  1. Oooh, that's the stuff I like to hear. S-Pen At long last the maggoty apple biters with their 02 sponsorware will choke when I plonk my S-gear on the table.
  2. @Dave-in-Decatur sorry to say google.com/de says no more than latest update October 2nd , various bugs fixed and some improvements Though I do not know for sure but going by usual practices, the European D-A-CH representatives would be responsible for feeding the German-speaking part of Google Play. (D-A-CH reads Germany-Austria-Switzerland). Apart from spoken Swiss German being a foreign language to most Austrians and Germans I read in a newspaper article by Neue Zürcher Zeitung that the Swiss office chosen for the 3 countries targets its efforts on winning small-scale Swiss business companies. If one can afford to neglect about 90 million others, one must be doing well or lives in airy-fairy land.
  3. @May Allen Just updated to the lastest Android build. Upscaling reflow really works a treat for text reflow. Thumbs up! Sadly, however, no special mention in Google Play. How many old-time users delve into settings every time a new build is released? Either it is obvious to see or the app itself draws attention to the improvement or at least the Play Store blurb points to it, or else an awful lot of people will go on missing this really grand feature.
  4. Well, all I can say that the share and send to functions are supported by many Android apps. I use OneNote quite regularly and through the built-in save to pdf format printing is no problem whatever. I'd be pretty annoyed if I could not use my mobiles with network printers. Maybe some or even a larger number of problems users encounter with Evernote are due to Evernote being so 'different', still stuck in code of yesteryear, thus hardly using the potential of the latest hardware plus operating systems. Android and network printers, no problem.
  5. @DTLow Please simply accept the fact that there are people who expect more from the Evernote editor than you do. Henry Ford was supposed to have said "you can get any colour providing it is black". Salt was said to have been the gold of the Middle Ages. Relevance to today? Gone! In conclusion, it is only right and proper for users to remind Evernote time and again of what is sorely missing. Charges have gone up some time ago, yet the editor gets more bug ridden with every tiny little addition.
  6. The trouble with this so-called user forum is that requests for improvements are quite regularly commented by some Gurus in a way that feels kind of insulting. Nobody, repeat nobody, should be told to use another editor because Evernote is missing functionality. Requests for improvements, advanced features are not directed at Gurus or other users but at Evernote. Developers, regardless of software or hardware field, are normally quite keen to know what their customers would like to see in their product(s). It is in their own interest to evaluate and respond to requests. What strikes me is how often real help calls with individual problems calls are quickly referred to Evernote officials. Sadly or oddly, though Evernote is supposedly used in excess of 200 millions all over the globe, there is not much available in the way of useful publication. Made me think that no one wants to lose money or just waste time over a software which seems to be a puzzle to its own company.
  7. @DTLow Regardless of how many upvotes there are on feature requests over a certain time (sometimes years) I cannot help thinking by now that even the most obvious requests are either ignored or if they finally do get implemented still leave a lot to be desired. Evernote is a law onto itself. There can't be many users left who are not aware of that. With your years of experience and your grade of intelligence you are able to accept that merging notes will often not satisfy needs. So why try and 'belittle' requests/complaints by telling people how you manage? Years ago I knew a team leader who thought nothing wrong by telling his staff to use Excel also as their text writing app. Lately a local guru tried to squirm out of the apparent Evernote printing 'deficiences' by waffling over the paper-free office. Coindence or not, that group is losing members.
  8. Am I the only one having some specific printing problems with 6.6? To be precise, those wonderful new tables do not print as formatted. Anything else from within Evernote will print as saved and seen on display. Win 10, 32/64Bit Creators Update. Known issue? Any idea how to fix?
  9. Database is one thing, actual physical storage of individual files the other. The combination of both in the Evernote SQL database is the core issue of I'd say 95 % of all problems with Evernote. Evermote's editor needs lots of improvements and that's why some many prefer to use dedicated editors outside of Evernote, However, at least in my assessment, it is the database structure with its tag and not much else basis that is so outside all of Android, iOS, Mac and Windows logic that anyone could imagine. Either make it a topnotch note editor or drop that notion and turn Evernote into the digital cloud drive with the best content manager going.
  10. With due respect, taking into consideration in no way implies actual promise of implementation. Altogether web apps still are and will be for some time the no-frills tools. Proper reformatting through the desktop (full) version is the common approach.
  11. not being able or wanting to provide a reputable map service for geotagging (G..Maps or HERE WeGo) may well have something to do with licensing and/or API programming.
  12. hi, ----maybe no help and no comfort to anybody in this predicament ---- To my (albeit spartan) knowledge Google imposed restrictions over time in the way apps are allowed to process temporary files from 'unknown' sources (because of Android vulnerabilities). The method the 'I have no clue staff' from Evernote suggest and guarantee to work is by no means failproof nor particularly safe. The more applications have access to your data in the cloud, the more your data are at risk. To my belief there is/was? the option of saving notebooks locally on the device. I never bothered because of limited space but if this option still exists neither Google nor Evernote should object to alterations. Good luck :-)
  13. Sorry, simply cannot understand why some people cannot accept that freeware apps are something nobody has any right to expect time and money being spent on by the original developers. If I am dead concerned for an app to go and on I have to encourage the originator to keep it going. Seemingly all 'taking it for granted' or put more bluntly adapted from a bygone advertising slogan by Mediamarkt.de and now used in everyday German Geiz ist geil - (as long as it does not affect my pay cheque or working hours)- Google will translate if require- is a world-wide syndrome in the "better off countries". Anybody aware ot the policies of Microsoft as regards the future of 32-bit apps will not waste his/her time, let alone money because the days when Microsoft will enforce "Store" are not too far away. Going by the latest Evernote beta I see no hope for stickies being an immediate enhancement. A calendar app such as Google calendar serves my needs, synchro included, Evernote web clipper the 'saviour'. As they say 'always look on the bright side of things....'
  14. @gazumped no, no, there are lots of services which make 2step verification mandatory. One may have almost forgotten that this is so until one wants to use a new device or needs to access account settings or contact support. 2step verification is a cost factor, mimimal for one customer, but in total not to be neglected. Whenever one has heard about company servers being hacked with millions of accounts potentially endangered, in 99% of cases you need not worry because by the time the general public gets informed another set of shields have been implemented on the server-side. Free accounts run by the giants in the business are not unsafe. However when it comes to the terms of the business, there is a world of difference between free, cheap, somewhat more costly or fully supported, guaranteed etc accounts. As to risks of hacked accounts? For the individual the risks may seem small. But they do exist. People have had their bankcards frozen because they did not inform their bank about a massive email account incident. Be aware that there is an awful lot of data exchange between institutions who not only want to protect themselves against claims for damages but who are compelled by law to keep the risks of further damage to others very very low. Laws differ from country to country but as the risks of attacks by certain militant groups with their intents of practically overthrowing all civilised life across the globe are evident in almost daily news, and as these people fund themselves to a growing degree through internet use, including demands for ransom payments, there is a growing degree of consent that higher level of security measures for all are the only way of keeping abreast. Even in the world of 2step verification a variety of tools are available. My bank for instance suspended txt messaging of transaction codes to phone because that particular bank anticipates risks of phone tapping. At first I thought, yet another way of ***** money out of customers, because with neither transaction list of unique codes nor unique SMS codes allowed any more but having to use a (paid for) device plugged into the PC with bankcard inserted to prove identity, giving access to a special bank app which then okays transactions, internet banking away from home PC is practically not possible any more. I had quite a long talk with one of my banks IT clerks and that way learned why SMS (txt) messaging was dropped. Txt message had to show transaction number plus transaction details, as such in the wrong hands, too much of a risk for the legal parties concerned. How does that relate to Evernote? There is certainly more than one possible scenario. Negligence on the part of a user is one, accounts hacked at the server end also possible. Evernote, with the current set of security standards would not qualify for business use in the EU. Not even for storing a list of customers. Ever had a 'happy dropboxing mail' to tell you that they'd spotted your login point a few miles away from your wifi home address? German Telekom have a habit of switching over clients to a less loaded server quite regularly. Through Dropbox alert system I learnt about Telekom server sites with precise geographical data. I wonder if the sleepy bunch at Telekom know all that. So yes, normally when you pay a small amount goes into more advanced levels of protection. Sometimes legal requirements (of real use or not) see to that. A rail ticket bought online with credit card here is tied to verification on a particular device. I once forgot my mobile charger and luckily a friendly fellow passenger helped me out with his charger because the printout of the ticket shown together with credit card was not guarantee enough to prove legality. What can seem over much may have it unknown reasons. Evernote stores notes. Used with common sense fine. I would prefer to see Evernote going public. Do I need to explain why?
  15. Yes, there is every chance your computer has been hijacked and is used as a bot. Your ISP would be another source of help to get in contact with. Malware scanners do not always detect infection because at the mildest level of infection your PC/internet connection does no more than help distribute these mails. I reported your request for help to the admins of the forum to get those 2 mail addresses removed pdq.
  16. @webmccarty, please take it from me that the ScanSnap is not able to communicate with the outside world other than through Mac /PC/--- router or cellphone. The scanner does not come with Twain or the other type of driver (forgot the name). Direct processing of scans is limited to the Fujitsu software , does not communicate with any other software. To my understanding even the installation of the software is limited to one device, either Mac or PC plus one cellphone. My Brother device has its own 'telephone/fax' number, hence it can dial up the Brother web service for dumping into Evernote, Google Drive, One Drive, and a few more web services. The Brother is hooked onto the router by LAN cable. I think what catches people out is the reference to scanners such as the Fujitsu as network scanners, omitting local and private. Nevertheless, I do not really understand your frustration. You or somebody else has to operate the scanner and if you use your cell phone you need not even go through your computer. My cell phone uses WiFi at home (other than for calls) but office docs and cell phone display are not my preferred way of processing. For small receipts , snippets I find the phone camera as good as using the Fujitsu. But I am a lazy sod.
  17. Hi, Calling it 'direct scanning' is somewhat misleading. Such scanners do exist but these are actually network computers with integrated scanning device plus software and they do not come in the price range of the small office/private user Fujitsu ScanSnap. The ScanSnap has its merits (I am still very pleased to have one) and as it does not require USB connection other than for the initial set-up and together with the reliable software one gets a fair deal. My car is also advertised as running on under 7 litres/100 km, fully loaded, which it does not not, because normal stop-go traffic as well as short-distance travel just adds those extra 2 litres. Because I also needed a network flatbed scanner, copier, A3/A4 printer, I went for a Brother device. Now that one does offer direct scanning to various web services including Evernote. However, initial setting up also requires a PC as the machine must be registered for the so-called Brother web service, because the device needs to get electronically coded by them to match with the ISP data provided (so as to prevent abuse) and only when the signals match can one start with the usual granting of permissions, verifications, etc. Once again, being a reasonably humble device direct uploading is not pure joy. For a start flatbed scanners tend to be slower and every new item for scanning calls for selection of format (jpg, doc, pdf - OCR or not) and only once the document has been uploaded can one proceed with the next one. Both type of scanners have their place and I find both useful, but completely automatic processing at lightning speed is 'advertising talk'. But hey, thinking of 25 yrs ago, such devices, are heaven by comparison (so say I ) but of course you may feel differently.
  18. The 'you are leaving' message is considered standard practice right now. Definitely annoying when you are quite sure where you want to go to, but certainly a useful reminder to those who might not be aware of being taken to another site. I can also remember those days when airport screening was not part of the air ticket.
  19. Unless I am very much mistaken BCC settings are addressed in the own mail client (possibly restricted by provider).
  20. A 'decent' company would come forward and inform their customers of any issues they are aware of! ETA? meaning expected time of arrival? Can't they just call it release date?
  21. hello, the grand new feature of Evernote 6.3 Windows, integrating Google Drive content does not work. Not for me, and on the face of it also not for others. How can customers feel happy when the supposed Head of the Development Team does not either acknowledge the problem nor give any idea by when a fix can be expected, I refer to message What problem did the supertanker encounter here? I can access Google Drive online at any time, I gave Evernote all the required authorization, so where is the problem? However when it comes to the editor in Evernote even the zoom function leaves more than a bit to be desired. Zoom factor displayed in % ? Even MS Word from the year dot offered better formatting such as easy page numbering, where are all such functions hidden Evernote? BTW, for being a supertanker enterprise, there are exactly 4 professional Evernote consultants in all of Germany. Please don't get me wrong, I love Evernote, but I cannot help thinking that usability falls somewhat short versus what one pays, certainly concerning the editing side, which to me is a major feature. When an API such as with Google Drive does not function then I start to wonder why? Are there programmers dealing with things beyond their capability. Surely not? An Everbug would not do for me.
  22. hello to you all, I'm relatively new to Evernote but one of my first thoughts was "what a sub-standard editor" even under Windows, never mind Android. After reading quite a number of your comments I am wondering whether the Evernote teams are really concerned about some blatant deficiencies in their relationships with customers. What got me really quite cross today was that a feature proudly announced with the latest Win build simply is not working at all and though several users, including myself, posted such in the 6.3 announcement thread over a week ago, no tech support statement as to whether a patch will be supplied shortly has been forthcoming to date. Google supplied this thread here on one of my points of dissatisfaction with the actual software. The added poignancy is Evernote's apparent disrespect to customer wishes. I, too, am a paying member and what's more, subscribe to Office 365. Whilst many things happening around Windows 10 as OS do not please me overly, the grade of quality in the traditional Office software is still superb. As I am not a fan of OneNote I stayed on with Evernote after a year of premium membership given away as a promotion by German Telekom. However if the current editor is the result of 3 years of development I shudder to think how long it will take to raise to a kind of standard level. Annotation in a pdf-file is so attrocious to produce a warning by Adobe Acrobat as faulty parts of coding added. However what delights me is to read @Krunoslav here. The world is a small place. Through one of his fantastic tutorials I got an idea about dodging and burning & beauty retouching in Photoshop. One of main uses of Evernote is collecting and consolidating tipps and tricks on Photoshop & LR for my own use. Cheers John Longney
