  1. Tiny open-source competitors get to choose their feature set from the start. Evernote has a little bit of baggage to sort out before they can add new features...
  2. On a general note - I'm aware that all the apps are getting better by the day, and quite a few people seem to find the new versions an improvement. It's just that for me, getting used to new menu positions and changed - and still occasionally missing - features would mess with my workflow. I'll change to the new versions when I absolutely have to, or when there are so many positive messages I get really jealous!!
  3. A 'forced' update is more to do with the Play Store than Evernote - you'll need to find the settings in your version of Android to turn off automatic downloads of updates for Evernote. https://gizmodo.com/keep-specific-android-apps-from-updating-behind-your-ba-1683748216 (Don't just turn off updates for everything!!) I blocked Evernote updates as soon as v10 came out on desktop, so I still have my original set-up. You'd need to re-download the APK and install it without using the play store, so you need these links... http://cdn1.evernote.com/win6/public/Evernote_6.25.1.9091.exe and https://www.androidauthority.com/how-to-install-apks-31494/ (The install an older version link above is just for desktops) Darnit - I did this last time I posted the link - that's the Windows version, not Android. Bear with me for a minute...!! As you were: try this one!! https://evernote.en.uptodown.com/android/download/2259282
  4. Hi. Simplest way is to uninstall Evernote using the standard Windows 'uninstall' process, then download the older version from here http://cdn1.evernote.com/win6/public/Evernote_6.25.1.9091.exe and double-click the downloaded file. Once installed and logged in, go to Tools > Options and ensure that 'automatically check for updates' is unticked as well as 'launch at Windows login'
  5. Hi. OS? Evernote version? Mobile / desktop / web??
  6. AFAIK the only deactivated accounts here were Basic users, and there could be any number of reasons why the system decided that some 'suspicious' activity (or lack of it) merited deactivating the account. Since the links to Support (and this forum) are public, anyone who has suffered this indignity seems to have a pretty clear route out, and -despite the fact these are non paying users- Evernote has been supportive in getting folks back online. Seems like sensible and reputable behaviour to me - and if you do have "important and often irreplaceable data" I do recommend not saving it into free apps. Bad things can happen if you do...
  7. 🤣 Defend them? Defend them? Evernote are responsible for the most ham-fisted, misjudged and unproductive product "update" of the century, which is still leaking users all over their competitors. I wouldn't wish to 'defend' their actions to anyone - just pointing out that in the grand scheme of things, getting the heading on a welcome email wrong seems like small beer!!
  8. In a different forum I volunteered to be part of the Linux Beta team (haven't heard back yet) so I guess it's getting ready for release...
  9. Hi. Did I miss a memo? Which Evernote version is this part of? And was there a release note about this?
  10. ? Did the app work ? If so, someone obviously set up the acknowledgement messages and forgot to change one variable. Not the worst mistake they've made this year! 😄
  11. Evernote don't usually respond to generic issues raised here. Also - If you don't have a lot of notes, you could raise a ticket or try https://twitter.com/evernotehelps If you're creating a note via Clipper, it is easy to add a reminder - the clip confirmation window (if you don't see one check Clipper > Options) includes an 'alarm' icon. Or creating notes by email, make the title [Title of note] ![optional date for reminder] @[notebook] #[tag] - Save emails into Evernote
  12. Hi. We're a (mainly) user-supported forum. Access to support is here - https://help.evernote.com/hc/requests/new or https://twitter.com/evernotehelps They are (I believe) a little busy right now...
  13. Hi. This is a (mainly) user-supported forum with a ton of traffic since the last update. Plus it's getting into the year-end holiday season, so things tend to drift a little... You already seem to have done the obvious, but I'd suggest checking that you are using the correct user name and password - the usual cause of missing notes is a user inadvertently creating a brand new account (which it's annoyingly easy to do) when logging in. Try the 'lost password' process on the website to verify. Second option would be to uninstall everything and reinstall the last public version of the legacy app. If a standard uninstall / reinstall doesn't work, try using Appcleaner to remove all traces of the new software. If the above fails, you're left with Evernote Support - but the response won't be quick - see: traffic / year end etc. It it's urgent and important you can get some priority by upgrading to Premium - even if only for a month. https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/119867-evernote-for-mac-710/ Support: https://help.evernote.com/hc/requests/new
  14. Moved this thread to join the others on this topic EDIT: OK - perhaps I can't move this thread... but see For more on this...
  15. I have no clue how new releases are scheduled through Google, or on what timescale. Since all versions are now (theoretically) on the same codebase, you could try the process on the web version if you have access to a laptop or desktop....
  16. Hi. Yeah - but those aren't 'choices' - they are what the original note thumbnail ...already showed as being part of the note. You just have checkboxes now too...
  17. Yup. Still on 5.33 for my main account (52K notes). On v10 with a basic account (100 notes)...
  18. Hi. We're a (mainly) user-supported Forum so I'm afraid you're going to have to contact Support (https://help.evernote.com/hc/requests/new) to request a refund. In point of fact the Basic (free) version of Evernote is the 'trial' option which gives you full access to most of the main features of Evernote, and at the current time you've stepped into the middle of a major update where the main app is being updated frequently to bring it back in line with - and eventually overtake - the original software. If you'd like to get back to full functionality while waiting for a response to the above (The Support team are super-busy because of the launch, and it is a year-end and holiday time too...) you could try this link: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052560314-Install-an-older-version-of-Evernote
  19. Hi. Quite a few current Mac apps seem to use Electron... https://www.electronjs.org
  20. Hi. 50 is a temporary limit imposed in the new v10. If you have Legacy installed, the limit doesn't apply to the old app.
  21. Hi. I get that you selected a note with the title 'today'. What you should see in the right-hand window is the full content of that note. Evernote (AFAIK) doesn't have any scheduling features and would not have inserted extra content into the note. If you edit the note to contain only the content that you require, is that possible, and next time you view the note, does it still contain only the items you need?
  22. Hi - we don't know exactly what or when Legacy features will return to v10, but the general plan is that they all should come back as soon as possible. In the meantime, there's Legacy...
