  1. Because I hope every update will fix my long standing problem with the Tasks pane, I check my version every day, and of course after the forced updates.  The last week or so, I can swear I have see three different versions installed - in reverse order!

    I installed Evernote, downloading from the website a week or so ago.  I can not be sure what version it was.  

    A few days later, I saw a popup saying something about version 10.80.? (I do not remember the last value)  and there was a forced update.  I was busy with something else, and went to look back later at the message, but the version was, I believe 67.4.   Then I go another update, and it was the same version.  Today I got another and it is version 67.3.  

    I have no proof of this, but I am quite sure about the 67.4, because I saw it a couple of times... and I am 100% sure its 67.3 right now...  the 80.? could have been another app, with a similar numbering style... but I believe not.

    In anycase, what is the newest official version, just so I have a new base point.

    Mine, where the Tasks pane does not work on (now all) my windows pc has been 'being worked on" for more than 4 months, without an substantial or meaningful communications (including sending an email a few weeks ago as if I had just submitted the problem... sigh). I had upgraded to Pro a few months before that. 

  3. I should add:

    1. The Tasks pane also does not work in private view anymore (at least in Edge)

    2.  This also started after the last release of Evernote... which seems a more likely cause than my using Evernote for the first time on a New PC.

    I am currently deleting all my tasks, also in complete and in the Trash, and I will empty my trash (for the first time in 12 years!) to see that work.

    ** The next step would maybe be to somehow export my entire database, and import it again... hoping that cleans it up.  I would not want to loose my folders or task... would this be easy to do, or does anyone have another suggestion what I might try?  **

    Why would they have implemented this restriction I wonder? 

    I always assumed (and stuck with Evernote, and do not use Notion, etc) because I figured the standard installation would provide me access to my data in all cases - signed in or not.  It was my way of being sure I did not ever lose access to my data if the cloud version was ever destroyed or compromised  (I do back up the database to a separate local server too) or I stopped my subscription to Evernote and wanted access to it for a while after migrating.

    How do I meet this need these days - eg if I have signed out (eg for security reasons) using the 'keep back-up'  - and later the Evernote cloud or internet in general was not available?   How would I still get to my data via the core functionality of Evernote?   Or have we all become too dependent on the internet/cloud?

  5. @Schiffers Have you reported this to Evernote via their request too?  It helps a lot if they see more than one case.  And like you, its a problem only on my professional laptop, not my personal one.

    @PinkElephant Just for background, I have actually gone as far as to completely reformat my HD, resintall windows and then evernote next, just to be sure it was not leftovers, or another app causing the problem.

    @gazumped They are aware, just not doing anything about it....

    And, to add insult to injury, the last email I got from Evernote support was the same one you get when you first present an request for support - eg check this community, etc - as if the problem had not been open for 4 months now....

  6. @agsteele @gazumped I remind you, its not only in Firefox... its also the app in Windows.  And I have the same problem in Chrome.

    Also, my updates to Evernote are never just ´have you solved it´, I have always provided more information into what I have tested to solve the issue...

    I will add, never, since the WWW started, or since Windows was launched, have I had so little personal interaction with the support team of the many applications or services I have paid to use...regardless of whether my issue was unique or not...

     

  7. My main wish is that Evernote would provide me with at least the respect of addressing my problem by interacting with me in a constructive way.

    1. I am a paying pro client
    2. I reported the issue more than 3 months ago, including logs, that showed some errors
    3. I have provided extra input as I tried out various solutions
    4. I have privately message @Federico Simionato

    The only response I get is ´we are working on it´  and the last time, via support, a rather rude ´don´t call us we will call you´ kind of message, implying I should stop bothering them.

    I have been forced to return to my old task management tool and try to efficiently link the two together.  I returned to Evernote, in part because Tasks seemed just good enough to manage my line of work inside Evernote, and I loved the idea of having everything in only one place.  Now that benefit is gone... alas, I still have ot stick with it because they have a great clipper (even if it does not clip Bing.com responses), and good search capabilities.

    So, I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. but mainly am upset by Evernote's lack of serious attention and support for a paying customer. 

    Shame on Evernote.

     

  8. @agsteele  Thanks for replying.  Alas, I have done all you suggest, and I have even worked from a clean install of Windows, Evernote, and Firefox - all with no success.  I have also tried changing every possible bio-setting.  I can only image its some kind of security issue between my graphics hardware/drivers and some esoteric aspect of permissions to access Windows/java/whatever services...

  9. @gazumped  How are you using Bing - eg how do you access it?

    I am also using Windows, and have tried both Edge and Firefox, with the bing.com page, and with neither can I do multi-select of the specific answer - just the whole page, and even then, the one time I tried, I only got a link to the page, which did not include the results....  Both ´Article´ options show no preview of the results, so I do not know what will happen.

    Yes, I can use the copy option, but that is a lot of extra work .... I use Evernote in part because of the ease of use of the wonderful clipper!

  10. Wow, amazing, on two fronts. 

    1. Indeed, with my Firefox browser, in private mode, I can use Tasks.  When I am not in private mode, I can not.  So this is some kind of permissions/security issue....

    2. Almost 3 months later, and Evernote has not deemed to help me, or even contact me.  When I sent them my last reminder, with an update of what I tried in the last month, they basically told me ´Don't call us, we will call you´.  I know they had some serious issues for a while, but those are largely past, so I wish they would start giving more attention to paying customers with real problems...
