Hello,

In v6, the shortcut CTRL + SHIFT + C added a checkbox.

Now it add a checklist.

I know it is possible to use the "Insert" button or the code [] but it isn't convenient. The first is slow and the second doesn't work well, for instance in a line start.

I agree with you @stocky2605, @Wanderling Reborn's tagging solution isn't a solution for me : explore by tags, tags suggestions when typing, incremental tag filter, etc.

About alternatives, i tested Notion which was the one offering the more features i need, but was missing these ones importants for me :

• Text encryption with a note
• No "text inside note" search on mobile

But more annoying : importing Evernote isn't working. I tried from the web app then the Windows app  .

Also, on mobile, my RSS news app 'Palabre" says "not supported app" when i try to send content to Notion.

I think i can reply to myself by : "Yes, Evernote, even in v10 version is always the best note application", at least for my needs.

Maybve Notion is good but i can't start with import and send to issues. I prefer keep Evernote and help to fix issues on it.

I hope v10 will be better in next version and will fix issues and add missing functionnalilty from v6.

For now, i use the legacy version on Windows, and hope my Android v10 will be fixed.

Since v10, i don't have all my notebooks synced (my default notebook isn't synced) and can't capture anymore (notebook choice say "Loading").

If i hit the "Sync now" button, it says "Sync finished" but it isn't...

I can see in the activity log a lot of errors like :

• "ERROR: neutron:  Failed to get default notebooks data:  Unable to find Notebook with id"
• "ERROR: neutron:  CollectionListNotebookRow_49c3c3d5-c5dd-4f51-92f4-c2ba0a06d9ee: ["Unable to find Notebook with id"

I use Evernote since a lot of years now and it is my most used app daily for both all my personal and professional stuff. I have about 25.000 notes and thousand of tags.

Before v10, i was quite happy with it, at least on Windows, but i had sometimes, and more and more often, slowdowns and lags.

On Android it was more complicated : the application was often slow and i had often synchronisation conflict with my desktop app. So i wasn't using it when i could avoid. For instance, when i had something to add to Evernote when i was on mobile, i used my Todo app (Microsoft) to quickly add my note, and then, i copied it to an Evernote note when i was on my desktop. But i used a lot the capture web function on Android.

Anyway, i was thinking that maybe i could take a look on an alternative.., but never really did. When Evernote increased theirs prices, i was ok with this because i thought it was necessary to help Evernote developement. I tried the free alternative OneNote but it missed on essential feature for me : tags ! Am i right ? There isn't tags on OneNote ?!

And now, v10 is here. I was excited to try it to see if all my issues could be gone...., but..  : i created a topic Just installed Evernote 10 : scared where i list some of essential features missing :

Since this message, i am waiting each new version to see if missing features or bug will be resolved. But i also often discover new missings  .

And as if it wasn't enought, the new Evernote Android doesn't work anymore for me : i can't capture anymore ! I haven't all my notebooks synchronized and so it says "Loading" where i should choose the destination notebook. I can't use it anymore !

So : i have a v10 desktop version i can't use daily (i use legacy for the moment) and Android version that can't capture anymore.

Yes i should ask support for my issue on Android (maybe i will) but since last weeks, i have the feeling to not use a product but to help or work to devellop an unfinished product.

In my other post, some users tried to rassure me about v10 future, but i actually more than ever thinking to switch.

But is there really serious alternative ?

For my use, these are the important features i need :

• A Windows application with ability to open notes in separate windows
• An Android application : at least to be able to capture web content
• Offline use
• A Chrome extension to capture web content, and if possible with choice like : capture page, article, selection, etc.
• Tags : i have some thousands of tags. I would like to be able to add one or more tags on notes and on web capture, search in all my tags, filter by tags (if possible with filter like the one in v6)
• Reminders
• Ability to add images to note, and it could be great to have option to compress images
• Checkbox (like v6, with shortcut and not tranformed in checklist when i hit enter ! )
• Internal links between notes
• Keyboard shortcuts

• Texte encryption
• Drag and drop from browser URL
• export or backup feature
• and mostly : faster and more stable than Evernote if possible ! even on Android...
• and i almost forgot : a way to import all my Evernote notes !

Does it exist or is Evernote always (even in v10) the best note application with theses features ?

alt-ctrl-5 seems to work for me in all the different places I've tried. The numbers have recently changed in order to reserve alt-ctrl-1 for the new Home page currently in beta. The documentation obviously hasn't been updated.  ctrl-alt-5 doesn't work for me but 2, 4, and 6 do.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. I would certainly try them when you are in edit mode and not in edit mode. (Look to see if the edit tool bar is at the top of the note).

Thanks for your reply. I succeded to use shortcut after enter in edition mode; thanks for the tip. After that, shortcuts works sometimes, but not every time.

I sometimes have to enter again in edit mode to make shortcuts working again.

I hope it will be better in next versions.

The absence of checkbox shortcut is the most annoying for me. I hope it will be added.

I am testing keyboard shortcuts on my Evernote 10.5.7 windows store version and a lot aren't working for me.

For instance i miss the old CTRL + Alt + T to display and search in all my tags.

I explore the new CTRL + /  (this shortcut work) and i see i could "Open my tags" with Ctrl Alt 5 :

On v6, when i drag and drop a tab (padlock icon) from my browser (Chrome) to a note : an hyperlink was created with the title of the tab as text and the url as link :

Just to be sure i'm talking of the same feature : if i select a tag : i have list of all notes with this tag, ok. 

If i want to display only notes with this tag and one or several others : with v6 : i click on "tag filter" button and only the tags presents in the displayed list are displayed.

With v10  : all the tags of "all" my notes are displayed

So yes, i also miss a lot the tag filter in v10. It is essential for me.

I think Evernote should add a function to compress images.

If not automaticly, at least manually from image contextual menu : "Compress image", like LibreOffice does :

I often use tools to compress my images, like Riot for instance, but is isn't convenient to always use an external tool.

I'm sure it will save an enormous size of unused data (i think about my thousands of notes and at millions of Evernote users) and Evernote will be faster.

For instance, i just created a not with two lines of text : the size is about 30 Bytes. I simply add a screenshot (not compressed by external tool) : the note size is now 600 KBytes !

When i add images to Evernote, it isn't to save high quality image, but always for just have a visual like a screenshot anotated...

Do you know if it is planned in the new Evernote 10 ?

Yes it works : i have to hit backspace then enter and this second time, the checkbox isn't converter. I also found a quicker way : using Shift + Enter does the same thing.

But it isn't coneviant for me. Shift + Enter is quick, ok, but i miss a quick way (shortcut) to add a checkbox.

Maybe i could use Checklist instead of Checkbox if text wasn't automaticly strikethrough.

An option to enable/disable strikethrough on check could be useful.

Thanks for the video. I'm a bit reassured but not completly.

I understand the need of a unified version on all platform and i hope missing features and maybe new ones will be added in next updates.

But i'm also worried about performance..., but i was annoyed also with this aspect on version 6.

With version 6 i often have latence (for instance when searching tags) and more and more often a "no responding" message with circle instead of pointer. I had discussed with evernote support and they said i should divide all my bigger's notes : not possible for me so i lived with it...

With version 10 i didn't see the same specific performance issues, which is good, but all the application seems to be slower, which is not good  . 

Is there any information about performances which could increase in next update ?

Maybe related : i installed the windows "store" version 10 to not touch my "desktop" version 6.

Is there any difference between the store 10 and desktop 10 version ? For instance concerning performances...

About the "legacy" version : if i'm right : it is the same that the last desktop version 6 i keeped, isn't it ?
