  1. You might consider creating just one Notebook called "Clients", and then using Tags to designate each client. I have used this approach with much success. All of my client-specific Tags have a prefix of "CLI." and then a short ID. Anytime I want to apply a client tag, or filter on one, I can just type "CLI." and EN provides a popup list of clients. Hope this gives you some ideas.
  2. I disagree. It may be "smart" from a technical point of view, but not of a users point of view. There is very little correlation between the image size and what image is the most important, or most relevant, to the user. On top of that, the thumbnail often crops the image in the middle, making it almost unrecognizable. Don't see anything "smart" about this. Choosing the first image whose width and height are both greater than that used for borders would be "smart", as well a give the user control over which image is used for the thumbnail.
  3. I think this is a case of the programmers trying to be cool with a "clever" algorithm, yet they did not have a good understanding of the end-user's needs/perspective. We have tried several times to convince the EN team that the current selection process does not work very well, but they don't seem to want to hear it.
  4. For those running the Mac OS, you can just drag the file from the Finder to a Browser address bar and it will enter the file path. You can then copy this and paste into the Evernote Add Link (CMD+K) dialog.
  5. I think the OP is asking how to enter a link to a file on his/her local hard drive, not to another EN Note. This would be useful.
  6. JB, thanks for sharing this "announcement". I had not seen nor heard of anything along these lines. Sounds good. But it seems like a complete reversal of CEO Phil Libin's statements previously that Evernote was and always will be only a "consumer", end-user app, and that he had been down the path of "Enterprise software" and doesn't want to go there again. Did Evernote publish a blog on this? If so, I missed it.
  7. I like your requests. They highlight some of the shortcomings of the Evernote Sharing feature. IMO, Evernote Sharing is really "Sharing Lite", and doesn't come close to providing the features and tools needed for serious collaboration. So, you may want to consider other apps for collaboration. Here is a quote from a similar thread: Evernote sharing is NOT ready for mission critical collaboration
  8. I had not heard of MyNotesKeeper before, but after a quick review of their website it looks like an impressive program. I do like the hierarchical, collapsible folder list in the left panel. So what brings you to Evernote? Are you switching to Evernote from MyNotesKeeper? If so, what Evernote features do you find compelling? Unfortunately, Evernote has resisted all suggestions that they provide a hierarchical folder/subfolder or Notebook/SubNotebook organization. It doesn't look like it is in the cards for the foreseeable future.
  9. This is not currently possible. One workaround is to create the table in another app (like MS Word), copy the table (note the file) from Word and paste into the Evernote note.
  10. Evernote is not well suited to be used as a Code Snippet manager. There are a number of other apps (Windows, Mac, Web) that are dedicated to this function, and do it much better. While Evernote can store the text of your code, it can have problems in doing so reliably since your code is actually embedded in HTML like code. So, you may be better off with another app for this purpose.
  11. I would find sorting of text useful. Sorting is not particularly a "word processing" function. In fact, in the early days of WP, there was no sort feature. It is more of a text or list function. Evernote does provide for list support. I submit it is a fairly common need to sort a list after having spent some time writing/development. Sorting text is a well known (ancient) technology, and I can't image that it would be a big burden on development. IAC, nobody asked for a full-blown word processor.
  12. Most of my thumbnails are so illogical that I pretty much just ignore them in the Snippet view. It would be very cool to right-click on the Snippet View Note, and select "Choose Thumbnail". EN could present a selection of images in thumbnail size for the user to pick from. It would seem that EN has all of the data it needs to do this in a small popup window, since the Note images are all files which EN knows for each Note.
  13. I would imagine that Evernote already has the algorithm for merging Notes based on their design in the EN Win and EN Mac platforms. The only real difference with iOS is the I/O.
  14. It is probably just a Word problem. Just quit Word before you quit EN, and see if that fixes the problem. EN will only display PDF's inline in the Note. If it is important to see the text in the Word attachment, you will have to copy/paste directly into the Note.
  15. It is not clear how a new feature gets approved inside of Evernote. It seems unpredictable. I have watched feature requests like "Note Links" be requested for several years by many users, all the while the usual reasons for NOT implementing the feature were repeatedly given by Evernote and some of the evangelists. Then one day, boom! An EN Blog was published releasing Note Links. The marketing made it sound like Evernote had just discovered/implemented one of key features of all time. :-) So while no one should count on a new feature request, it never hurts, IMO, for users to keep on making the request for it.
  16. One way to express this in a more definitive way is the image with the largest width, assuming that your example you gave is in the order of width x height. However, it is not clear that this is actually what you mean. For example, what if we add an image that is 250x150? Then the list would be: 75x100 100x400 200x300 250x150 Does that mean that EN would now select the last image (250x150) for the thumbnail? Well, I'm going out of the business of making suggestions, but as one of the last, does it make sense to anyone at Evernote to choose the first image in the Note for the thumbnail?
