It was actually mentioned in the release notes of 10.29:
- State restoration - within the same day, the app will now resume where you left off after backgrounding it

This shows that the display of 3 columns is also possible on a small screen. However, this requires that one is always logged in to the browser (no solution for me)
I am not sure how this is relevant to the layout of the Evernote app on the iPad. The web version shows that it is possible, so it should be implemented in the app as well.

OK, that is the large iPad. Frankly on a smaller one like my 10.5 Pro there is simply not enough space tho have 3 columns AND be able to work in the rightmost one. There is makes perfectly sense to close the middle column.
There is already an implementation with up to three columns that works with small screens/windows and large ones as well: The web version and the desktop version of Evernote. Both versions need to work in all sizes of windows and they do. You can even use the web version on the iPad Pro 12.9" and it adjusts perfectly to the screen. And BTW you can set the column on the left side to a thin one with just icons, which I have in the desktop and web version. This way it should also be great with three columns on a smaller iPad in landscape mode.

Same thing here. Also most recent update to 10.36 which I grabbed from the App Store yesterday did not fix it either.
The App Store build was not fixed as we discussed before, but she is saying that for her the direct download build has the problem as well. THIS is very strange, because it never had the problem before.
-
They have released 10.36 and ... the gear icon is still missing in the App Store build. I had installed the direct download build of 10.35 to get the new settings button and wanted to see if they fixed it in 10.36 of the App Store build. So I uninstalled the direct download build and installed the App Store build and I couldn't believe they still haven't fixed it.

It is not the AppStore „version“ that would be broken (because AFAIK it is exactly the same code). It is the way it runs on the Macs that creates the problems. Every app from the AppStore runs under a tighter control than a free install.
Don‘t know if it had to do with the Electron framework - but we had similar issues already with the 7.xx clients. I think it has more to do with Apple locking the OS down more and more.
EN should find out, and find a way to have both installs running without a mess like this.
Until then I stay with the direct install.
Just look in the release notes of Version 10.34:
Fixed highlights:
- Mac App Store builds showed Evernote missing as a Share Extension option
So obviously the Mac App Store builds are different. Evernote needs to test these builds as well. Currently they don't and that's why there are things not working in these builds. I think this time it is especially embarrassing as the main new functionality of the release does not exist in the released build.

It is futile to discuss whether it does not exist from the source, or it is not allowed to execute inside of a sandbox.
Time for a support ticket, and let EN check this out, I would say. This is where I am out - because the gear wheel showed for me without any action needed right after installing and opening the direct download.
I don't see any use of a support ticket. Evernote already said in this thread that they investigate the issue. But it is a bit puzzling that they did not release a corrected release to the App Store immediately. At least that should be the normal way to go as soon as they were aware of their embarrassing mistake.
BTW, you could de-install your not-app-store-version and install the regular app-store-version. I ensure you and would hold any bet that there will be no gear icon for you as well. Try it and you will see.

Boot17 has already posted above what is displayed in the App Store version. Of course it looks like this for me as well. Again: The gear symbol does not exist in the App Store version, for no one!

Hold down the alt/opt key before opening the HELP menu. Trara ! A new menu item appears, „Troubleshooting“ (Problemlösung). There you find all the juicy stuff, not only Reload (cmd-R).
Yes, the entry is then available, but no, of course this does not bring the gear icon. It does just not exist in the App Store version.

What did help other users was to open the EN Home Screen and go to edit a widget. After closing the editing and going back to the standard view from Home, the settings wheel had appeared.
No, this does NOT help at all. There is no way at all to get the gear symbol in the App Store version of Evernote. They must have messed up the upload to the App Store.

@Happy ChapThanks for this report, we're looking into it now. In the meantime, please try these steps to fix this:
- Go to File > Sign Out from the menu bar.
- Select the "Remove my Evernote data from this device" option, then click Sign out.
- Sign back in to Evernote.
Please let us know if the issue continues after completing these steps.
No, this does NOT fix the missing gear symbol! It just does not exist in the App Store version of Evernote. You probably messed up the upload of the new version to the App Store.

I'm wondering if going to…
Help > Troubleshooting > Reload (or Force Reload)
…would have the same effect?
There is no such menu entry at all in my macOS version. So no, this does not help.

Personally I prefer JustPressRecord. It does not save directly into EN - but it offers audio transcript.
So instead of getting only an audio file, I get a typed text. There is an option to share both audio and text file.
FastEver does not record audio. As I said, it is just for text. Opening FastEver brings up immediately the standard text input of the Apple Watch - Scribble, dictating or the new keyboard (Series 7).
-
I think the important sentence on the help page is:
- Audio recorded on the new Evernote for Mac or Windows will not play back on the new Evernote for iOS at this time.
I think THAT is really bad. They should change that asap.

Looks a good app, but their privacy policy is a bit loose/cut and paste looking.
I'd like to see more information on what permissions to write and more importantly read evernote contents are.
It does not read Evernote notes at all. The app is just able to create notes, not reading or displaying notes.

At this stage I'd be happy with a shortcut which lets me dictate a short note to my Evernote inbox before I forget.
As I said, you can do this with the app FastEver. Works perfectly.

Hmmm, there is some split in function in reality though. The new version on Android has widgets but iOS doesn't. Also, they did have it on their roadmap at the beginning of v10. When I've asked them, they say they have it still on that roadmap.
They do? That is interesting, I have never seen anything officially about the Apple Watch app since 2020. They removed all mentioning of it in all statements.

I have this too on the iPad Pro, not on the iPhone. It is about the lower "frame" on the home screen, the bar with the "burger menu", the green "new note" button and the search button. This bar just disappears, often after switching apps. The only way to bring it back is to re-start the app. I have not had this issue since 10.30.1, so maybe it is fixed. But we are still waiting for the release notes of 10.30 and 10.30.1.

On the surface, it seems like this would be a straightforward update, although the developers would probably need to either make a decision about which image type to select (PNG/JPG) or add a new setting for the user to choose as the default.
As I said above, the mechanism of iOS/iPadOS is pretty clear: In the clipboard could be stacks with many file format versions of the same content. The target app automatically states its preference of these formats and gets the one fitting. E. g. if I mark this sentence of my posting in Safari and copy it, there will be a stack with five(!) different files in the clipboard: RTFD (flat), RTFD, Text, RTF and HTML. But if I paste it in Evernote, it can handle it and the result will be just the sentence as text without multiple copies. So Evernote is already able to process the iOS/iPadOS clipboard - just not for screenshots that come as PNG-JPEG-stack.

Actually they introduced quite a lot keyboard shortcuts for the iPadOS version in the last few updates. Still far from the current state of the macOS version, but a step in the right direction nevertheless. At least in editing mode the available shortcuts are mostly the same as in macOS (to see them just hold the Command key like in all iPadOS apps). But note handling like moving a note is definitely a blind spot in the list.
I share the general thought that the iPadOS version should be more like the macOS version and not like the iOS version. But I think the decision to cancel a separate (and therefore optimized) iPadOS version was made with v10 and they will not revise it. We can only hope that they introduce at least a few more tablet oriented optimizations in the mobile version like they did with the home screen recently.

3 circles appear, and the picture is pasted 3 times. The source of the screenshot must not be Safari, can be any screen.
It is interesting to use Yoink to analyze the clipboard after copying a screenshot. There you can see that copying a screenshot in iOS actually puts two files of the screenshot in the clipboard: A PNG version and a JPEG version. When pasting such a stack of files the target app should decide which format it prefers and then it will get just that format. Somehow the Evernote app can not deal with this mechanism and seems to get confused by it.

You can do it this way: Go to the Notes view (in left pane) and set a filter to the tag. Now the list of notes with this tag should be in the left pane.

I think this is due to the fact that both mobile operating systems use a sandboxing to make the devices more secure. iOS probably applies it in a stricter way, but Android is doing something similar. Probably this prevents app links to be created on mobile.
To get a better picture you can ask support.
No, there is no obvious reason. App links are just links starting with evernote:// and they work perfectly in the iOS and iPadOS version (if used). Again it is just one of the many examples of functionalities they "forgot" in the mobile version for no reason.
Yesterday Evernote promoted on their Twitter account the possibility to use internal links for creating tables of contents. I replied: "The problem is: Internal links that were created on an iPad are always web links (there is no way to create app links). As a result these links when used on a Mac will always leave Evernote and open a web browser. Not very useful for a table of contents." The Evernote Helps Twitter account answered: "I can confirm that this is a limitation we are aware of, and our development team hopes to make improvements in the future."

As I understood the message that pops up there is something missing in Safari to enable multiple tabs. It does not look like EN blocking anything, it looks as if some resource is called, does not exist, and that stops the process.
The message comes obviously from Evernote and not from Safari. Therefore they failed to implement it on Safari and block this functionality. Maybe it is lazy programming or there was actually a good reason in the past. But I am pretty sure it would work with the current version of Safari if they would just unblock it.
You can actually unblock it yourself by using the developer menu in Safari and changing the browser id to Chrome. After that everything works perfectly with more Evernote windows.

Calendar widget sync time
in Evernote for iOS Issues (Versions 10.0 and above)
Posted
If the calendar widget is part of my Evernote home screen the sync (blue pulsating line at the top of the screen) when starting Evernote will take very long (5-15 minutes). This is especially problematic as the Scratch Pad will not work in this time. Without the calendar widget there is no delay at all. Is the very, very long sync time related to the number of calendar entries in the Google Calendar?
