  1. Where and when did you get the Evernote app on your Mac? (From the app store recently?) I would think to try and delete the app and reinstall if you haven't tried that already.
  2. Yeah - it was the old version. I got the update now (10.14 (1116482)) and scrolling is way better now. Thanks!
  3. It's still choppy and will jump backwards (and then back to scrolling) for me when scrolling a list of notes in a notebook. It's like 10 steps forward, 2 steps back kind of a motion. It's way more noticeable when there is a thumbnail image. I have my view options as Small Show images: yes Show body text: yes Show tags: yes When scrolling on a list of search results, it will scroll for 1/4 second after I lift my finger and then just stop. iPhone 11 Evernote version 10.13.2 (1115451) Edit: Oh - this is still the old version? I don't see any updates in the App Store yet. I see this but not sure if it's for iOS or Android. Post title says iOS, content says Android.
  4. This is just meta, but where are you seeing it called "multi-window"? I thought it was called "Split View" (and PinkElephant has reference that multiple times in addition to "split screen" -- which is the same thing.) https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207582 I'm following the thread, but just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.
  5. My understanding is that whatever you are paying now, you can be locked-in at that price and those features (and any new features EN might throw our way). But I think there were two kinds of Premium users -- and maybe the users themselves didn't know that, but EN classified them differently: full-paying and discounted. Full-paying get migrated to Personal and Discounted get locked in at the new "Legacy" Premium. I'm a locked in "Legacy" Plus user -- so I get a few new features, but I don't have to pay a higher rate, unless I want to move to Personal. It sounds like you might be a discounted premium so now you are a "Legacy" Premium, but I'm not sure.
  6. I think that is well-stated about the perception. Well - you're still above this Plus only *****. 😃 Now that I think about it, and because of: I am glad I can keep paying the annual $37.44 USD and keep my same Plus features (plus a few new features). It has just about everything I need and I'm not ready yet to pay almost double for Personal. (I secretly hoped I could somehow be snuck in and grandfathered up because EN didn't want to manage the hassle of existing Plus users - but alas, such is not the case.) --- Edit: The ****** wasn't really vulgar i didn't think - but googling it now -- it's considered an obscene term in Yiddish. Who knew. 🤷‍♀️
  7. Here are a few. The biggest one that I remember when I was playing around with it was that when I click on a task from the task list to take me to the note where the task is, it would be helpful to take me to the exact place in the note where the task is (and maybe even highlight it briefly). When I had that kind of access to tasks (I'm just a Plus user, so I can't test it now) -- it took me to the top of the note and then I had to hunt for the task (that was buried in the note) and I scrolled right past it several times. I guess I could have done a Ctrl-F and found it. Indenting / sub tasks (which I think might be coming...?). A work-around is to just use an indented checklist under a task which is ok, but if you were to move a task to a different spot in the note (or to a different not altogether), it would be manual to move the indented checklist. I'm not a super big fan of the fly-out menu for tasks right now because it is kind of narrow -- seems like an additional full size page might work better -- something that I can undock into a separate window on Desktop. (Or at least pin the flyout menu... does it already stick and get pinned?) When I did have access to it, on my iPhone I could never get the task to take me to the note at all. Maybe I was doing it wrong or there was a bug, but I couldn't get it to do it. (Also, on mobile, seemed like the default thing when you clicked the note was to ask you which note you wanted to move it to vs taking you to the note.) And now that I'm thinking about it more, one thing I have wished I could do in Things is to attach pictures and other attachments to tasks. Well guess what, you can't in Things (afaik), but in Evernote you can! So that's pretty cool.
  8. I think that might be because there have been a lot of issues with the v10 rollout -- both in communication and execution. So naturally, people are going to complain. For those where it's working great, they probably don't even know about these forums. (I don't think I really knew these forums until the v10 rollout when I started looking for answers!) I had some issues with v10 at first, but now, I really do like it so much more than the old legacy and have zero issues. (I have the legacy version of Evernote on both my Mac and Windows machines, but I haven't used them in months.) I still have feature requests and wish v10 was a little snappier, but I'm ok with how it is (and hope it continues to improve) That isn't to say that I don't believe other people are having problems with it. Not at all! And I hope Evernote fixes those issues. I think it's important for people to complain and make issues known, but I've also been called a shill for just stating that v10 works great for me as if some people that are having issues can't believe that someone else is not having issues. Some of those people can be pretty hostile too.
  9. I bought into the Things 3 echo-system. Just a one time payment for each platform that I wanted to use it on (iOS, iPadOS and MacOS), but it was expensive -- like $100 total. With my workflow, Evernote Tasks can't compete with it... yet. What Evernote has right now for Tasks is just an MVP -- it works great for some people, not worth switching for others. I'm just a Plus user and see no reason to upgrade yet to Personal, but that could change with an improved Evernote Task implementation. I love the consistent look Evernote has across platforms as I also use Windows Desktop. (The way that legacy MacOS and legacy Windows Evernote looked and created notes was pretty inconsistent.) Things 3 isn't available on Windows, so another plus there for Evernote for me. I'm hoping Evernote will keep improving core things (as they have done since v10 release) in addition to adding new things like Tasks, Calendar, and Home widgets.
  10. I had a similar reaction as you when I first tried v10... except not quite so extreme. Here were my thoughts back in November or so when I tried out v10: Syncing is poor. You have no control and it's just not as good. (7/21/21 update -- you haven't had any issues in the last several months) Custom html went away. Cmd-J went away. (7/21/21 update -- it came back a couple of months ago) It's slow to navigate between tags and notebooks and searching. (7/21/21 update -- still a little slow, but better than it used to be) You can't change the update time of the note any longer. There are, of course, more things that I was used to that were gone -- like multiple tabs for Mac. Are you serious that it actually takes 5 seconds -- or is there a bit of hyperbole there? When I filter notes by tag, it takes once second to load the list and then another second to load the first note. So two seconds. But it seems like 10 seconds when compared to Legacy, which is instantaneous. On my machine, selecting 5 lines and right clicking is instantaneous. So know that your experience is not the same as all other users. Code block is still there. You can insert it from the "Insert" button, or you can type three back ticks ``` and then hit space or enter and it will appear.
  11. I think Evernote is better than it was a year ago (and I'm using the v10 on Mac and Windows). I love the consistent UI and notes. I don't use tasks and I don't use the Home widgets (and I'm a Plus user -- so I can't really use them very well anyway), but they don't bother me. I just don't use them and they aren't in my way at all.
  12. Here are my thoughts on Notion back when I tried it in May of last year: Man - I tried using this today and it is so tedious. I think I like the free-flowness of Evernote way, way better. 5/28 - It literally gives me such a headache to try and work with this app. Tedious is definitely the right for it. --- Of course - Your Mileage May Vary -- but I've tried the following different note taking apps to replace Evernote: Notion, NoteJoy, OneNote, Joplin, Dendron, Rome, Nimbus, Craft, Apple Notes and Bear. The reason I started looking around was because v10 changed my work flow a little and it just seemed to be too slow. I think a lot of people have frustration with Evernote because v10 drastically changed things and we, as people, don't like change when it's forced on us. We are ok with change if it's something we choose. So then we go looking for something else because even though the other things are different, it's something we choose. A lot of people may find something that works better for them and good for them. A lot of people (like me) will end up sticking with Evernote and getting used to the change. And I actually prefer v10 now. I still have a wishlist of things I wish Evernote would do, but it just works so much better for me then anything else I've tried.
  13. Here are some notes I took on NoteJoy when I tried it out back in December: It has promise, but it's just not as good as Evernote. I don't think I'd even use it if I didn't have Evernote. Hrm - yeah - it's not even close. Pros - compared to Evernote: It's probably faster. Evernote is such a dog at the moment. I like how you can PIN a note to the top. (But, bummer, looks like the pins don't work for tags) Better shared editing. There is some coloring in the code blocks -- even though it uses it's own coloring scheme. I really like the tagging better, but I wish they showed you a list of tags somewhere. How do you know what tags it has unless you do Ctrl-F and look for hashes. I like the Cmd-J that the Mac Evernote used to have. (7/19/21 update -- and Evernote has that now) Cons - compared to Evernote: The UI is not near as good or as clean. They hyperlinks don't look good. Wow -- Evernote really does have good styling. The whole thing seems kind of random -- like what a programmer would make without a designer involved. No tables. You are already used to Evernote and it's ecosystem. The Editor just isn't as good overall for working with content. No concept of update or insert date time. Left Side bar is not as good. Note side bar is not as good. Not near as popular as Evernote -- Evernote is more likely to have long term success. Mobile app probably isn't as good -- but I haven't downloaded it to try it.
  14. I think this is at least semi-related to this discussion... I've long wanted to be able to link to a particular section/header/block in a note from another note. Today, I clicked on a link in the task view to take me to a note so that I could view the task in the context of the position of where it was at in the note and... I could not find my task in my note at first! I wouldn't say my note was very long -- but I scrolled right past the task several times. It would be great if when you click on a task/note it can take you right to the exact spot in the note where the task is.
  15. I didn't necessarily "revert" -- I just have them both (v10 and legacy) installed at the same time -- on both my Mac and my Windows machine. One feature that I miss in v10 is being able to manually change the update date of the note -- it's for part of my work flow. You can't arbitrarily change the update date of the note in v10 as far as I know. So I downloaded the "legacy" version in order to do that and I hope they add that feature back in v10. I haven't noticed any issues running both versions at the same time -- but I haven't done a whole lot of testing either. oh - and for what it's worth - i prefer using the new version -- i like the look and feel of it way more. There are some missing features I hope that make it back and it's not quite as snappy, but it works for me.
  16. I've also been frustrated with some of the missing features (and I lost a note and part of another note). I remember trying Notion out a couple of years ago and didn't think much about it. Then, back in May (I know it was May, because I wrote in Evernote about it...) I tried it again because I watched some video about how awesome it was. Here is what I wrote about Notion back then: 5/28 - It literally gives me such a headache to try and work with this app. Tedious is definitely the right word for it. I'm not sure I could even use Notion if that was the only option out there. I tried out Notejoy last night (and, wow, not even close to Evernote) because I've been frustrated with a few things in Evernote Version 10. Here is hoping it doesn't take too long for Evernote to come back close to feature parity and make things more snappy.
