Plan content and how to switch to free unclear

I just got the information about the huge price jump happening soon. While I use Evernote I know there are other, cheaper, possibly free options out there that I can switch to. But I'd like to keep using this if I can. However, I can't get a straight answer on anything.

1) I pay through iTunes, so when I try to search your help function to find out how to downgrade, I keep getting the message that I can only do it through iTunes. 

2) I go to do that, but don't see a "downgrade" option, or even a free option. Instead I see Evernote Plus, Personal, and Professional, with options for monthly or yearly billing. (See picture)

3) When I try to search for a comparison chart to remind me of the features available in each one, those don't correlate I see Free, Personal, Professional. NO search gives me information on what Plus is. So does it exist, or doesn't it?

4) I still want to downgrade to free, but still can't find out how. I see one blurb in a thread about "canceling" and that should solve it. But I'm scared I'm going to lose everything.

What is going on? Why can't there be correlation of information? And why can't there just be a simply "downgrade to free" option?

These are mostly user-to-user forums. Paying subscribers can submit a ticket to Evernote here: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Here is a comparison chart of all the plans. Note that the "Plus" and "Premium" plans are legacy/grandfathered plans. You can only have them if you have been on them before they got grandfathered -- i.e. you can't move to them.

This just cancels your subscription and you will move to the free plan -- it doesn't cancel or delete your account.

If you are paying through the App Store, you'll have to cancel your subscription through the App Store. I think that's how it works for all subscriptions through the App Store, not just Evernote.

I know it's user to user, but I can't submit a ticket because none of the topics answer my questions. I tried earlier.

As for the "grandfathered' plans, if you look at the other screen shot I shared--the one with the different payment options and Evernote Personal Monthly is selected--you'll see I CAN move to Plus if I choose to. That's why I want to know about it. 

I'm glad to know that canceling won't do anything to my account, but I need to verify how much storage I have to make sure it'll support it. I'm still trying to work out how to find that information.

You can only select the PLUS or PREMIUM options when you already have that plan. If not, it won't allow you to proceed.

That's the theory. If you want to know in practice, just click it and see what happens.

To change your account status, you need to go to your iCloud account, not he EN pages. Open iCloud, select Media & Purchases, select Subscriptions. On the subscriptions page you see all of your subscriptions, current and abandoned. By clicking on the Editing button behind the subscription, you open a details page, which among others has a button to terminate the subscription.

You said "when I try to search your help function" -- you addressed your post to Evernote.

It doesn't matter how much storage you have. The Free plan supports *any* amount of storage. You'll only be limited into what new content you can upload and you won't be able to edit any note that exceeds the 25 MB limit. You can still access them though.

Ah, yes I did say "your". I see what you were addressing. 

I just tried to select Plus and you're right, it didn't go through. Why are they still on there then? How hard can it be for companies like this (or iTunes, whoever it is) to delete options no longer viable? That doesn't make any sense.

Where can I see how much storage I'm using? I've been looking all over. All I can find is on Account Summary, where it tells me how much I have left for the month and how much I'm allowed. Not how much I'm already using or have. I also can't find an easy way to see a note or notebook count (apart from manually counting everything). Is there a shortcut for any of that?

The data storage isn't an especially useful metric. Storage is unlimited for all Evernote accounts. What is relevant is the amount of data you've uploaded in the current month since this is limited depending on the type of account that you have. You can check your local drive and check what storage is consumed locally. On Windows with the direct download app this is the %LocalAppData%\Programs\Evernote

There's is a similar place for other versions of the app.

Storage is not important - the only limitations are about upload, per note and per 30 days.

You can only indirectly estimate the size of the data stored, by looking at the local database on a desktop, or the app data after a full download on mobile.

Note and notebook count are in settings.

Just on this point, I assume that is related to the screenshot in your initial post. That must be from iTunes, which would be an issue for Apple. Evernote's own plan comparison page (https://evernote.com/compare-plans) has only Free, Personal, and Professional.

iTunes still carries the grandfathered plans - else it would not be possible for current subscribers to renew.

But this usually is only possible for existing subscribers of a grandfathered plan.New subscribers will likely get an error message.

You don’t „migrate“ anything.

You just need to cancel your subscription, before it renews itself.

If you subscribed directly with EN, cancel in the account settings, Billing, at the bottom of the page „cancel subscription“. If you subscribed through one of the stores, you need to cancel the subscription there.
