for beta AI upgrades and other additional aspirational AI features mentioned by Evernote.  I'm fortunate that I was in my first year and my notes can be transferred in a short period of time.

Thank you Evernote for helping me organize my digital notes this year.  But, I'm leaving.  It's not you, it's me.  Have a great digital life.

Actually, it's not us because we're not Evernote. These are user-to-user forums, barring a couple of recent posts regarding current developments. So you may be leaving, but you aren't leaving us. (Is that a country song?)

For the record, Evernote's new owners point out that the price has not increased since 2016, during which time multiple new features have been introduced. If Evernote seemed helpful, it may well have been due to those new features which were (in a sense) cost-free under the previous pricing structure. So the increase is not so much to fund AI (which will be opt-in anyway) but to catch up with the expense that had gone into previous feature upgrades.

Best wishes on your digital journey.
