afelikian 0
After updating to Evernote version 10.82.2 on my Windows PC , I've encountered significant performance issues, with the application running exceptionally slow to the point of being unusable. Attempts to use Evernote through its web interface have similarly resulted in poor performance. Is there any solution? Is there a way to download an older version of Evernote? Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 12,078 Posted March 28 Level 5* Share Posted March 28 Hi. Since v10 has to set up a new local management system on your device and download your entire database it can seem slow at first. Plus in the past year v10 has a new data structure to optimize automatic syncing. Notes originally created in Legacy take a few seconds to update to the new structure when they're loaded for the first time. If you leave Evernote active for some while (possibly some hours) after updating it will catch up. If it's still slow after that, there's probably something wrong with the installation. Mine works effectively on a 10-year-old laptop. It's not advisable to downgrade your app, but there is already a newer version - maybe download 10.83 from Evernote.com and try again? 1 Link to comment

Thomas Schuster 1
I have the same problem. After the update to 10.82.2 it is really bad. When I have opened a note, and it has loaded, adding a line of text takes 5-10 seconds - on a decent 4 yr old Lenovo X1. I totally breaks my line of thought. I have had Evernote open constantly, so any sync. issues should have been fixed by now - please help, or I have to migrate somewhere else. 1 Link to comment
afelikian 0
I think it is being caused by having too much info on one notebook. If I start a new blank note it works fine... Link to comment
VincentC 353
Latest version at evernote.com as of April 4 at 14:38 eastern time is version 10.83.5. Apparently performance is better. (I haven't had the problem so I cannot speak from experience.) Vinnie Link to comment
straightshooter 0
this slowness is a huge issue for me. I actually experienced it months ago. If i can't get this fixed, it's big enough for me to use something else. It's causing productivity issues. Any advice? Should i reinstall the apps on my PC? I use the ios version on iPad and Iphone. straightshooter 0
Thank you for your response. ThinkPad PC, Windows version 10.82.2. I also use iOS version 10.82.0. slowness in typing in a note, slowness in having the note contents rendered in the window. Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 12,078 Posted April 7 Level 5* Share Posted April 7 Best I can offer is that is you recently updated to v10, operations are slow for a while because it needs to set up a new infrastructure in your local storage and convert all previous notes (including some created in early v10 apps) into the current format. There's a lot of set-up work which can make things extra slow for days or weeks after conversion (depending on how often and how long you have the app active for). If after that time things are still slow, then a reinstall may help - it's possible some data was corrupted somehow; but you simply should not have an unworkably slow app. Contact Support too via https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us Link to comment
Takestock 0
Same issue. Evernote is now very slow on Macbook Pro using the latest version of Evernote. Almost becoming unusable. Link to comment

David Borhani 1
Evernote has become nearly unusable on Mac, now persisting through multiple Evernote updates. Typing is incredibly slow: I can type words ahead of what appears on the screen, then it finally catches up. Someone said it had to do with large Notebooks (mine has 909 notes). Made a new notebook; no better. Someone else said it had to do with Evernote updating note formats; the multiple updates, and the fact that I have Evernote open for days at a time suggests that's not the case. Is there a fix? SoniaEnergy 0
My Evernote has become slow and virtually unusable. Each time I open and launch it the green wheel is no spinning for a looooong time before my files load. I'm running this in IOS Monterey 12.6.3. There are no Evernote updates to be done that I can tell. I've restarted my computer. It's getting to the point that I'm almost ready to trash everything and find something different. I'd rather not. Any solutions? Link to comment

Any solutions? Check for updates! You must have the latest one, due to the new "architecture" of Evernote's code. Update, then log out, restart your device, login again. Or: log out, de-install Evernote, install Evernote, login. I have since the latest update no longer any issues with performance. https://evernote.com/blog/rent-metadata-sync Link to comment
Daniel Gomes 0
For me is extremely serious. I just did a complete reinstall from scratch and Evernote was one of the first applications I reinstalled. Before installing it it was running fine. But right after installing evernote my notebook went back to be EXTREMELY slow! There is something terribly wrong with this app. I have been using it for 10 years now. But if this is not solved soon I will switch to something else. It seems absurd that a cloud note keeping platform would make your computer inoperable... Link to comment

The installed app keeps a copy of your entire database locally. Once set up it is usable, but slow systems are a known temporary issue. Once the infrastructure has been created things speed up. kaka123456 0
I also encountered the problem of slow editing after opening Notepad. This problem seriously affects my work efficiency I have been using evernote for five years I really miss the performance and functionality I had before the merger. The new team really needs to review it carefully Link to comment
