Someone else still having this issue in 2021? I only own 2 devices, an iPhone and a Laptop, and Evernote keeps saying me I can only use 2 devices (which is what I'm doing, just using them 2) but still shows my iPhone as duplicate, today, evernote logged me off automatically because I've change the devices 2 times on this month! (trying to fix this) It is awfull :( I can not login on any device now and looks like I will need to wait untill next month?

Open a support ticket or tag an admin here to reset your limit and revoke your devices. Once you log into your first device, IMMEDIATELY change your password. Usually, when people get this error it is because someone else is logging into your account. It’s possible you tried to use the web version (which counts as a device), but I’d change password to be safe.

  2. Used to be able to click on a numbered list and continue numbering. While the new version doesn't make 1. 1. 1. 1. in a row, I'm unable to right click and select continue numbering. Sometimes I have sections and instead of 1. 2. 3. 1. 2. 3., I'd like 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. I used to be able to select continue numbering to achieve that. Is this in the works?

When will the Apple Watch app return? It is not perfect but I depend on its functionality. What is the ETA? Days or Weeks?

Does anyone know if Apple Watch counts as an additional device? It'd be great if it counts as the same device of the iPhone which it is paired.

Separate, but related: is there a particular reason Evernote accessed on iPhone has to use the App Store app and be counted as a device rather than the Web Version? Why can't web version be accessed on iPhone?

Yes I have revoked the access to all devices except my phone. But the app started to work strangely. It shows that there is no internet although I have internet connection.

    Thanks Jeshi.

Have you done the standard: turn-on-airplane-mode, wait 15 seconds, turn off airplane mode? Restart phone? Check wifi and cellular signal strength?

I have been hacked in September:

    • I put two step verification, change pswd and I also think about deleting my account. What should I do?

Don't forget to "Revoke access to ALL devices" so each device will have to sign in again. Any hackers who are currently signed in will be booted out.

  6. Thanks, do you know if there is a setting for "store while I'm using and delete after closing EN Web"? Like a "remove EN cache after closing browser" option? It seems like if I decline letting Safari use the memory, then I cannot access EN Web at all. Was I able to previously because of a change to EN Web or is it a change to Safari/Mac?

If you are short of memory, you may think about storing data locally.

How do I store data locally?

  7. Strange, I've been using EN Web on a Windows computer for years without issue. On my Mac computer with client installed, I recently started using EN Web because I'm enjoying the new highlighting colors feature that's not available on the client yet.

I just received a message asking if I would allow the website to store data on my computer. I'm confused because I thought EN Web was cloud-based.

  8. @eric_treelight @annies If you go to access history (Evernote Web), you’ll probably see devices and IP address from a country different than you. These are hackers accessing your account. Once I changed my password to a strong, unique one and revoked access to ALL DEVICES simultaneously, I haven’t had weird devices locking me out.

I know you’re extremely frustrated — I was — this should resolve the issue.

  9. @PinkElephant @Rich Tener Sorry to revive an old thread (hopefully that's better than creating a new one with the same issue). I just found out logins and access that aren't mine...how frustrating! I've gone through most of the steps above: change to a new unique password, revoked all device access, scan for malware. I'm on the BASIC plan.

I'm having trouble with the two-factor authentication setup. I scanned the QR codes with my phone, which says the code isn't recognized. When I click the "can't read barcode link," I get info for Google authenticator on the Google Play store. Can you provide the link to the correct app in the Apple App Store? I searched for it myself, but there look to be more than one, and I don't want to download and install the wrong one. Please advise.

Also, is there somewhere we can report security breaches privately? I don't understand a lot about VPN's. Does that mean reporting/blocking the offending IP (either personally or if Evernote as a company does it) does not actually protect you?

  10. Just a quick update...I responded to support’s email following their very specific instructions: email address ____, use subject line _____. Didn’t hear back from them.

Finally, received an email from them an hour ago asking for an update from me... seems like they never received my email. *sigh*

I’ve lost access to my notes while on mobile for three days now and have had to tell people “Sorry, I don’t have access to that note right now.”

I’ve used Evernote for over three years now, getting friends and family members to use it as well. As of this issue, Evernote is not reliable for information.

From my side it was not removed. It has 3 screenshots showing how to get into your web account on a mobile device (iOS).

If you can enter your account (make sure it is the right one, because if you log in with a wrong user -a typo is enough - you see a new account instead of your one), and notes are not showing, sometimes it helps to set back to the „classical“ editor in settings.

If you are in the right account, your devices should show in the settings, and you can unsync there. If you are not sure which is the right device to unsync, unsync both phones. Then open the one you are going to use, and log in again.

I wasn’t able to unsync both phones because I only have one unsync left due to this sync issue.

You go to Evernote.com . There you log in with your account - if it goes how it goes if I do it, it takes you right to your account, with your notes and settings. In settings, you can de-/select devices.

    Evernote Web Client on iPad.pdfUnavailable

I see Settings, but not Notes. I cannot view your PDF. Error message: “This attachment is not available. It may have been removed or the person who shared it may not have permission to share it to this location.”

I don't access on iOS at all, but on my Android device, in Chrome, to get to the Devices page, I went to the link that @Scott T. provided (Devices page), signed in, and it took me straight there.

To access the web version of Evernote on Android, I go to evernote.com,  and use a Chrome menu setting to open the desktop site, and there's the Evernote web application, in all its glory, It's a bit painful to use on a small device like a phone as it doesn't adapt to the smaller screen size, leading to lots of scrolling around, but it does work after a fashion, and can be useful in a pinch. I'm guessing you can do something similar on iOS, but I can't tell for sure.

Anyways, it sounds like @Scott T. has things in hand for you, and hopefully you get things straightened out shortly. Cheers.

On iOS one probably has to switch the browser to the desktop view. With the mobile website the App will lauch instead of the browser access. To switch to the desktop website, one hits the AA-Symbol to the left of the URL field, and pick it from the Dropdown-Menü men.

From there it should be the same as described for Android.

@jefito @PinkElephant After reading your posts, I went to Evernote.com, signed in, tapped the AA symbol, Request Desktop Site, and still was not able to see my notes. I unlocked portrait mode, turned phone to landscape, and still could not find an option to access Notes.

I received an email from support; I’ll perform those steps and report any solutions for future users who encounter this issue.

Web browser doesn't count as a device, even if it's on your mobile device. Devices are the native -- meaning Windows, Mac, Android and iOS applications. In particular, it's the native Android and iOS applications on which cached notes are cleared when you change users. The web version does things differently. @jefito I don’t know how YOU access Evernote Web on iOS because as soon as I go to Evernote.com and sign in, I’m taken to Account Settings — with no option in the hamburger menu to access Notes.

@Scott T. Thanks. Do you know if they are going to contact me via email or will it be a different method?

Accessing Scott's link works on Chrome on my Android device.

I mean, I only have one unsync left (not two), so I’m going to continue having the same problem unless I can unsync both devices at the same time before I log in with them.

I meant I can’t login on browser meaning I can’t view my notes and use it regularly. this is by design because Evernote wants people to sync their phones and not use the browser on their phones.

What happened to your old phone ?

You can always unsync using the Web Client, but if the old phones account was not erased, it will probably sign on again.

There is a new policy on Basic accounts that you can’t unsync and reassign new devices very often, so better get this done in the first try. The web client is always available, but you may be locked out of other devices for a while if you repeatedly loop through unsync and reassign.

    @PinkElephant
Used the migration tool to upgrade my phone. All the apps and data are carbon copies from old phone, but some apps (probably all of them), I had to re-login.

Logging into Evernote App on new phone is confusing it because it alternately thinks I’m trying to log in with phone 1 and phone 2 when I only log into phone 2.

Phone 1 could not be logging in by someone else because I factory reset it. Most likely the device has been recycled. It is CERTAINLY not logging into my account.

@Scott T. How can I go into Evernote WEB and unsync “Phone 1” and “Phone 2”, so I can re-add “Phone 2” and stop this cycle? I only have one unsync left.

Using EN WEB only at this point isn’t an option as I don’t always access a computer and EN Web is inaccessible via mobile browser. Please advise.

  17. @Scott T. Please help me! After upgrading to a new phone, Evernote thinks my new phone is two devices and I keep having to click unsync in order to access my notes. This is maddening and frustrating to be locked out of my notes (not to mention not being able to report this issue via email for the free plan).

Hello, our development team is still investigating this. However, it appears to be caused by uploading larger images or attachments. These can take some time to upload through the browser. If you upload a larger image or attachment and then quickly start adding text or editing the note, it seems to cause this sync notice to appear. It may happen more frequently when the note is longer and/or has many images/attachments in it.

Until this fully gets resolved (no ETA at the moment, but it is a priority), please try to be very slow and deliberate when adding larger images and attachments before resuming editing. This should hopefully help mitigate collisions in the meantime. Thank you for your help with providing the above information and for your patience while the development team gets to the bottom of this.

@Scott T. @Jay-Bob FYI, I've waited as long as five minutes after pasting before typing. Then, as soon as I typed a few words, I received the "Note failed to update. There's been an error syncing your note. Please reload to resume editing." message.
