  1. Evernote are not and do not have any plans to build a Linux client. They have been very explicit about this.
  2. Given that there have recently been major updates to the Mac and iOS clients that do not contain this functionality I think it's pretty safe to assume that it won't be included in the short to medium term.
  3. Much like Markdown, given that Evernote have just released major updates to the OS X and iOS clients, I'm pretty sure that it's safe to assume that this isn't on the short to medium term horizon.
  4. I really don't think they can make it any clearer that at least in the short to medium term an Evernote built Linux client isn't happening.
  5. I don't think anyone is saying that you aren't using Evernote correctly. But, if you want to use Evernote now then you have to adapt to the restrictions that the service has whether that is individual note size, monthly uploads, number of notebooks or whatever. Evernote don't discuss their roadmap or release strategy and I'd guess that the current notebook limit is not based on an arbitrary number but more likely on an architectural or design constraint so it's impossible to know whether a change is around the corner or 2 years away. So, rationalise your notebooks, tag what you can and make it work for you, or don't, go ahead and pick something else. Freedom of choice is a great thing.
  6. You're not the only one and it's been discussed before, but it doesn't exist at the moment or for that matter in the new Mac beta so I'm guessing if it ever does happen it won't be in the immediate future. You could be creative with your note titles - for example give your expenses notes a date title like 20121102 which will give you more flexibility.
  7. Just to clarify, Evernote have never said that are going to implement any further depth in their notebook hierarchy. Given that they don't discuss their roadmap, I don't see any reason why they should comment on this specific issue.
  8. I don't think I'm giving too much away if I tell you that at least one is marmite based.
  9. i'd bet 3 of my favourite notes that multiple notebook levels are not implemented in the next 2 years if ever. No inside information, but it's clearly not the way that the app is architected and the cost of changing that architecture and implementing across all the clients would be very very high. The existing model is proving phenomenally successful, in their shoes I wouldn't change it either.
  10. It's never going to happen, you either deal with it and find a way to make it work for you or you look for another product. It's really not that complicated.
  11. With image rotation it seems that they are adding some image manipulation, so I'm guessing that resizing will come along eventually. In the meantime there are many many tools that you can use to resize your images. Use Preview, it's free, takes no time at all and has a bunch of other features that Evernote will probably never choose to add.
  12. Or use the web or use Wine or use Baumgarr's app. There are plenty of options, but what there isn't and isn't likely to be is an Evernote built or Evernote funded Linux client. I hope you've got it now, because I can't think how any of us can make it any clearer for you.
  13. I guess because in the end, the linux community is so small that it isn't worth the effort of supporting. The options are pretty clear if you want to use Evernote with Linux, you use the web or you use baumgarr's app. Or, you choose a more widely adopted OS. This really isn't that hard.
  14. They haven't said that they don't want a Linux client, they've said that they don't want to build a Linux client. There is a difference.
  15. Seriously, you have a quick look through the forum and you come up with this 15% number? This conversation just became ridiculous. I'm looking for that picture now.
  16. Tags are already displayed hierarchically. If you have all this experience you will understand that a significant structural change comes at significant cost. Evernote is a service with 12 (14?) clients plus I don't know how many apps that use it's APIs, what you are describing is not just a simple UI improvement it is to all intensive purposes a complete re-design of the underlying data structure which would then require major updates to all clients, APIs and thiird party clients I really suggest you spend a little more time with the product and understand how it works before you decide to become the voice of the silent displeased. http://discussion.evernote.com/topic/14214-can-stacks-contain-stacks/
  17. I'm not an evangelist and it's less a case of squashing the issue and more one of just pointing out what is known having been around here for a long time and read threads like this before. Dave used to post a lot, but as the company grew that reduced and then ended before the forum migrated and so it may be difficult to find his posts. With all your experience, I'm sure you can understand the major work that would have to be undertaken to implement nested notebooks.
  18. Search the forum for Dave Engberg, I'm sure some of his posts came over from the old forum, Dave is the CTO. Sticking to a design choice isn't arrogant, it's a choice. There are many examples of Evernote listening to users, however, Evernote is a commercial organisation not a community built application so it makes choices for itself. You might not like all of them, but that's the way it is. By the way, I like many prefer tags as an organisational system and I don't want them to waste time and money changing the data model, the service, the clients to introduce nested notebooks. Kind for arrogant of you not to listen to users like me?
  19. Very senior Evernote employees have made it very clear that adding levels of notebooks simply isn't going to happen so I guess it's number 1. Now it's up to you whether you want to play by Evernotes's rules or go use Onenote or something else.
  20. The sharing of Stacks is not currently supported.
  21. OK, I get you mean now. Evernote doesn't currently have any spacing function - you could add a blank line between each numbered point...
  22. Looks like you are using a numbered list? If so, you can't leave blank lines without restarting the numbering. Google site search searches this site, searching for 'formatting' returns 3,160 results.
