(Archived) Is there an outline app for Evernote in Trunk

quickdrawartist

Idea

I'm looking for a way to keep outlined notes in Evernote:

- usable on both mac and iphone.

- should have a TREE structure down to at least four levels

- collapsible ("foldable") at/from any level

- ability to cut and paste any branch to another part of the tree

- have complete backup functionality to hard drive

- makes good use of swipe technology both in iphone and on trackpad

- simple with FEW bells and whistles

OPTIONAL FEATURES: searchable, taggable

The free "Simple Tree Todo" app in iphone is really elegant, but missing a lot of these features, however, it does point to what I'm talking about. I do not mean mindmap software, this is closer to the outline function in Pages or MS Word. I have searched and found nothing really good so far.

Given the apparent issues with the text editor and the differences between editors on the variety of clients I would guess anything this sophisticated to be some way out.

To a certain extent, I believe in horses for courses - if there are apps out there that do something really well (and have had huge investment behind them), like Word and Pages then I would stick to using them for something relatively specialised like this.

The ability to collapse different levels is critical (for me) when working on larger projects. While cloud outliner provides this, it's lost once imported into EN. We're this functionality integrated with EN - it would instantly become my primary goto ap.

There is Cloud Outliner in the Trunk. I have not used it yet but have been thinking about it. It says it is for the iPhone, iPod, and iPad.

Cloud liner is an excellent app for outlining. No where near as developed as OmniOutliner but easy to use and integrates well with EN. There is now a Mac version as well.

You can use ConceptDraw MINDMAP you are able to send an out line to Evernote with the click of a button. Here is a brief video on that functionality. http://bit.ly/Yyrifi

Thanks for your recommendation, I've tried ConceptDraw and I could see a potential here. Actually I've just finished my mindmapping course and was so impatient to try out all the techniques I've learned so now I'm keen and ready to go. That product seems to fit all my requirements for a mindmapping app and with the Evernote integration it is now much easier to sync map with my notes.

workflowy is a great free multi platform outlining tool. it doesnt inter ate directly with evernote but you can email your outlines.

In addition to emailing, you can just "Export" an outline/portion-thereof, copy, and then paste it into Evernote.  That's generally what I do (I'm a big Workflowy fan & user).
