  1. Hello, Agree! Tags are much easier to use. Took me awhile to realize notebooks and stacks in Evernote do not work like the folder/sub-folder structure does in PC's. I will still use them but I am adding tags to my organization as well..

I checked on network traffic. It said „All changes saved“ in a blink, even before network traffic was picking up. This when saving attachments in the multi-MB-range, that needs a time to sync, even on a fast connection.

That‘s my indication that it shows the message when it saved locally. Just an outside view - I have no inside knowledge and can only observe what‘s going on.

@PinkElephantConsider this reason for why I believe it is saving to the server. When I open a very small note I see "saving..." then "All changes saved" sometimes it is in a blink but sometimes it takes like 10 seconds. BTW much better than about a week ago! I believe it is saving to the server because of the amount it takes to save these small notes and the time varies randomly. Just an observation.

  3. Hello,

Is this a beta? My install says "Evernote 10.57.10 is currently the newest version available." and the note status toggle is still active. I hope it's not gone as I'm still experiencing disconnected notes and have to restart Evernote every time I use it.

I'm a long time user of EN as many of you. Quite honestly EN is the most bug ridden application that I pay for and I'm very unhappy. But they have fixed some of the synch problems I was experiencing. I submitted a support ticket for slow notes opening and to their credit they responded promptly. A ticket is truly the best way to tell them how much pain you're feeling. Just my 2 cents.

Has anyone found a solution? I'm facing the same problem with my notes, and it's causing a major delay in my work, which is having a significant impact on my work really frustrating because I can't afford to wait for every note to load every time I need to reference something. I really hope this issue gets fixed soon, and I would greatly appreciate an update on when we can expect the problem to be resolved.

We all feel your pain. See previous posts in this discussion group.

  5. Tech support has confirmed this with me as well. No time frame yet.

Not yet. I did compare opening times for an Android S10 and a Win 11 gaming desktop both running the latest EN versions. Wasn't simultaneously running the test on both platforms. Different notes open quickly, 2-3 seconds, and some slowly, well over 30 seconds, on both. It seems pretty random.

  6. Yep real-time editing worked for me too plus I had differentiated cursors and I'm logged into the same account on both devices. EN 10.57.10 on the Win 11 laptop and 10.51.1 on an Android S10.

I just did some testing of syncing from my Android phone, editing the same notes on both the phone and a Windows laptop in the desktop app. Both are on the most current versions of Evernote, I believe (10.57.10 on the laptop, 10.51.1 on the phone). I found that real-time editing was happening--I could see the edits on one device appear almost instantly on the other. But there were neither icons at the top nor differentiated cursors in the notes. Is that because I'm logged in to the same account on both devices? Would I see them if there were really two different people editing? Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm glad to read that I'm not the only one with this problem, which has a huge impact on my business!
I can't wait 20s for every note, every time I look for a reference. I've realized that once I've opened my 6,000 notes it will be much quicker...

Isn't it possible to select several notes and right-click to launch the conversion?

Okay, so I don't have to load the servers, but I need to make a quick move on Evernote's side, as this is very prejudicial to the trust I have in software that uses a proprietary format for my notes...

EN staff must be aware of these concerns since so many of us share some frustration with this multifaceted problem. All we users can do is assume EN staff is working on a solution since they tend not to communicate with the user base. Yes, we should've been warned about notes opening slowly especially after the issues people have had with notes disappearing. In this EN has no excuse.

But now we can all be excited about EN 10.57.10. I quote.

"Hi everyone! We are focused on strengthening the foundations of Evernote across all platforms. This release contains important parts of the puzzle as we prepare to roll out the AI Note Cleanup feature. We hope you are as excited as we are about this powerful new feature. Coming soon on all your devices!"

Not impressed at all by any new feature in light of this tool taking nearly one minute to open an eight-line text-only note.

If you haven't let the EN staff know about your frustrations with this issue. Maybe they will consider making fixing the core of this product a priority.

  8. @PinkElephant Please weigh in on this.

I have a Ryzen 7950x, 32GB DDR5 6000, an Nvidia 4090 (not that GPU is relevant) and blazing fast 4tb NVME drives on gigabit Internet.  Evernote is a dog at the moment.

I have a powerful PC as well. Lots of free RAM etc. Some notes containing ONLY 8 lines of text take a full minute to convert. Please explain.

Your post hits the nail on the head - but at the wrong piece of wood.

RTE is the branding. What’s behind is a new way of syncing content, which avoids duplication and locking of notes. The syncing behind RTE means that they finally stop to always sync the whole note. They now just sync the tiny bit of information that was really changed.

It is a really game changer (no matter if collaborative work is for you or if you are a single user) - they just need to get all nuts and bolts fixed. Currently load balancing seems to be an issue. Plus I expected them to convert the notes on the server. Currently it is done on device, which leads to the wait when a note with the old data structure is opened for the first time. Should only happen once per note, but it’s a PITA.

I noticed an improvement in note synching especially on my phone once they are converted. I understand why it may take awhile to convert a note on my phone but why is it also slow on my PC with nothing running? I have >8 GB free RAM, Intel 11th gen, Nvidia 3020, SSD, M2 drives etc. Duh something is wrong.

There was an interview with the Bending Spoon guy (Federico?) where he explained that some users, using the legacy version still need the old format. If it's going to be mass converted, the legacy users will need to re-convert back.

    Thanks for the info.

This is the result of adding whiz bang unneeded features on top of buggy software. The synching issues should've been fixed first. This is most likely due to pressure on the SW team by marketing.
