  1. This is a -mainly- user-supported Forum. As users, we can offer information and suggestions from our collective experience. As we gift our time to try and help, it is considered polite not to waste it by generating more work than necessary. ...And it's not the only thing I'm worried about - I can multi-task.
  2. To have only 25 votes in 5 years suggests the cost of adding the new feature(s) would not be met by the additional subscriptions generated. I'd say voting is working fine.
  3. Every established company has the drawback that a new player can come up with new features that it includes on launch from zero users. The older company with a few hundred million existing users (in this case) all of whom have their own ideas on what new features should be a priority, can't just magic the new options overnight. As it happens Evernote has an ongoing upgrade - a process of completely re-coding all of their apps for all operating systems (See the Evernote Blog for details). I tried Roam and liked the Wiki-like linking process, but while it may suit some, it didn't suit me. So I'm 100% Evernote (plus Filterize / Backupery / Postach.io and Typora...
  4. Hi. So did reinstalling the app mean that you can now log in? If you want to try the browser route again I'd suggest clearing your browser cookies and history although beware that you'll have to log in to all your websites again, and may have to re-save some preferences. Alternatively try a different browser...
  5. Hi. I moved your post here, since there are already 3 pages of discussion about this. - Oh, and there's more here too...
  6. Sounds very likely - could you select the middle panel text and use 'clip selection' (or copy & paste)?
  7. Hi. Can we have a screen shot of the original layout? Also: what OS / browser / Evernote version?
  8. Hi. Broadly speaking I believe Evernote features have parity across all devices, though obviously depending on screen size and touchability, the access and menu system may be different. The only feature I am aware of that's different is that iOS has Scannable as a separate app, though both iOS and Android versions have quite capable built-in camera scans. That said, I'm an Android, not iOS user; so wait for some more opinions! https://evernote.com/products/scannable
  9. Hi. Logic would be wrong, given that Evernote have no idea how Notion is trying to access the database and no responsibility for maintaining anything outside the published API. I'd suggest talking to Notion support.
  10. Sadly (AFAIK) you need a desktop app - therefore Windows or Mac - to bulk delete. Also beware that your 'duplicates' may be subtly different version of the note - you may be losing history if you find a way to bulk nuke them. I'd suggest contacting Support to see if they can offer any options...
  11. Your issue is not related to this thread - please post again as a new item.
  12. I totally agree with your general point - the links process should be much better; that particular option though? Seems to me it would eat up your processing power and/ or bandwidth in the web version and be incredibly annoying to many users... still there are changes (allegedly) coming...
  13. OK - I'm not an Apple user so these may be dumb questions, but why do you need an Ipad input to a Mac note? Both devices can run an Evernote app, and all changes made on either device will sync back to the server copy of that note without worrying about any linkage between them. But. Syncing is not immediate. You could make a change on the Mac and then add some detail on the tablet - both of which get synced back to the server independently. You're logged in twice and the server has no way to determine precedence. You might lose one of the changes or wind up with two notes. Best to use one device at a time and sync that device before and after making any changes - then go on to the other device for post-processing...
  14. Yeah - about what I was expecting! Hope there are some results available soon from all this beta testing that's going on...
  15. Hi. This is a -mainly- user-supported Forum. As users, we can offer information and suggestions from our collective experience if we have any. If you need help on a technical issue Evernote support is available on Twitter @EvernoteHelps or via the Facebook Community.
  16. Yup. No change at all though - I still fiddle with Filterize settings through the web page, and see the changes in Evernote Web. (Wonder if that wonderful Evernote for Linux is going to make an entrance anytime soon!!!)
  17. You're now quoting me from 3 years ago. I'm now using Markdown (Typora.io) which generates these neat little document files I can attach to my notes and open in Linux and Windows to edit. If I need to feed the search index I just copy and paste the raw text...
  18. Hi. Maybe create a new temporary notebook to assign as default so you can at least delete the unwanted notes? Being unable to see a notebook is a whole other problem...
  19. Hi. Search terms often appear several times in PDFs and depending on which version of Evernote you're using you may see lines in the scroll bar indicating where they appear, or you could use 'search within note' to jump from one occurrence to another. Sometimes highlights in images are out of place, but since they're limited to one page it's usually much easier to find the correct hit even if the highlight is out of line.
  20. Hi @lisec. Have to stress I have no inside knowledge and I'm not currently using the 'purge' process because my dumber laptop got converted to Linux; but I did run it quite happily when both laptops ran Windows. One had the full 20GB database (which I regard as essential for local backup reasons) and the other had less than 100MB. It did take longer to open notes if I hadn't viewed them on laptop #2 recently but the main database - which is kept on the server - remains the same. Nothing is deleted. That should mean that your internal links won't be affected, but I have no experience there. If you restored the database from the server you'd expect the links still to be in place, so I'd have a lot of confidence that you'd be OK.. but they're not my links... Again the shared situation - your laptop and the others that share a notebook all have access to the server copy of the database. You could see a note if you wanted to - I'd expect the other accounts can too. And - different trigger options? You'd have to ask Support; you know the usual mantra "Evernote don't normally comment..." Let us know how you get on!!
  21. I'm confused. I saw this query before somewhere recently and it had already been answered... How are you selecting the text to paste? Is this a standard Windows copy/ paste scenario, or are you using the Google email clipper, or Evernote's web clipper? It's good practice to have a record of the source of a quoted or copied item and Evernote routinely add the source URL to each note created. Several copy/ pastes will overwrite the URL with the latest source (if there are different sources). I believe the Evernote Clipper Screenshot option will not add a URL - especially if you copy to desktop, then re-copy and paste to a note. It's never been more true that "this is a feature, not a bug!" It's good practice to know where the data was sourced - not least in case a user needs to go back and check the current situation; and the URL just sits in the top right corner in case you need to use it. Would it be possible just to ignore it so that you can take advantage of all the other many and various ways to copy or clip content into Evernote? How to add content in Evernote for Windows
  22. "Badly coded" implies the app claims to do something which it is incapable of, or does very badly. Evernote has never offered word processing, just simple note-taking - which it does quite well. I just completed one task that had me using a spreadsheet and a word processor because I wanted the sorting and printing flexibility of both. Then I embedded the spreadsheet in my note so the information is there next time I need it. On the same basis I've used Lightroom to edit an image that I embedded in a Word document because Lightroom has far better image editing facilities. I use the specialised tools which suit my task - usually with a the file attached in Evernote.
