If you search the forum (before posting, preferably) you find a number of threads about it already.

The code block is a very simple, preformatted container that can't even be reached by the usual formatting - just try to make a text in a code block Bold or Underline. The only working options is to indent it more or less. But this doesn't create a formatted indent, it just adds a tab character to the code.

What does this mean ? EN would have to create a completely new code base part of the app, probably through a plugin. I don't think it is very likely, but you can ask.

Since the forum is user2user, contact support.

people are requesting this feature since last 4-5 years... because of these pink elephant ...people developers are not considering it ..they don't use it .. so they just comments blindly wheather they understand the issue or not ...

this is the notion snapshots when you save code it automatically highlight the cmd text.

My comment was on topic, opposite to your strange answer.

Just FYI: The forum is user 2 user. I have as much influence on EN as you, as fellow user. With your talent to make friends, this request will make it far.

it would greatly benefit users who frequently work with code snippets in various programming languages

...Out of 200M + users,  how many would you say are working with code snippets...?

Perhaps the answer has to do with how many people are requesting it. Because Evernote can be used for so many purposes, it seems to me that there is a tendency for each type of user to assume that their own use is the primary use for Evernote. "Evernote is for code writers." "Evernote is for document storage." "Evernote is for tasks." "Evernote is for writing novels." And when Evernote continues to generalize rather than to specialize for one particular type of use, people sometimes think they are being ignored unfairly. Personally, I would like to see Evernote have a better developed set of fonts, styles, and font colors. But Evernote's developers are ignoring me, and  they are doing so fairly.

Maybe ask yourself how many companies have coders in them.  It's a containerized world and companies are creating things from within.  That's a big market.  Unbelievably huge.

Hi.  I don't think that  word means what you think it means.  I also deleted your other post here since it was pointlessly critical of another user.  You should be aware that we're mostly all other users here,  governed by guidelines as here: https://discussion.evernote.com/guidelines/ and personal attacks are not wlecome.

What's the criteria of Evernote to decide which feature to keep which to drop, if forums are not for feature request please provide the link here, then lets do some voting and see. Almost everyone on evernote is working some or other kind of code.

I doubt this is the case …

And even if: I just store some code I found useful, but don’t edit it at all. For me the current code block does what I need.

Probably with this use I am already part of a small percentage of all users. Those who want to really work with code are even less. Most users (from what I see at the forum) won’t use any code related features.

EN staff decides about which features they develop or broaden. Initially with v10 there were several new features added, both large and small.

The focus since mid 2022 has shifted to reliability and speed, like the new RTE syncing. From what BS has told, they did a lot of work on streamlining the apps and rebuilding the server side functions.

The first visible new thing is now the new UI.

You can always send feedback to point out a feature you would like to see.

When would this feature be implemented? Is it in a plan or just been dropped. Have used Evernote for almost 10 years. But lack this feature is really annoying for tech professionals.

Evernote has new owners who have (if you read the post immediately above yours) more or less rebuilt the back-end from the ground up in the past year.  No-one yet knows their future detailed plans,  but specialised tools for coders are probably not high on the list.  We're mostly users here - contact Evernote direct if you want to make your case...

"Evernote currently lacks support for syntax highlighting and color formatting"

zitendra, I am with you 100%, I posted this to my wish list several weeks ago.
"One feature I sorely miss is the ability to color code notebooks, which was immensely helpful in my Evernote usage. Many of my notebooks, such as Family Photos, Family History, and Travel, were easily identifiable by color, which streamlined my workflow." ClutterBGone
