Dynamic content across multiple notes?

I was hoping someone might have a good hack for how I can accomplish this: I would love auto-updating dynamic content across multiple notes.

For example:

I am a freelancer and I use Evernote to manage clients & projects. Each client has a notebook, and inside that notebook are separate notes for each project I'm doing with that client. I keep a highlighted "status" bar at the top of every project note (status is things like, "contract sent 11/12" or "waiting for feedback" or "project on hold until 2018"). The ultimate dream would be that I could create one main status note that pulls in all the status lines from every note. So when I update the status on a project note, that also dynamically updates on my main status note. Then I can open that one status note every day to see an overall idea of where I stand for each client.

In the same vein I could also dynamically pull all my to-do checkbox items into one full list, so I could see a full overview of all my open todos across multiple notes.

I'm currently doing this manually copy-paste, which as you can imagine, leaves a lot of room for error.

Any ideas how to accomplish something like this?

EN doesn't really do any auto updates similar to what you want to accomplish.  The check box consolidation has been requested many times and EN has opted not to implement it to this point.  So only thing are "workarounds" to create the functionality in the tool as it sits today.

Relative to your status reporting, a method could be to have a table of contents note for a client with links to the notes for each project of the client.  Perhaps a 2 by x-projects table.  Then you could maintain the status of the project in the TOC note, not the project note.  Add a link back to the TOC note in the project note and you can navigate the process.  This being said, you need to find something that fits your eye within what EN can do and determine if that is adequate for your needs.  FWIW.

I could see using a script on my Mac to parse notes and generate content for a note.  It wouldn't be dynamic; perhaps run each morning

I do have a good hack - but it's not in Evernote...()...  Check out Airtable.  You could have separate spreadsheets,  one for each client,  shared with that client.

You record your ongoing progress so that the client has visibility.

You also have your own management spreadsheet which collates all the individual progress summaries into one chart,  grouped by client (or anything else) and set it to show only the most recent entry(ies).  Editing the entry at either end changes both charts.

Think relational database crossed with spreadsheet,  and that's Airtable.  To continue with your existing Evernote usage (and so I don't get those green helicopters outside the house again) Airtable shares are accessed through a standard URL,  so you could embed the link in your current client liaison note.

Can't judge how relevant or useful that is for you,  but the folks at Airtable are pretty helpful and it's free to play with - just a suggestion.

Hello Martina,

i would like to help you build that Dynamic overview note in Evernote.

With Filterize.net you can create a table of contents that is dynamic and updates itself whenever you update your overview note.

While filterize cannot parse lines from the body of a note, you can however add the status to the note title of your individual project overview note.

Dynamic overview notes are very simple to setup.

I would give you a rundown of the process in a video  call. please send me a mail to enrico@paperless-Coach.de and to schedule a meeting with me.

Let‘s get you and your Evernote productivity to the next level.

I am responding because I am was searching for a solution and this request sounds similar to my much simpler desire:  Is there a way to have self-updating note template, or not necessarily a template. bit as OP posted, an "auto-updating dynamic content across multiple notes".?  For example, if you wanted to create a running To Do list that would automatically populate every new note that you created and then when it was updated, by deleting and adding items, would automatically carry those changes on to the next new note that you created by simply clicking the "Create a new note" button?

If I am understanding the replay from CalS, that is not now possible in EN.  Maybe I will try the solution CalS proposes, if I understand it.

The answer is "no" to any of this, not so far as I can tell, in any Evernote product. There may be 3rd party products that do this.

I believe TickTick (and probably other specialised to-do apps) will do something like this.  The app displays the jobs for "today". If any tasks were created with a due date of last week,  but have not yet been done,  they will be "brought forward" to this current list.  Tasks can be set up to repeat on a daily basis,  so a reminder list of daily operations could be set up.
