Date shortcut - format changed
Eduardo Estefano replied to JimPf's question in Evernote for Mac Requests (Versions 10.0 and above)
I used the date shortcut all the time. Too bad they decided to make it unusuable in this latest version. Who uses long date format for notes anyway. -

In the old version, EN would create an encrypted container. You would click on it and EN would show the contents and allow you to edit it. And then that was it. There was no need to do anything. You could copy text from other places and paste it into the encryption box. At one time, before the new tables, you could even encrypt the tables. If you opened the note on a browser, you would never see the contents unencrypted. You would be editing the content inside the encryption box and even if the note synced, the contents would show as encrypted in the web. Besides being much easier to work with encryption, there was no chance of synchronization of the content unencrypted as there is now.

I hope this slowness will get better soon. I assume employees at Evernote also use Evernote for their daily processes. They must be suffering the same. Unless they have a special version that you can disable auto sync. I found out that EN gets slower and slower the more you use it, especially after working with attachments/pictures. You need to restart the app after a few open/close of notes and attachments.

Get early access to Tasks
Eduardo Estefano replied to Shane D.'s question in [Closed] Tasks Early Access
I agree. I frequently use tables and sometimes we need to add a follow-up task or a Todo on a table item. This was the only thing I missed so far. -
Get early access to Tasks
Eduardo Estefano replied to Shane D.'s question in [Closed] Tasks Early Access
Yes. Tasks was a breakthrough in my workflow as well. We had a cumbersome process for letting people know they had things to do in notes, using tags for a person, filters, and an automation in slack + zappier. now we can throw all this away. Tasks just simplified this process by a lot. -
No. I was hoping for a quicker solution in the forum. they need to improve file handling. For me at least the ability to mix attachments with comments is the most important feature. files alone in the computer suck. Notes alone that reference files somewhere sick. Both together in the same place is magic. Now with tasks built into notes, it is just fantastic.

I noticed that sometimes Evernote will duplicate a note when you are dealing with attachments. I am going through a list of notes and editing layout and sometimes editing the Excel/word attachments inside these notes. frequently, Evernote will “erase” the changes and show you the old note back. So you go and continue the changes in the note. After a while you will notice that you have a duplicate. I think this is something related to the speed that Evernote takes to handle attachments (it takes a long time, up to 10 seconds). While it is working on updating the attachment, it sincs and returns the old note for you. By the time EN finishes working on the other process, the attachment, you get a duplicate note.

Yeah, this was a really nice feature. Easy to use. Now it is not so easy anymore. To see the text they added an extra click. There is no more Edit feature. So you need to unencrypt, cut the text from the note very fast so that it is not saved unencrypted, paste it somewhere, make the changes, then paste and encrypt very fast again, to avoid saving the content unencrypted. most likely it will get saved unencrypted in the note history.

Control Which Image Shown in a Note's Thumbnail/Snippet View
Eduardo Estefano replied to marcelo's question in General Feature Requests
Something I learned yesterday. I was duplicating a note that had a small logo on it. On the new note (the duplicate) I was removing the logo and replacing it with a different image. But the thumbnail will not refresh. It will continue with the old thumbnail no matter what you do. In order to get the image to show, you need to create a new note from scratch OR remove any pictures from a note that you will duplicate. The first picture you add apparently will be the thumbnail. -
OK. So I noticed something with the current version. If you start duplicating notes and attaching documents, EN will get slower and slower as you keep doing this type of actions. If you then shut it down and restart, it will be fast again (not as fast as the old native apps, but ok). After about 10 shutdowns and restarts I was able to complete my task yesterday.

Control Which Image Shown in a Note's Thumbnail/Snippet View
Eduardo Estefano replied to marcelo's question in General Feature Requests
I have a Suppliers notebook. It would be great if the thumbnail could be the supplier logo. But this is impossible. Some notes show no thumbnail. If you copy from a previous note, it will keep the old thumbnail. It is basically a mess. You have to be luck that a good thumbnail will be picked. -
This works, but you lose the note History

Date shortcut - format changed
Eduardo Estefano replied to JimPf's question in Evernote for Mac Requests (Versions 10.0 and above)
Hi Evernote. Please fix this to use the system short date format, like it used to. This new format is no good at all. Having to type dates since the new version. When they announced the date shortcut was back I was "Yeah!". but then after CMD SHIFT D I was "Nooooooo!" You can always add as a preference if users really requested the Long Date format ( I seriously doubt that anyone likes this format). -

Evernote Web Pages Width at 800 px too narrow
Eduardo Estefano replied to sjachille's question in Evernote Web Client Requests
Looks like an easy fix. Do you know if it will stay like this after an update on the page via the EN Editor? -

Eduardo Estefano replied to Ian@FARM's question in Evernote Teams Requests
Any news on this feature? The process today is * Mail to Personal * Move to Business (actually this is a Copy to Business and Delete from Personal) * Empty trash in Personal
