I think the rationale behind Evernote is to provide a very good general tool that can be applied across multiple use cases. With a little imagination you can nearly always create a workaround. In this case, you could use a nonsense text string as the anchor and then search the note.

This has been discussed before a couple of times. No real indication whether Evernote are interested or not.

One thing that isn't often realised is just how hard sync is, it's really really hard to get it to work 100% of the time for a whole bunch of reasons. I'm not excusing Evernote, my expectation is that their service will work 100% of the time but having worked on some pretty complex sync solutions myself I know that the pitfalls do make my expectation a little unrealistic.

The Market is hardly a secret, in fact it's a very profitable product line. I don't understand why this is them getting their priorities wrong? For Evernote to be around for a long time, to continue making useful software it has to be profitable, Market contributes to this. It's not like the Xcode developers are whittling the pen pots is it? Whether you think the products are any good or decent value for money is a personal thing, but I very much doubt that the technical team are in any way affected by the Market with the exception of products like the scanner and moleskine that have proved to be very successful.

The other thing is if you have a large account and you choose to have all your notebooks available offline then of course it's going to take a long time to download and process. I'm looking forward to all the new mods who can help users like this.

Evernote don't often discuss their roadmap and actually this is something I don't imagine that they'd be interested - shame, I'd quite like it too.

Have you checked the web version to see what is being sync'd? Have you checked your logs? Have you opened a support ticket? Have you done anything to help yourself?

This is a thread about the Mac client so you might not get much help here.

Check the edit menu, I can't remember what it is but they are using their own shortcut for some reason. They are using Alt+cmd+v no idea why they can't use the standard OS X combo.

I love the idea that Evernote is a "movement". It's not, it's a commercial company selling a commercial service and as such are able to make any kind of decision that they believe to be the best. That isn't to say that as a user you have to agree with one or every decision and you can certainly voice a contrary argument on these user forums but to assume that your opinion alone (or the relatively small sample set of forum users) validates an argument and makes it The Truth rather underestimates how grown up companies behave.

Certainly on the mac you can now display everything apart from images as attachments.

The web is cross platform. If you are a Linux user there are a number of alternatives, what there isn't is a native Evernote built client. No indication that this is ever going to change.

I'm not sure (I'm just being polite, I'm really very sure) that Evernote doesn't have to justify its business decisions. You could always upgrade to a proper OS (Runs away grinning like a proper troll)

You seem to think because you think Apple products and Windows OS are inferior that that's a fact. Well guess what? It's not a fact & simply your opinion. Each has their own pros & cons as does Linux. WRT Evernote, you can always use the web client. It's certainly a fact that Linux is better than Windows. It's more efficient, safer, and did I mention value for money? It's a fact that Steve Jobs was so arrogant with the release of the iPhone. It was inferior in every way to equivalent HTC Windows Mobile phones at the time users couldn't record video until the 3GS! I also recall one of them that had an antenna fault and from his response it was clear that Jobs couldn't care less about his customers. Thankfully, the gimmick has worn off now and quite rightly they have been overtaken by superior devices. Don't write me off as a complete Apple hater for the sake of it. I was pro-Apple during the 80's and 90's. Steve Jobs turned on his principles and left an Apple that is the IBM of the 21st century. It's Apple that wanted it all but thankfully Android gave us a sound alternative. In the 1990's the biggest phone company was NOKIA, they were arrogant and didn't listen to their customers. NOKIA no longer make money in the mobile phone business and had to be bailed out by Microsoft. I hope Evernote aren't making the same mistake. Thanks for giving my post of the year for 2014!

You can have a Linux machine and Evernote. You can use the web or wine or a vm. What you can't have is a native Evernote built Evernote client.

You are correct, it's not currently supported and Evernote only very rarely talk about future plans - I haven't seen anything related to this mentioned.

Why? It is a private company with a responsibility to it's investors, employees and to a certain extent to it's customers. Frankly, I don't think they have any interest in the Open Source community and I'm not sure why they should have.

I know you lot prefer not to provide a lot of user options.... How about a contextual option on the desktop apps? Display actual size/Display to fit. Mobile apps would display to fit.

Just to restate it again. Evernote are an organisation who very very rarely talk about their future plans. Evernote has explicitly said that they have no plans to build a native Linux client. If you are a Linux user then you can use the web client or in a VM/emulator.

I believe the point is that they have thought, considered, discussed, weighed up the benefits, figured out the costs and decided that they aren't going to.
