  1. Past hour
  2. I don’t see any relevance when YOUR Google searches show up in YOUR EN account. It stays „in the family“ of YOUR services. It would be something else if MY Google searches would show up in YOUR account. But since I don’t use Google for search (and try to avoid it elsewhere as well) the chances for this to happen are practically zero. Which lets me sleep sweet and tight, thank you.
  3. Know what ? EN just got rid of a ton of outdated server code. If it was a security nightmare, if nobody was left to maintain it or if the chief admin had a bet running he can pull the plug after 3 bottles of Chianti without breaking something else is not relevant. They hit the „delete“ key, and that’s it. Thanks for your script - hopefully it helps other restless souls to get moving.
  4. That is for sure new, but this happens as i saw when you have Similar suggestions included with Evernote in Google search Then you see also some of the things you searched in Google search in evernote search.
  5. Check in your Web Clipper settings a position called „Relevant Hits“ or similar.
  6. Evernote 6.1.2 was a perfect product for my use case. A fine wine that I've been drinking and enjoying more and more with every passing year. And I have to believe there are thousands of people like me who are unwilling or unable to sync their data to the cloud for corporate security reasons. In a lot of ways we're the ideal customer for Evernote - I'd pay $100 annually to keep using the time-capsuled note taking app and almost 100% of that would be clean Evernote profit. The talk of security risk is nonesense... my notes were effectively "firewalled" with the way I used Evernote. The attack plane and honeypot that is Evernote's server's is a far greater security risk for those who use Evernote today than my local note-taking ever has been over the last 11 years. I know Legacy isn't coming back. This post is my tombstone to it. Let me grieve. To any who find themselves in my situation (on Windows) you can actually salvage your notes - cleanly and quickly without silly arbitrary v10 limitations - doing the following: Create a file on your desktop named "backup_evernote.ps1" Open the file in notepad or equivalent and paste: # Simple Evernote backup PowerShell Script # # Backs up all notebooks in your account as .enex files, located in a designated # directory. The backup directory name is generated by a base name with the # current date (mm-dd-yy) appended. # # Todo: # * Specify backup directory base via command-line # * Backup single notebook specified via command-line # * Restore notebook # You may need to modify this according to the location of ENScript.exe $ENscript = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote\ENScript.exe" # Modify backup directory base as desired $BackupLocation = "C:\Users\Artemis\Downloads\backups" # Write out notebook names to a temporary file, one line at a time $tempfile = "notebooks.txt" & $ENscript listNotebooks >$tempfile $reader = [System.IO.File]::OpenText($tempfile) # Create a backup directory for this date # Get current date (mm-dd-yy) and append it to the backup directory base $date = get-date -uformat "%m-%d-%y" $BackupDir = $BackupLocation + "Backup " + $date # Make the actual backup directory if ( ! (Test-Path $BackupDir) ) { md $BackupDir } # Process notebook names try { for( ; ; ) { # fetch a notebook name $name = $reader.ReadLine() if ($name -eq $null) { break } # write out the backup file for this notebook: <notebook name>.enex "Backing up " + $name + "..." $BackupFileName = $BackupDir + "\" + $name + ".enex" & $ENscript exportNotes /q "notebook: $name" /f $BackupFileName } # Show your work dir $BackupDir } finally { $reader.Close() } # delete the temp file remove-item $tempfile read over the above powershell script to gut check I'm not pulling a fast one on ya. When run, what this script will do is use Evernote's old ENScript.exe executable to export your notebooks as .ENEX files. The ENScript.exe is actually what Evernote Legacy uses to perform exports but doesn't require being logged into Evernote to use... Aint that nice!? So definitely adjust the directory locations that resolve to $ENscript and $BackupLocation to match where the ENScript.exe is on your computer (as well as which folder you want to backup to). Finally, to run the script, right click on the icon and click "Run with Powershell"... you may have to do so as an administrator. Joplin does seem to be the number one choice of Evernote refugees... But we all know it ain't no Evernote Legacy. Rest in Peace my beauty.
  7. Want more folders ? Because a notebook is nothing but a folder. Use the OS of your computer, it can breed as many folders as you ever want. The organization of EN is exactly NOT to copy this already existing structure. The main organizational tool (if you want to hear it or not) are tags, not notebooks. Asking an app that is build around tags that you need (NEED - and you don’t want to hear anything else - LOL) is nonsensical. You want folders, choose a tool that builds around folders. Simple as that. You can always send your urgent desire and wish at the feedback-address already provided.
  8. Mostly we are only other users here. It is best to send your thoughts to feedback@evernote.com.
  9. I typically do a weekly sync and then a monthly backup. No updating or even viewing the old notes. I have recreated a new database and am slowing syncing and fixing the errors it has found. I did notice a while back that the number of notes it was syncing each week seemed excessive. I didn't have time to look into it then and since I automate this, I forgot about it. I should have looked into it then, but I'll continue to work through the notes it is flagging and get back to normal. Mostly I'm just deleting the notes it is flagging so I'm getting a little database clean up.
  10. Today
  11. Uh, okay. I just opened chrome on a second computer (not connected to the first by a shared network) to see what is written about specialized anti-keyloggers and here in the web version of Evernote my google searches showed up. Preliminarily showing a message that Evernote has been updated to the latest version. I'm trying to be objective.
  12. I don't have any issues in my backup logs or when doing another backup just a minute ago. I do a sync between evernote_backup and Evernote and then an export. The sync takes very little time. In your case, have you done anything to cause the old notes to be updated (including just looking at them) that would cause your backup to see them as changed content, or are you doing a whole new database each time?
  13. This is known about and I think they're looking to push a fix quickly.
  14. I get this, too. When I try to move a shortcut in the list by dragging and dropping it, the note remains in the same place, and there's a message saying the note was added to Shortcuts.
  15. @MvdH How do I access this feature? I have no knowledge or evidence with it.
  16. Yes, you can tweak my saved search to show all notes with reminders. Also those not past due time. Yes saved searches is part of a feature for iOS Evernote the same as desktop windows and Android. As far as I know.
  17. I would suggest scanning your machine for malware that could be intercepting your keystrokes. Evernote doesn't do this.
  18. @MvdH Might there be a way to make a search for notes with reminders that aren’t past due yet? (…also is saved searches a feature in iOS Evernote to begin with…?)
  19. I hope so. It's still weird. The same google queries are displayed in both the web version and the Android app it's a good time for cospiracy.)
  20. +1.However... I use reminders on notes a lot, in a way that my custom saved search only shows reminders that are past due time. If they measure me using the reminders tab... ...then it results to using it NEVER. Using reminders and a custom savedbsearch for those past due I use it 10 times a day..
  21. Hi, I'm a heavy Evernote user and find it frustrating that there's a hard limit on 1,000 max Notebooks. Is there anything to suggest that this will ever be increased? Or how about making it an a la carte add on purchase? I have very legit reasons for why I want more notebooks so please do not provide suggestions about how to change my note organization with tags etc. I also am aware that I could sign up for a Teams account to get 10,000 Notebooks but I am a single user and am not justing paying a 100% premium for that service.
  22. Then it's likely user error. Searching for something in your browser is not going to show up in your Evernote search history without something else going on. It simply does not work that way.
  23. I've been thinking about it. But I have almost no software, I don't download anything from the net, I don't put extensions on chrome. And I'm generally careful about data security. Searching for bugs didn't turn up anything. And this whole thing literally just started with the latest Evernote update.
  24. Same and agreed. If I want to separate a paragraph or a chunk of text, I'll hit enter twice. If I'm writing a list, taking notes, or otherwise want several lines together, I'll hit enter once. Now, I don't have that choice, and I note it appears to be the same in this forum comment as well. If I keep typing long enough to make a paragraph, it will wrap the text to keep this second line tight to the line above it, but if I hit return, it will automatically space it like a paragraph. I don't mind EN adding new features, but it's frustrating when they make these additions and don't give us any control over them.
  25. Lol it doesn't. Maybe there is a keylogger on your machine.
  26. funny I just typed "evernote forum" into google to post a message to the community about weird notepad behavior, and the search engine immediately showed my query among recent Evernote searches. wtf?
