Skitch saying monthly quota reached when it hasn't

Go to solution Solved by kgg,

Every time I add a screenshot to Skitch to annotate it, I get a message saying that I've reached my monthly quota. The problem is that I haven't (I've only used about 50kb), but I've received this message EVERY time I used it for many, many months now. It's really frustrating.

"The sync operation cannot complete because you have reached your monthly quota..."

I have sync set up to manual, never sync, and don't save the image once I've added it to an email.

I have the exact same issue. I have zero notes in skitch - I deleted when first coming across this issue. I have emptied evenote trash. Evernote tells me i have used 18% of monthly allowance.

This has been going on for months...

For the last 5-6 months, skitch on my mac has been telling me I have reached my monthly quota.

I havent had an image saved in skitch for months - i cleared them all out when first coming across this issue

I have logged into Evernote web, and it says i have 72% left.

I have deleted all trash items from Evernote as well.

I have uninstalled and resinstalled as well.

Very frustrating.....

Anyone help please??

Signout of Skitch.

Quit Skitch completely.

Go to Users\your user\Library\Application Support

Delete the entire Skitch folder.

Reopen Skitch and sign in again.  Haven't had the issue since I did that.

I tried to do this, but I don't have a Skitch folder under Application Support. I searched my Mac for Skitch and it returned 0 folder results. Is there anything else it might be called? Thanks!

@AngieB, if you have a Mac, you most likely do have that Skitch folder in Application Support, but it's sometimes hard to get to. If you're not familiar with the command line, you can open a Finder window, then in the top toolbar, click "Go" -> "Go to Folder" (http://note.io/1OmkYCA), then enter the path described above, but importantly, you need a forward slash, e.g., /Users/[yourusername]/Library

From there, you should be able to navigate down to Application Support, and then find the Skitch folder.

Every month, I immediately reach the 60MB limit with Skitch, although I haven't uploaded anything.  I also can't send any emails to Evernote for the same reason.  Although I haven't ever sent the first email.

Does anyone know why this happens?

Thanks for reporting this. We are looking into the issue. If you are experiencing this issue please submit a support ticket (see the link in my signature). Be sure to select the option "Report a bug" from the menu choices on the submission form.

The following information would also be helpful to include in your submission:

  1. A brief summary of your issue
  2. An activity log from Skitch
  3. A screenshot showing your allowance has been met in Skitch but not in Evernote
  4. The email address associated with your Evernote account
  5. A link to this forum thread

Once you've submitted, please post your ticket number here.

For some reason Skitch has troubled me for a month or so not reseting the monthly limit, even though Evernote correctly reports a fresh space of 60 MB.

I've tried log out Skitch and Evernote, quit the apps, restart MacBook Pro and log back in Skitch and Evernote. No luck.

I'm using OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 and Skitch 2.7.8.

EDIT 26.11.2015 I've reported a bug.

Hi brettr2, if you are unable to submit an activity log on the support form, please reply to the auto-confirmation message you receive after submitting the ticket. If you have met your quota in Evernote please include additional details about why you believe the information is not accurate.

To send an activity log, try to reproduce the problem, sync your app, then follow these steps:

1. Open Skitch
2. Go to Help > Activity Log... from the menu bar
3. Copy and paste the contents from the log into your reply

The activity log contains a detailed log of steps that Evernote performs and is helpful for diagnosing the problem you may be experiencing. The activity log also contains information about your account, your device, and your location information (if enabled). The titles of your notes, tags, notebooks, attached files, and, if your account was having network syncing errors, some of your note content, may also be contained in the activity log. You may edit the log file to remove anything you do not want to send us. We treat activity log data as confidential information, and the terms of our [Privacy Policy] (http://evernote.com/privacy/) apply.

When I start Skitch on my Macbook Pro, there's always a popup about I have reached my quota. I only have 4.5MB out of 60MB used.  If I sign out and back in, it works fine and the correct quota is displayed. But the problem always comes back.

From other posts about this problem, the solution from Evernote is simply to ignore the problem.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi Everyone,

Good news: this issue should be fixed in the next update to Skitch (Version 2.8). I don't have a timeline for when it will be released but please keep an eye out for the update and post here if you find this is still an issue for you.

It's still not working for me, and I deleted all the Skitch folders as mentioned in the thread :/. This has been a pain for several months now. Can't find my support ticket number.

"Skitch 2.7.8 is currently the newest version available."

I use Skitch all the time. However, I've been really unhappy with the continuous "The sync operation cannot complete because you have reached your monthly quota.  Upgrading your account will allow you to continue your sync with a higher quota." I realize the answer is to upgrade, but what really bothers me is that I KNOW I've reached this quote, yet every single time I want to use skitch, I use a lot of single screenshots, that immediately get dumped, I have to go through multiple steps, because there is no way to say "Yeah, I know, I really don't have to walk through the whole 'you should upgrade' process, which is not quick. It's annoying. And it's annoying enough I've been quitting the application because if I don't, the message continually pops up, even if I'm not using it. You're making this very irritating.

The thread was silent for 4 years. A solution was described in full detail.

Is this issue a problem for you, even when knowing about the solution ? Or did you just want to post something, somewhere, for the  sake of posting?

The above solution no longer works on modern OSX. I fixed this annoying bug last night by:

  1. Log out of Skitch
  2. Uninstall Skitch
  3. Using the finder look through ~/Library and search for "skitch". Delete anything that's related to skitch that shows up in those search results, particularly the Skitch stuff in ~/Library/Containers
  4. Send all that stuff to trash and clear your trash
  5. I restarted my machine, you may not need to, but I was so annoyed at this bug that I restarted
  6. Reinstall Skitch and it'll work 🎉
