Evernote Web Not Working

Recommended Posts

Posted

I've tried logging on to Evernote web on Chrome for the last couple of days. I clear my cookies every day. I've tried rebooting multiple times. I emptied the trash through my phone app. I only have Evernote on 2 devices. I'm not sure if this is a glitch on Evernote's end or if there's something I need to do differently. Any advice/insight?

Hi. Have  you tried different browsers for the web version?  If you already have an Evernote installation on your desktop,  try uninstalling that,  restarting and then reinstalling from Evernote.com.  Are you a Free user?  Have you disconnected any other devices?

I'm getting the exact same infuriating message: "Sorry, we’re having some trouble loading Evernote Web. Try reloading the page."

HELP!

Are you on the free plan ?

How many devices are synced with the account ? 2 of them ? Then you can’t connect another. This includes the web client.

And just in case these are the correct assumptions: It is not infuriating, it is the limits set to use EN for free:

I have the same problem. And I have previous Pro plan (now Personal). So number of devices shouldn't be a problem.

Any security extensions ?

Adblockers, antivirus, stuff like that. There were reports about WOT Web of Trust causing problems.

Tried another browser yet ?

If on any Chrome-based browser (most are), try Firefox. If on a Mac, Safari. These browsers use their own „engine“.

Ah, yes. It's working on Firefox. I normally use Edge (Chrome based).

OK, good first step.

Then it is probably an extension or a setting in Edge that stops the web xxxxxxx client to load.

It probably is try and error from here, at least I have no clear picture from the forum what works. You could check the popup blocker.

@PinkElephant: Dude are you slow or something? How many people need to tell you that the stupid site doesn't work on Firefox?

IT DOESN'T WORK! Throws an error just like people are saying. It works on Chrome but not on Firefox.

Stop trying to find the problem in people's machines! IT IS EVERNOTE's problem not ours!

What browser version are you all using? It's possible Evernote uses functions only supported in the latest browser versions. There was a case about 6 months ago where an LTR version of Firefox stopped working because Evernote used a javascript function not supported in older versions of Firefox. I'm using Firefox 78.13 at the moment, which is some way from the newest version (the current version is 91) and Evernote works for me, but that may be due to some Red Hat magic.

Strange that the desktop installer crashes. I don't use a desktop version of Evernote, so i can't help you there 😕

The desktop installer usually is stable. It may be there is a residue left from a prior install.

It is always good to use a tool like Revo Uninstaller / PC or AppCleaner / Mac to make sure the uninstall removes everything.

There are threads in the forum that list the files that need to be removed to allow for a clean reinstall.

It's web version on Chrome browsers. And it doesn't crash. It just doesn't load.

Hi.  Maybe try de-authorising all devices and start over?

I tried with revoking access but I still can't get  web version to work. The only solution is going to evernote profile, Account Summary, Evernote Web and change it to Go back to Classic version. That work. But you know how it's that version with tables. Can't add rows or columns ...

This is odd 😕 I don't think i've ever had problems with Evernote Web on chrome.

Have you tried deleting all site information on chrome? (not just cookies but the indexedDB tables,  session storage and local storage?

In case it helps.... I can get the web working fine on FF, Chrome/Edge/Vivaldi which are all based on Chrome.

Try logging in via a private window with no extensions or create a guest browser profile and try that, again without any extensions.

Also try disabling any browser ad/tracker blockers as I've found these interfere with some websites.

Hm. How do you do that? I've changed user. I tried on FF and Edge. Same

If you open the developer tools (right-click and "Inspect" or whatever it is in English), then you can go to the tab marked Application. There you can delete Local Storage, Session Storage, IndexedDB and Cookies for the site.

Thank you! It helped going into private window!

That probably means that you have an extension conflict. Disable all extensions you have installed and check if the browser version of EN is now working. If it is then re-add them one at a time until you identify which one is conflciting.  Then you have the option to remove that extension/stop using EN in the browser/raise the issue with the extension author.
