Agreed on this. Actually EN can open the PDF directly by the others software. (Not always workable in EN 10). It can be simple covert the PDF in others software and save it back very easy. The words recognition in EN searching is powerful which instead of selectable text. OCR do not fully 100% accurate, and also very limitation on multi-languages. So this must be very careful if it can modifying the documents in EN.

The sketch of EN was very "Advance" at the time of beginning. But that was long long time ago. EN never upgrade this tool. Comparing the others nowadays, the annotation fonts and marks is very "Ugly" and waste the advantage of phone or pad. Of course it can be much better on desktop. What a waste of an advance function and now become an encumbrance.

Put a "!" or "Z" at the beginning of note's name, when sorting by name, it will become the top of the list. Better than nothing.

Hi Pinkelephant, Thank you very much for your reply. It is very useful. I am not sure if you are staff of EN, but your reply is much better than the CS of EN. Your way is only avoid it. They should fix it, or make a button like old version to rebuild the list. They should pay you to manage the company.🤣 Thanks.

In the last years after EN 10. There is many problems. In every update, we tried to move from legacy to EN 10. However, every test still have problems. And the last update 10.24.3 solved cannot edit or move PDF, but the phantom note after moved or delete come again. These kind of problems repeat AGAIN and AGAIN. When can EN gain our trust to upgrade? What is the quality control system? Please, Please, kindly listen to your users and really fix the problems by looking for the ROOT CAUSE. Evernote is a very good tools, till now for me. But I still using your legacy. Why?

This different btw v10 and legacy was mentioned before. In legacy, just drag & drop to any, saying any app very easy. No matter email, whatsapp, filing, etc. But v10, you can only drag/download it to desktop/download file first, and drag to other place you. It downgraded the productivity. But EN never heard from users, specially old users. They think that they are building up a NEW, POWERFUL program again, and it can absorb much new users and money. The old users? Gone is gone, left must pay. That is their business way, what I am feeling.

Found that in the new EN, if I scan the documents by iOS, it become png, but not PDF. May I know where to set it? I found no where to setting this. In old iOS, it was PDF. That is crazy EN10.

You are right. When open EN, mostly is the time of need to get or write something. Most of them are immediately need. EN should let user do what is needed to do first before update. Should have a choose.

After 10.13.4, I tried to use a month. But, Finally, turn back to legacy again. Why? Because, 1. The PDF edited and save back to EN directly, can only work on WebSite download version, but do not work in the App Store version. 2. The files in the notes cannot drag & drop to others apps, like mail, or even website uploading. But Legacy can. It is very productive if you use EN as a documents center. Drag the attached files directly to the other software to do next. Now can only do it by download to desktop or folder and move again. 3. Cannot drag the note to other notebook directly. 4. Header of the note will move when you drag down the note. It is not good because I make the Header of note reference to something inside the notes. But when I drag down the note, I lost the focus of typing the header. Cannot type by seeing. 5. ⭐️In Legacy, it can reindex the data base of notes. Actually it is needed in the new version. Even the new version saying that everything are online (I don't know what if it can be work offline), but there is always have phantom of notebook and notes. If EN cannot make sure it can be fix, at least let us to re-build the index of notebooks and notes. 6. Where is the preference? Lack of setting made EN very difficult to use. Like the date stamp, new version can only as same as system default. But Legacy can set into format you need. Font & size of EN index, Make it look more comfortable. Set the default attachment in to file or preview, one page or preview of all pages. 7. Moving notebook to Stack by Drag & Drop cannot be do in new version. Even very difficult to move it out from a stack. All of the above seem very minor issues. However, they were slowing down my work seriously. It is too much post in the topic complaining all above. But I do not have enough time to search and follow one by one. And also sure that EN never see this post. Just grumbling here again and again......

It is very hard if you drag to notebook within more than 50 notebooks and layers. And I have more than 100 notebooks within 15 stacks. Productivity: Highest is Hot Key + type in, Second is mouse click button + Type in, lowest is drag & drop.

The update mac version 10.10.5 solved this finally.

The "Move To" notebook button of notes are now hidden and hover when mouse on. It is very poor design and very difficult to click. Please let it "Always Appear", Thanks. And the hot key was very poor because shift or something "cmd+M" was merge notes. It was too easy to merge pressing wrongly in the old version. Finally, it work with mac Preview. After half year of yelling by users!!!!

Personally not agree to have this function. Because I am using EN in China. It will be highly risky to be blocked if EN can be too easy to publish into public, like Notion. It can be export instead of share directly. Poor us, this request is very normal, be our choose is very limited.

Can make EN choose which software to open attachment like the previous versions? this was lost in EN 10

When inputing numbers with Chinese Input Method (mac build in CJ), the thousand sign and dot for dollar and cents will become full character but not half. In previous version, the comma, thousand is full but dot sign can keep in half character. the comma can be input by alt-, but the fullstop must be input by change back to English input it cause very inconvenient. Don't know if it os problem of EN or macOS. but hope it can be choose or auto change to half character when , or . following numbers.

I found that it was the problem of Preview. The pdf can be edit and saved back to EN if I changed the default software to others, and not only pdf but everything edited by Preview cannot be save changed. However, there is no menu to select software as previously version, and there is no better software for me to give Preview up as my default viewer. What can we do?

Hahaha! What the F function they did but not improving the function Lost & Needed by old users. QC or new designs are half only, even the devices number can use for an account. Only the price remains unchanged.

"Open, Edit & Save attachments Directly in Evernote Notes" is one of the most powerful functions of EN. It work perfectly and as importance as drag & drop in most of the software. Understand that this may not be the problem of EN, but Big Sur. However, this was happened in the upgrade of OS X in 2017. Why cannot yet fix after 3 updates nowadays? Obviously there is something wrong in company QA system. And management do not allocated more efforts on importance functional bugs, but an duplicated interface call "Home". the problem is, why I can't chose use it or not? I use EN as an information collector. That mean most of my notes are import to EN from others places. So my using practice is "Imported" everything in a notebook named "Collection", and every time go into EN it will be my first stop, and start my annotation, edit, processing and sort into different notebooks. So, why I need another Home Page? Of course, I never say it is not good. And sure that many users are very glad of this. But, may I have a choose? And also fix those bugs and functions failure before somethings too fancy? After ready the post in forum, what most of the users asking is, "bring our Evernote back, don't force us to change, even our using practices or software". Actually, we are still here because we don't want to change to new software. So do not make EN into a Brand New software that we don't know. Please.

I don't think OCR is necessary in EN personally. Because it already have a very powerful search function. It can search context within the PDF including images based and even handwriting. Suggested to install some independent OCR app will be much powerful and easier to do this.

Dear Mr. Ian Samll, I would like to say thank you to Evernote, and Mr. Stephan Pachikov. Evernote saved my works and company in 2020. I am running a small family business in Hong Kong and our factory in China since 1994. And I started using evernote since 2008. The mainly function of Evernote for me is mainly a "Document Storage System". In my memory, terms of "clouds" was not popular at that time. But EN was the first one giving me this mobility when I running between Hong Kong and China. EN let me no longer traveling with my heavy notebook. In the meantime, I tried Chinese version EN (YinXiang) and EN Team. But for the reasons of xxxxxxx, I only keep my paid international version after all. The mostly loved of Evernote was, the sacnsanp. Hahah! many people start laughing at me now. But for me, using EN as a document storage, I need to scan, upload, save tens of documents in Evernotes everyday, including office records, technical documents, points founding, communication records, todo, planning, excels, words, etc. It really work very good to one press scan to EN (at least at that time). And I can get all my records everywhere, in China factory, Hong Kong or even on the way traveling and meeting with customers. And clipping everything what I saw by computers, phone, pad when I am working, traveling, or even on bed. In 2020, I am pinned in Hong Kong because of family need and cannot stay in China without coming back (for 14 days quarantine in each location is needed, and costs of quarantine). Actually, the border "blocking" came much faster than imagined. And luckily all my working materials are on Evernote. It keeps my working at least 80% same as before. (Of course, factory running depends on my helpful colleagues in China and others "clouds"). I recommending Evernote to many friends and telling them my experiences when they asking me how to running my businesses in this situation. And telling them how importance of "clouds", which Evernote giving me this concept. In my memory, earlier than google documents, and not workin in China. Here I want you to know, how Evernote is important to me, and why I am in love with Evernote. But, why a couple would become "HATE" each others and divorced? It is what my feeling now after yelling for 3 months, posted many posts of complaining. Please kindly solve the problems, not the 0/1 in programming.
