bounce 74
Huge headers multiple times in a merged note can be very unsightly. Can we please get the optional merge options like the Windows client has? Thank you Link to comment

Heheh well, I was just merging some notes that I wanted to be in a proper readable sequence to read later. Had to make a small change to one and then click sort "by date updated," then merge so they'd be in the right order. Years you say... I'm surprised it hasn't been "sorted" yet. Link to comment
0 Infor 6
Windows has some options for this since the end of 2016. Is it to come for the Mac version soon? 1 Link to comment
0 Level 5 jbenson2 2,149 Posted January 4, 2018 Level 5 Share Posted January 4, 2018 In Windows, the skinny rule separator for merged notes is fantastic. Here are the steps in Windows (it might be similar in Macs) >Tools >Options >Note Then scroll down to: Note merge options * Merge notes with no separator * Merge notes with rule separator * Merge notes with header separator Link to comment

Unfortunately, this is still missing on the Mac. Link to comment
0 keeprunning 0
would really like this feature. Have spent far too many hours trying to come up with an applescript or regex or keyboard maestro macro to clean up merged notes, which honestly look like a complete mess. Link to comment
0 pgdahl 133
I don't know when Evernote introduced the large unsightly headers for merged notes. But I do know exactly when they started becoming more than just an aestetichal problem, more than 4 years ago: The issue is, that the first header would be repeated if you merged notes with merged notes, see the example in the post above. A complete deal breaker for me. I filed a bug report all those years ago, but have no hope of ever seeing it fixed. Link to comment

There doesn't seem much interest in this request I don't know the widows formatting, but my work-around is to switch from H1 to H3 format style fwiw I use an Applescript to automate this - it's a variation of a generic Find/Replace script tell application "Evernote" set theNotes to selection repeat with theNote in theNotes set noteContent to HTML content of theNote set newContent to my replace_text(noteContent, "<H1>", "<H3>") set newContent to my replace_text(newContent, "</H1>", "</H3>") if newContent is not noteContent then set HTML content of theNote to newContent end repeatend tell on replace_text(this_text, search_string, replacement_string) set prevTIDs to AppleScript's text item delimiters set AppleScript's text item delimiters to the search_string set the item_list to every text item of this_text set AppleScript's text item delimiters to the replacement_string set this_text to the item_list as string set AppleScript's text item delimiters to prevTIDs return this_textend replace_text Link to comment

Emoji support is higher on the list unfortunately. Just put some smiley faces in your notes around the big gray borders. That will take your mind off of it. When emoji support is fully baked, I expect sprinkles and animated GIF support will come next. Then they will maybe get back to things that would help with platform parity. Link to comment
