Is anyone else able to filter by notebook on Web/Windows? It isn't just me, is it?

No definitely not just you. The ability to filter (or sort) the tasks view by notebook has been removed. We know they have plans to revamp the task view so hopefully this is not going to be a long term limitation.

The only way you could do this at the moment would be to filter notes by notebook and whether they contain a task. ie bypass the tasks screen altogether, which is a massive step backwards.

When I do a search on a topic, when I select a note, the app should open the note, and highlight the first occurrence of the search string.  It has happened in the past, but it seems every new update will either leave that feature off or bring it back.  It should always be there.

Seems to be working OK in 10.84.3

As an added bonus, it should have a little box somewher so you can go to the next occurrence of the search string easily.

Fo you mean within a note? If you open the find dialogue (ctrl+F) it is prepopulated with the search term and you can then use the arrow icons to cycle through.

I want to look for a specific created or edited date.  i tried your first example and that did not accomplish this.

That's strange. Works fine for me. If you want a single date (rather than a range) you need to click the date twice.

The equivalent advanced search syntax is:

    created:20240306 -created:20240307

The most used feature in Evernote for the way I use it was "Hide Unassigned Tags".

I agree this functionaility was useful.

The edit tags dialogue box still uses the dash and tick convention if you have multiple notes slected. The problem is that these are hidden in the tag hierarchy, there is no way of opening up the entire hierarchy and, as you've pointed out there is no "Hide unassigned tags".

You can copy all the tags from one note to another but not to multiple notes.

    • Click the first tag in the list of tags at the bottom of the note (In the new V10 UI there is nothing that shows the tag has been selected)
    • shift-click the last tag
    • ctrl+C to copy all the tags - there is now a comma separated list of tags on your clipboard
    • Go to the new note, click in the tag area and paste in the tags (ctrl+V)

I would like to search all my notebooks for a specific date

Do you mean creation date or just a random date in the text? For created or updated  date you can just filter "Notes" (ie all notes)

Alternatively you can use the advanced search syntax. The format is:

    created:20220601 -created:20220814

to find all notes created between 1 June 2022 and 14 Aug 2022.

That makes it better in my view, because you can set undated reminders for several notes, click on the reminders tab, and there they will all be -- three, four, five of the most important notes to whatever the notebook topic is.

    So, advantages and disadvantages.

    Vinnie

I don't use reminders now, preferring to just add a task to the note. That way all my note reminders and tasks are in one place. That potentially leaves the reminders tab for the pinned notes but at the moment I'm sticking with my $pinned tag.

How do I get a list of my note titles in a tag so I can give it to my supervisor?

    You need to

    1. filter by the tag (todo_today).
    2. Then select all the notes (e.g click the first one and shift click the last one)
    3. Create note links (alt+ctrl+L on Windows or use the three dots in the blue multiselect menu)
    4. Create a new note,
    5. Start a numbered or bulleted  list (This item is optional)
    6. Paste in the note links

    image.png.9db0a3f5ffb78d3f0aa2476bab03b311.png

You may be able to paste the note links directly into email as plain text  if that is how you are communicating with your supervisor. This didn't work for me on gmail but copying and pasting the table of contents worked fine.

Yes, it says in my post in the 2nd sentence "I select all the Export Note Attributes but none of them are showing when I open the exported web pages". Also, all the Export Note Attributes are selected by default when exporting.

Sorry, I should have read your original post more careefully.

When you export a Note to PDF or Web Page, does it include all Tags, Created Date and Updated Date?

For html the meta data is there in the background but not displayed. Open an html file in a text editor or view page source in a browser.

    image.png.2f0350c538fa8a9da98b430c70e3ca52.png

I doubt whetrher this happens for  pdfs

I don't know of anything that can open an ENEX file except Evernote and I don't plan to use Evernote anymore

Most EN alternatives allow importing of enex files so, depending on what your future plans are, it might be worth exporting as enex as well.

  9. 5 minutes ago, Razmataz said:

It doesn't work like that for me. PDFs from the import folder ignote the setting, as I wrote above.

Sadly it is not just the import folder.

    • Dragging a pdf to the note list creates a new note with the attachment  (in that notebook if you are in a notebook) but does not respect the pdf view preference set
    • pdfs captured with the webclipper do not respect the preference
    • pdfs sent to EN via the "send to" in the windows file explorer do not respect the preference.

So that is 4 out of the 6 ways of adding a pdf to EN that I routinely use that do not respect the preference I've set. For the record adding a pdf directly to an existing note, by (1) drag and drop or (2) insert attachment do respect the preference.

  10. I assume we are talking about Tags not Tasks

There is no way of doing this directly. If you have a tag hierarchy then you can filter by a top level tag and then use the drop down arrow to display the sub tags

    image.png.f8a09baa16c8db1e6f2ab612a730e41f.png

You can then select all the tags and copy them wherever you like.

Alternatively you could assign tags to a note (I assume there is a limit to how many tags a note can have but I don't know what it is) and select and copy the tags from the tags area at the bottom of the note. NB Since the new UI there is no indication that a tag has been selected, but clicking on the first tag and then shift clicking on the last one will select all the tags.
