  1. So you if there were enough levels of stacks, notebooks etc to implement this using notebooks you would also need the ability to have two notebooks of the same name which is not currently allowed in EN (but is in Windows for example).
  2. Yes, sorry, definitely off topic. I need to show as much discipline in my forum posts as I do my tag creation process!
  3. As far as I can see there are still no keyboard shortcuts on the web version. It appears the release notes for the web version are the same as the desktop version despite there being no keyboard shortcuts on the web. Edited to remove incorrect statement about the release not being announced in the forums.
  4. 10.39.6 includes the long promised ability to drag one note into another to create a link to that note. The links appear as true internal links not weblinks that only open in the web version of EN. It also gives you the ability to drag multiple notes to create multiple links within a note. However there is a trick to this which is not mentioned in the release notes. When you select multiple notes you will normally loose focus on the note you want to drag into. The trick is to open the note in a separate window first. You can then drag (via hovering over the new note in the taskbar if necessary) into the new note. If you drag into a numbered or bulleted list you get a nicely formatted TOC which can be dragged around at will. It's obvious when you think about it but it's early in the morning and it took my brain a moment to work it out so maybe it will help somebody else.
  5. You organise and file emails in any email program in just the same way as you organise and file notes in Evernote. There is functionally no difference. Gmail stores data and allows you to retrieve it through labels, search etc. A quick Google search gives lots of details of the datbases they use to provide this functionaility.
  6. As an inveterate tagger I'm probably not somebody you want to hear from. If you showed this image to somebody who didn't know EN they would assume some sort of folder structure like any OS has. We know it isn't only because we recognise the tag icons. To get tags to work like noteboooks you just need to have some discipline when creating tags. It is too easy to create new tags outside of the hierarchy on the fly. I would also recommend putting everything in one notebook unless it a "special" notebook for sharing or having offline on mobile devices. After you have done that you can start taking advantage of the extra things tags bring like the fact that real life doesn't always live in nice boxes and maybe the note should be classified in more than one way. the infinite depth of the tag hierarchy. You can now easily find that note that you put in a shared notebook but is actually on the same topic as other notes you didn't share. If EN brought in extra levels of notebook hierarchy that's fine. They just redesigned the code base and didn't do so, so it doesn't look likely. Gmail uses a tagging system - they just hide it better.
  7. Just one additional thought. It appears that the order of notes obtained from a search is independent from the other two. So you can set three different sort orders should you want to, one for each "group": All notes including filtered versions of all notes (e.g. the list obtained by clicking a tag in the sidebar) Notebooks (including subsequent filtering) Search results (including subsequent filtering) It is not always easy to know which of the groups you are in because, for example, the notebook could be a filter. The trick is always to look at the header: What you can't do, as far as I can see, is set different sort orders for things within one particular group. e.g. a different sort order for different notebooks or a different sort order for different searches. As always I am happy to be proved wrong by a reproducible example.
  8. I agree. The webclipper work around makes it a pretty low priority to fix.
  9. Very happy for you but it certainly doesn't work for me as described here: What's your secret? 10.38.3-win-ddl-public (3437) Editor: v149.0.18202 Service: v1.53.4 © 2019 - 2022 Evernote Corporation. All rights reserved
  10. Have you looked at another notebook? In my experience all notebooks will be sorted the same way. The All notes view is different and does seem to accept and automatically remember (there is no "save current view options ...") a sort order different from the notebooks..
  11. I'm sure you are right but this is about the ability to type text into the filter window to find a tag. This feature was in earlier versions of V10 but disappeared a couple of versions ago. Hopefully it will reappear soon. Although not up to 6.25 standards if you select a tag for example and then open the search menu you do get a "winnowed" list of filters to add. However it is not complete and i have no idea how the algorithm decides which to include. Progress but it's not there yet.
  12. This has already been raised Here: and here: Let's hope it is a bug rather than by design.
  13. To manage devices if you are a basic member and have hit your device limit you need to go to your account on the web. There is no difference in word count between the desktop version and the web version. Both have word count in the note info window. There is however shortcut for this on the desktop versions.
  14. Would it be possible to post some screen shots of what you are doing? I think both @agsteeleand I are mystified!
  15. Interesting. If I click on the image it opens in the Evernote image viewer (see screenshot). Right click and left click simply magnify the image. There is no menu. Very strange. Is it possible that you are double clicking the image which will open the image in whatever application is associated with that file type. Right clicking the image may well then give you an option to copy the image. Whatever you are doing, the double click option is a pretty easy workaround and I have just changed the association for jpg and png files to a simple, fast image viewer rather than photoshop. Next thing is to be able to copy an attached pdf to a gmail!
  16. I find a period before the checkbox more reliable than a space so that might be worth trying.
  17. Well I've tried to replicate this and still can't get it to work. My experience is exactly as descibed by @agsteele. You mention right click and "copy image". Do you literally see a "copy image" option or just "copy"? I only see "copy image" in the web version of EN. If I use "copy image" from the web version of EN I can paste into a Gmail but still not into Word. I'm on 10.38 on windows 10 so my set up is obviously not exactly the same.
  18. Please define exactly what you mean. Are you saying that in EN 10.36.2 BETA Windows version you can right click an image in a note choose copy and then paste that image into another Windows application?
  19. I accept the reality here but if it takes that long to fix things that they break they should have a more robust system for making sure they don't break things with new releases. Creating new bugs to replace the bugs they fix is not helpful.
  20. I completely agree that EN really works best with relatively short notes linked together though a table of contents. I find the new ToC functionaility really helpful because it is so easy to add items to the list and then, if you have used a numbered list, drag and automatically re-number the items in the list. If you must have a long note a possible solution is to give each section a unique heading (e.g. $A) and use "find within note" (Ctrl+F) to quickly go there. You could even just use the section titles as a ToC at the top of the note. Then select the text (shift+End) followed by Ctrl+F (search field is pre-populated with theh selected text)
  21. My comment about other OSs was about the expectation of how an OS should work not whether it does. If it does now work on Mac then that is even more frustrating for us Windows users. What happened to all that discussion about a common code base and the same experience for everybody whatever operating system they are on?
  22. Hardly a massive endorsement for "it's working for everybody else". I agree that this method has worked for some time. It's still a massive workaround for the simple copy and paste that the OP wants to see. I expect that: Why is the right click and copy option even there if it doesn't work?
  23. I disagree. It is unclear in those posts, including your own, as to whether you are talking about pasting an image into EN or out of EN. The OP later admits a lack of clarity in the original post. @gazumpedPlease clarify that you can take an image that is in an EN note and by either right clicking and choosing copy or by dragging and dropping you can put that image into another Windows document (e.g a word document).
  24. Have you ever been able to do this on V10? I share your frustration that something that is so fundamental to the way that Windows (and all other OSs) is supposed to work still doesn't work in EN.
  25. And as I demonstrated with the Scrodinger equation example it is a general issue for Wikipedia using whatever maths mark up language they use.
